There are countless ways to use the Painter's Color Diary®. Some examples are:

The color diary is spiral-bound with removable pages so that you can work on multiple sheets simultaneously. Once dry, you can reinsert the pages between layers of the included glassine, so they don’t stick together. The top of each color chart has a space for writing the paint brand, the date, or an assignment title if it’s for class. Each swatch box contains a bold black line to show transparency or separate half-tones.

"Over the decades, I have continued to make tests of a diverse and ever-growing collection of oil paints, taking note of how they respond to the addition of white paint to analyze tinting strength or adding a glaze medium to note how the pigments react transparently. Sometimes I will test one color, such as Raw Sienna, from different paint manufacturers to determine which version will be best for my needs.
