Designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint Just because oil and water don't mix in your kitchen doesn't mean there aren't other methods to make them happy in each other's company. A most effective route is through the addition of a chemical emulsifier that has an attraction on one side of the molecule for water and, on the other, for oil. The result? A happy match made, if not in heaven, at least in the laboratory. Mix with Water - Artisan provides all the characteristics expected from conventional oil color: High pigment strength, a high proportion of single pigments, and variable opacity. The key difference is their ability to be mixed with water even though they are made with traditional oil binders. Chemical analysis has indicated that any added water fully leaves the paint film within a short time; no water remains "trapped" to weaken or loosen the color on the canvas. Drying Time- The water evaporates out of the paint film fairly rapidly leaving behind a conventional oil color that dries by oxidation, as normal. Research has also shown that the dried Artisan film is similar to a conventional oil film in solvent resistance, yet remains slightly softer than conventional colors, offering increased flexibility, which is a very good thing. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil makes oil colour "fatter". It reduces viscosity for better flow while adding transparency and gloss. Drying Poppy Oil - Extracted from the seeds of the poppy plant. Drying Poppy Oil makes oil colour "fatter" and has a pale character. The fast drying oil stabilizes a colour’s film. Dries more slowly than linseed oil and preserves good, clear colours even in the spectrum of light colours. Drying Linseed Oil - Fastest drying linseed oil, increases gloss, transparency, and reduces consistency. It decreases the consistency and transparency of the oil paint. Refined Linseed Oil - A low viscosity alkali refined oil of pale colour that dries slowly. Refined Linseed Oil makes oil colour "fatter". It reduces the consistency of the paint. Slower drying variant of the linseed oils. Add to fast drying oils to balance drying times. Bleached Linseed Oil - A refined pale oil which will improve the flow of colour and dries slightly faster than Refined Linseed Oil. Use with pale colours and white. Thickened Linseed Oil - Amber coloured, partially oxidised oil. Makes oil colour "fatter". A faster drying viscose oil. Can be used in combination with Sansodor to accelerate drying rates further. Safflower Oil - Extracted from the seeds of the safflower plant. Makes oil colour "fatter" and has a pale character. It's a slow drying oil that stabilizes paint film. Use with whites, pale and bright colours. The pale colour preserves the brightness of pigments.
