Rated 5 out of 5 by Mstrick96 from The perfect varnish! I am now using only Gamvar to varnish my oil paintings. I use the glossy version mostly but have the matte version available. I like a gloss finish on my oils. The best feature is the fact that I can varnish my painting as soon as it is touch dry, usually within two or three weeks. This means I can deliver a varnished painting much faster than before without having to worry about trying to retrieve the painting in six months for varnishing. Gamvar protects the painting and also allows it to fully cure while it is hanging on the patron's wall! Removing it for retouching is easy as well. Pretty much the perfect varnish!
