Charvin Extra Fine Professional Oil Paints use a combination of the finest in traditional and modern pigments, bound with a blend of linseed and non-yellowing poppy oils, for a smooth, creamy consistency and vibrant color. Charvin Maison de Haute Couleur ("House of High Color") has been meticulously creating fine artists' oil colors, serving artists like Cezanne, Bonnard, and Ambrogiani. Using only the highest-grade pigments that are triple-milled to the finest particle size, Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colors span a naturally progressing color range from the subtlest shades to brilliant hues. The main binding ingredient in Charvin Extra Fine oils is poppy oil, which dries slower than linseed oil (but without its tendency to yellow over time), and provides a rich creaminess to the paint. Permanent and light-fast, Charvin Extra Fine Oils are designed to accurately reflect the hues of nature, making them ideal for Plein air painting. The smooth and creamy texture lends itself perfectly to Alla prima painting, yet the high pigment concentration also allows the paint to be thinned down to the most subtle and luminous glazes (as with any Poppy Oil-based paint, remember to follow the fat over-lean method of painting). Largest color range in the world! The Charvin Extra Fine palette is available in 20ml, 60ml, or 150ml tubes. Gamblin has developed FastMatte Alkyd Oil Colors specifically with the needs of the artist in mind. The alkyd resin binder lets Gamblin FastMatte colors dry quickly but thoroughly, allowing multiple layers to be built up without disturbing previous ones. It is the matte surface, however, that makes Gamblin FastMatte colors so revolutionary: when used as an underpainting layer, the matte surface of the alkyd colors provides a mild tooth similar to that of ground, ensuring the proper adhesion of further oil layers when following the fat over lean rule. FastMatte Alkyd Oil Colors do make a fabulous underpainting medium, but are also completely compatible with all artists' grade oil colors—should a more glossy surface be desired on a finished painting, a quick coat of Gamblin Gamvar Picture Varnish will both intensify the colors and unify sheen. More Permanent Gamblin Galkyd Mediums are Contemporary Painting Mediums!. Painting mediums offer a great deal more than simply extending oil colors. Mediums modify the working properties of oil color from the tube - from a fluid consistency for expressive mark making to a stiff paste for creating thick, crisp marks. Painting mediums also broaden the visual qualities of our colors - from increasing the transparency of paint layers, to creating a range of surface qualities, from high gloss to matte. When a painting is completed, all of the thought, effort and emotion that went into it are reflected in the artist’s marks. Choosing the appropriate painting medium can be an essential part of making oil painting your own. With a painting medium that fits your needs, you can get into the flow of painting faster and stay there longer. Gamblin Galkyd Gel - "G-Gel" Made from alkyd resin, Galkyd Gel is a colorless oil color additive that accelerates the drying rate of oil colors and enables artists to create thick transparent paintings with a moderate sheen. Galkyd Gel is a stiffer gel compared to Neo Megilp that holds thicker, sharper brushmarks and dries more quickly. Galkyd Gel increases transparency of oil colors and creates impasto. Gamblin Galkyd Painitng Medium - Galkyd thins oil colors and increases transparency and gloss. When used in greater proportions with oil color, Galkyd will level brush-strokes, creating an enamel-like surface. Galkyd is our fastest-drying painting medium. Thin layers will be touch-dry in approximately 24 hours. Alkyd based resin painting medium that thins oil paints and maintains a strong flexible paint film. Galkyd speeds the drying rate and is excellent for glazing providing an enamel like finish. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Gamblin Galkyd Painting Medium Lite No.2 - Galkyd Lite thins oil colors and increases transparency and gloss. When used in moderation with oil colors, Galkyd Lite will retain brushstrokes. Galkyd Lite is more fluid and less glossy compared to Galkyd. Thin layers will be touch-dry in 24 to 30 hours. This low viscosity alkyd resin painting medium is a good replacement for traditional damar/ linseed oil/ turpentine combination mediums. Galkyd Lite dries within about 3 hours to a subdued gloss, and will maintain your brush strokes. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Gamblin Galkyd Slow Drying Medium - Galkyd Slow Dry thins oil colors and extends working time. Galkyd Slow Dry is more fluid and less glossy than Galkyd Lite. Use one part Galkyd Slow Dry to one part oil colors to paint wet-into-wet for at least a day.. Especially formulated to thin oil colors and give painters extended working time. To use mix equal portions of medium with oil colors to paint wet for at least a day. Since this product should not be diluted you may want to purchase the larger size. What is Gamblin Galkyd? Gamblin Galkyd thins oil colors and increases transparency and gloss. Galkyd Medium - An alkyd resin painting medium that increases the fluidity of oil colors and speeds their drying time See More

Gamblin Ground is formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate – titanium dioxide gives opacity, while calcium carbonate gives tooth for strong adhesion. Gamblin Ground makes a brighter and less-absorbent ground layer compared to acrylic “gesso” – meaning that oil paint layers on top will better retain their color saturation. In addition, the lower absorbency allows for “reductive” underpainting techniques when painters need to wipe back to the white of the Ground. Key Features:* See video - Ground Application* Makes a strong, bright, non-absorbent foundation for oil paintings* Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate* Brighter and less-absorbent ground layer * Oil paint layers on top will better retain their color saturation* Lower absorbency * Thicker than acrylic gesso* Can be applied on top of acrylic gesso Because the percentage of pigments is so much higher than in acrylic “gesso”, painters need only apply TWO coats of Gamblin Ground instead of the recommended four coats of acrylic. Fabric supports should be sized with PVA Size before applying Gamblin Ground. Also, Gamblin Ground can be applied on top of acrylic gesso for a brighter white, less-absorbent ground layer. Gamblin Ground is thicker than acrylic gesso, and requires different application techniques See More

Rather than using toxic and unpredictable lead drying agents, Michael Harding has prepared a selection of oil, resin, balsam, and wax painting medium creations that will safely yet traditionally alter your paint film to suit your painting needs! In place of traditional sun-thickened linseed oil, Harding’s oil mediums formula utilizes the best grade viscous linseed stand oil, given its ability to self level, imparts elasticity into the paint film, and does not yellow or darken appreciably over time. Otherwise, the raw materials used are consistent with those of the past. Mediums and varnishes are available in 100ml and 250ml jars. See description tab for information on each individual medium. Dammar Glaze Medium - A traditional glaze medium (with cobalt siccative) that helps add depth and gloss to transparent colors. Known for its speedy drying time of oil colors; use with slower drying colors. Oil Painting Medium - A basic oil medium designed to ease flow and increase gloss, transparency, depth, and bedaub of the pigment color. This medium is a linseed stand oil and turpentine formulation that prevents yellowing of paint film. Resin-Oil-Wax Medium - A soft painting paste, derived from pure bleached beeswax, mixed with dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This popular medium creates a lovely satin sheen and gentle impasto in paint layers. Settling of the medium may occur - allow jar to stand in hot water and stir contents until dissolved. Oleo-Resin Medium - A historic glazing medium based on light colored Canadian balsam fused with dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This versatile medium provides high gloss levels while imparting depth to paint films. Beeswax Paste - A high oil content paste based on linseed stand oil and pure bleached beeswax. The paste increases the body of oil colors with a satin-matte finish; especially useful with opaque colors. Balsam Resin Glaze - Another historical glazing medium, it is based on Austrian Larch Turpentine (Venice Turpentine) with Dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This wonderful smelling medium is added to oil colors to enhance depth, gloss, and luster. Matte Varnish - Creates a long lasting, protective coating with a beautiful matte finish. Made from real beeswax dissolved in the finest Portuguese Turpentine. Heat the container before using (until the contents turn clear) and then apply one thin coat - dries within minutes. Apply this varnish as a final picture varnish to thoroughly dried oil paint (6 months minimum- up to 18 months if paint is very thick). Getting the proper pigment is just the beginning! So much of the quality of oil paint is in the grinding. Each color is ground to enhance the beauty and luminosity specific to that particular pigment. Some colors by nature will feel slightly gritty, others extremely smooth. For instance, Cerulean Blue will have a beautiful velvet, light-absorbing surface with an extremely strong covering power; Siennas, by comparison, are often chunky or gritty to allow light to travel through the vehicle, exposing rich golden or mahogany undertow instead of just heavy, dull browns. Pigments are ground in pure alkali-refined, ph balanced linseed oil, and made in batches no larger than 5 gallons at a time. This gives total control over the paint, much like late 19th-century French color makers. All materials are hand measured, and every ounce of paint is scrutinized. Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors are then packaged in 37ml and 150ml non-reactive aluminum tubes. Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors are used by the world’s finest artists, whose works can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA in New York City, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Beaubourg in Paris. Going back to the earliest traditions of oil painting, Williamsburg offers 13 whites, blues, and other delicate transparent colors made with a far less yellowing safflower binder. Artists will find these invaluable for holding onto maximum clarity and brightness in the upper layers of their paintings. Designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint Just because oil and water don't mix in your kitchen doesn't mean there aren't other methods to make them happy in each other's company. A most effective route is through the addition of a chemical emulsifier that has an attraction on one side of the molecule for water and, on the other, for oil. The result? A happy match made, if not in heaven, at least in the laboratory. Mix with Water - Artisan provides all the characteristics expected from conventional oil color: High pigment strength, a high proportion of single pigments, and variable opacity. The key difference is their ability to be mixed with water even though they are made with traditional oil binders. Chemical analysis has indicated that any added water fully leaves the paint film within a short time; no water remains "trapped" to weaken or loosen the color on the canvas. Drying Time- The water evaporates out of the paint film fairly rapidly leaving behind a conventional oil color that dries by oxidation, as normal. Adhesion and drying time have been shown to be comparable to conventional oil color. Research has also shown that the dried Artisan film is similar to a conventional oil film in solvent resistance, yet remains slightly softer than conventional colors, offering increased flexibility, which is a very good thing. Your canvas can flex with changes in temperature and humidity; a paint film that will go along with it will better resist cracking or lifting. Key Features: * 40 vibrant tones * Designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint * Thick, buttery consistency * All colors are touch dry in 2-12 days * Clean up is easy with just soap and water! * High pigment strength and variable opacity * Mix with water and avoid hazardous solvents * Made from modified linseed and safflower oils * Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colors - These magnificent paints are designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint, but they're a bit special. You can use them without hazardous solvents - they're happy being thinned down and cleaned up with water. They're especially good for artists who share a workspace or don't want solvents in school or at home. Each color reaches a touch-dry state in less than 24 hours, making them ideal for fast working while still offering the working and optical properties of oils. Their unique luminosity makes them perfectly suited for glazing, particularly when used in combination with Liquin. Compatible with conventional oils, Griffin Alkyd Oils have excellent flow properties and dry to a durable, semi-gloss hard film that will not yellow over time. Made with an alkyd resin binder that has been modified with a non-yellowing drying oil for optimum color retention, excellent durability, and rapid drying time. 48 oil colors is available in 37ml tubes. Titanium White is also available in 200ml tubes. Key Features:* 48 oil colors, available in 37ml tubes* Faster drying time than traditional oils* Dry to the touch in 18 to 24 hours* Genuine oil color* Can be thinned with traditional oil color solvents* Can usually be varnished in 30 days* No compromise on lightfastness, color strength, and selection* Speed of drying allows techniques such as impasto and glazing to be done in considerably less time* Classed as artists' quality because the grinding of pigments* Dries to a durable, semi-gloss hard film* Will not yellow over time Perfect For:* Fast working while still offering the working and optical properties of oils* Colors remain workable for 4-8 hours* Oil painting outdoors* Clean with mineral spirits* Non-yellowing drying oil for optimum color retention* Glazing, particularly when used in combination with Liquin * Because alkyd film is slightly less flexible and is faster drying than traditional oil color, application over oil or oilbar layers is not recommended. Alkyd is not intermixible with acrylics. Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Drying Oil Color Alkyds are made from a naturally derived vegetable oil that is polymerized. The result is a resin-like product that, when mixed with a solvent, is very similar to traditional linseed oil. The colours remain workable for 4 to 8 hours and are touch dry in 18 to 24. Consistent drying times across the range removes the usual restrictions that come with conventional oils, making it easier to overpaint, regardless of the colour upon the surface. Artist Review Great Product! "I work on commissions all the time that sometimes require a short deadline. I feel much more confident in getting them done and out in time while using these oils. You can also mix them in with regular oil paint and usually that will speed up the drying times as well. Usually they are completely dry in 24 hours!" See More

Odorless Mineral… The safest solvent that allows oil painters to utilize all traditional painting techniques without compromise Quality solvent and medium and for general oil painting: Thinning oil colors, Modifying painting mediums. Gamblin Gamsol is also an excellent studio and brush cleaner. Odorless Mineral Spirits - Gamsol is the safest solvent that allows oil painters to utilize all traditional painting techniques without compromise. Primary Uses for Gamsol - Thinning oil colors, Modifying painting mediums, Studio clean up.Gamsol is a petroleum distillate but all the aromatic solvents have been refined out of it, less than .005% remains. Primary Uses for Gamsol:* Thinning oil colors. A little goes a long way; stiff oil colors relax immediately when a little Gamsol is added. Be careful not to thin oil colors too much with solvent alone, this can compromise the ability of the paint to form a paint film.* Modifying painting mediums. Our Galkyd line of painting mediums are formulated with Gamsol, so they readily accept Gamsol as a thinning agent. Note: Gamsol should not be added to painting mediums made with natural resins (dammar, copal, mastic). They require strong solvents such as turpentine.* Studio clean-up: brushes, palettes, palette knives, etc.* Odorless* Available in the following sizes: 4.2 oz,16.9 oz, 33.8 oz, 128 oz* No solvent odors, only the wonderful smell of oil colors* Widely used in oil painting classrooms* Flash point: 62.2 °C / 144.0 °F (See SDS Sheet) How does Gamsol achieve this level of performance and safety? Most solvents available to artists come from the industrial paint industry where solvent power and cheapness is prized. Gamsol is special: it is made for products and processes that come into more intimate contact with the body such as cosmetics, hand cleaners, and cleaning food service equipment. Gamsol is a petroleum distillate but all the aromatic solvents have been refined out of it, less than .005% remains. Aromatic solvents are the most harmful types of petroleum solvents. The Gamsol SDS shows that it has an Exposure Limit Value higher than most solvents available to artists. In addition, Gamsol’s flash point allows it to ship via air cargo as a non-hazardous material. All of these factors have lead to Gamsol being used widely in oil painting classrooms; in those classes, there are no solvent odors, only the wonderful smell of oil colors See More

Why safflower? We chose safflower for these mediums because of its paler color. The alkyd resin, which is essentially a highly polymerized oil, accounts for the faster drying rate of these materials, compared to either linseed or safflower oils used alone. Both Solvent-Free Fluid and Gel increase the flow of oil colors, increase transparency, gloss and color saturation. Both Solvent-Free Fluid and Gel increase the flow of oil colors, increase transparency, gloss and color saturation Solvent-free-Mediums:* Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel gives colors more flow and transparency, yet holds the shape of your brushmark. Solvent-Free Gel has a moderately fast drying rate and increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates.Solvent-Free Gel is available in the following size: 37 ml, 150 ml * Gamblin Solvent-Free Fluid painting medium gives oil colors more flow and transparency. It has a moderately fast drying rate and increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, Gamblin Solvent-Free Fluid is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. To ensure proper drying and prevent beading-up of paint layers, Solvent-Free Fluid should be used in moderation with oil colors – no more than 25% by volume. To avoid wrinkling, apply mixtures of Solvent-Free Fluid and oil colors thinly. For underpainting, we recommend adding Gamsol to Solvent-Free Fluid. Solvent-Free Fluid is available in the following sizes: 4.2oz, 8.5 oz & 16.9 oz. * Gamblin Safflower Oil is a pale, slow-drying oil. When used as a painting medium, Safflower Oil to colors increases flow and slows dry times. Use sparingly or mix with an equal amount Gamsol to create a traditional slow-drying, low-viscosity painting medium. To paint solvent-free, we recommend Gamblin Safflower Oil for cleaning brushes while you are working. Solvent-Free Safflower Oil is available in the following sizes: 8.5 oz & 16.9 oz. The biggest difference between the Solvent-Free Fluid and the Gel is their consistency. The Fluid medium more significantly increases the flow of oil colors off of the brush. In terms of its working properties, it is similar to either straight linseed or safflower, though faster-drying. Brush-marks will be slightly leveled, or “rounded” when using the Fluid. Drying Time: In regards to their drying, these mediums have a “moderately fast” drying rate – meaning that thin layers will dry to the touch in approximately 36 – 48 hours. Because they rely solely on oxidation to dry, they have a longer working time compared to our Galkyd mediums, which begin to tack up as their Gamsol content evaporates from paint layers. See More

More Permanent. Gamblin Oil Painting mediums offer a great deal more than simply extending oil colors. Mediums modify the working properties of oil color from the tube – from a fluid consistency for expressive mark making to a stiff paste for creating thick, crisp marks. Painting mediums also broaden the visual qualities of our colors – from increasing the transparency of paint layers, to creating a range of surface qualities, from high gloss to matte. Gamblin’s family of Galkyd painting mediums and Cold Wax Medium are formulated with Gamsol. We recommend only Gamsol for thinning these materials. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil - Processed from flax seeds. This linseed is the purest and lightest industrially produced variety. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil - Made from the first pressing of flax seeds without heat or chemicals of any kind. Cold Wax Medium - Made from natural white unbleached beeswax. Mix directly into colors. Cold Wax creates an ultra-thick, matte impasto. For greater shine and flexibility mix with Galkyd medium. "G-Gel" - Made from alkyd resin, Galkyd Gel is a colorless oil color additive that accelerates the drying rate of oil colors and enables artists to create thick transparent paintings with a moderate sheen. Galkyd Painting Medium - Alkyd based resin painting medium that thins oil paints and maintains a strong flexible paint film. Galkyd speeds the drying rate and is excellent for glazing providing an enamel like finish. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Painting Medium Lite No.2 - This low viscosity alkyd resin painting medium is a good replacement for traditional damar/ linseed oil/ turpentine combination mediums. Galkyd Lite dries within about 3 hours to a subdued gloss, and will maintain your brush strokes. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Slow Drying Medium - Especially formulated to thin oil colors and give painters extended working time. To use mix equal portions of medium with oil colors to paint wet for at least a day. Since this product should not be diluted you may want to purchase the larger size. Gamsol - Quality solvent and medium and for general oil painting. Gamsol is also an excellent studio and brush cleaner. Odorless Mineral Spirits -Gamsol is the safest solvent that allows oil painters to utilize all traditional painting techniques without compromise. Primary Uses for Gamsol - Thinning oil colors, Modifying painting mediums, Studio clean up.Gamsol is a petroleum distillate but all the aromatic solvents have been refined out of it, less than .005% remains. Gamvar - Conservation quality varnish for oil, acrylic and alkyd paintings. This resin varnish may be removed with a mild solvent and contains a UV stabilizer. Developed in association with the National Gallery of Art. Package makes enough varnish to cover 80 sq ft. Once varnish is applied surface will have a uniform gloss apperance. Neo-Megilp - When mixed into oil colors Neo-Megilp makes them richer and deeper and finished paintings have a luminous glow! Neo-Megilp will not darken or crack over time. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Oil Painting Ground - For strong, bright foundations of oil paintings. Requires only 2 coats. Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide and barium sulfate. Stiffer than traditional gesso. PVA Size - Use as a barrier size between linen or cotton canvas instead of rabbit skin glue. Remains flexible and won't yellow, shrink or swell. Poppy Oil - Poppy Oil's slow drying time may be useful for painters using "wet into wet" techniques. Adding 10% by volume poppy oil slows down the drying time of Gamblin Galkyd Painting Mediums. Rabbit Skin Glue - Gamblin's Rabbit Skin Glue is the traditional size for fabric support on panels. It seals porous fabric and isolates it from ground or oil paints. Stretching the canvas is easy, because the size shrinks as it dries. Safflower Oil- Gamblin's Safflower Oil is a pale, slow-drying oil. Safflower oil increases flow of oil colors and slows dry time. Use sparingly or mix with an equal amount of Gamsol to create a traditional slow-drying, low-viscosity painting medium. Solvent-Free Gel Medium - This unique, non-toxic blend of safflower oil and alkyd resin gives colors more flow and transparency, yet holds brushstrokes well. It has a moderately fast drying rate, increases gloss, and supports the broadest range of painting techniques with the least compromise across color, dry time, texture and mark-making. Contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Solvent-Free Fluid Medium- Gamblin's Solvent-Free Fluid Mediumgives oil colors more flow and transparency, It has a moderately fast drying rate that increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, this medium is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Stand Oil - Vacuum bodied heavy oil which can be used in painting and glazing mediums. Dries to an enamel like finish. Traditional Gesso - Gamblin's Traditional Gesso is a dry mixture of rabbit skin glue, gypsum, marble dust, and titanium dioxide. Paintings on gesso are more matte because of the high absorbency of traditional gesso. Wax Pastilles - Small beads of naturally white unbleached beeswax.* See More

Glazing techniques, accelerating or retarding drying time — effects not achievable with water are all now available in LUKAS Berlin Water-Mixable Oil Painting Mediums! * Berlin Modified Linseed Oil - High quality, modified oil for use as a water-miscible oil painting medium. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil makes oil colour "fatter". It reduces viscosity for better flow while adding transparency and gloss. Drying Poppy Oil - Extracted from the seeds of the poppy plant. Drying Poppy Oil makes oil colour "fatter" and has a pale character. The fast drying oil stabilizes a colour’s film. Dries more slowly than linseed oil and preserves good, clear colours even in the spectrum of light colours. Drying Linseed Oil - Fastest drying linseed oil, increases gloss, transparency, and reduces consistency. It decreases the consistency and transparency of the oil paint. Add to other oils to accelerate drying times. Linseed Stand Oil - For glazing and as an alternative for Refined Linseed Oil, due to its pale colour and excellent levelling. Linseed Stand Oil makes oil colour "fatter". It's a pale viscous oil that slows drying while imparting a smooth, tough enamel finish with no brush marks. Refined Linseed Oil - A low viscosity alkali refined oil of pale colour that dries slowly. Refined Linseed Oil makes oil colour "fatter". It reduces the consistency of the paint. Slower drying variant of the linseed oils. Add to fast drying oils to balance drying times. Bleached Linseed Oil - A refined pale oil which will improve the flow of colour and dries slightly faster than Refined Linseed Oil. Use with pale colours and white. Thickened Linseed Oil - Amber coloured, partially oxidised oil. Makes oil colour "fatter". A faster drying viscose oil. Can be used in combination with Sansodor to accelerate drying rates further. Safflower Oil - Extracted from the seeds of the safflower plant. Makes oil colour "fatter" and has a pale character. It's a slow drying oil that stabilizes paint film. Use with whites, pale and bright colours. The pale colour preserves the brightness of pigments. Skin contact for some people will not cause any problems, but because of the high concentration please be aware and take precautions when using Spike Oil or any other solvents. Allergies: Spike Lavender, in rare cases can be considered an allergen, as are many essential oils like Tea Tree Oil, etc. So all products containing Spike (the solvent, mediums and varnishes) see warnings regarding safety and clear directions for usage.
