Bob Rankin

Bob Rankin is an award-winning acrylic artist, accomplished in depicting the landscape in a traditional manner, then taking it through a range of interesting abstractions to create a finished work. Drawing on his experiences and journeys of exploration around the world, Bob's work reflects a wide range of color relationships, surface treatments and the excitement of discovery. As a result, his paintings are both vivid in color and high in energy. With an extensive background in art education, Bob Rankin has studied art and art history with the American Institute of Foreign Study, spending time in Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Florence, Venice and Athens. His work has been featured in many exhibitions, including Macy's Gallery in New York, the International Invitational in Marrakesh, Morocco, and numerous One Man Shows throughout his home state of North Carolina. In addition to these impressive credentials, Bob has also been honored with numerous awards, including the North Carolina NCAEA Secondary Art Educator of the Year Award and the Raleigh Medal of Arts Award. Bob is also a five-time winner of "Best in the Triangle", a special contest in Spectator Magazine which focuses on the culture and art of the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area in North Carolina.
