Handmade in Germany, both the squirrel and synthetic brushes feature brass ferrules and cedar handles. For our Natural Dagger Stripers, we use the sought-after winter coat of the Blue Squirrel's tail which is highly prized for its length, superb tip, and elasticity. The soft blue-black hair is highly absorbent and when wet comes to an exceptionally fine point. Squirrel hair has little or no spring and is perfect for creating precise linear strokes. Thanks to the recent advances in synthetic hair technology we have designed an economy line of New York Central® Synthetic Dagger Stripers that mimic the properties of Blue Squirrel hair almost exactly. When pressure is applied to the New York Central® Dagger Striper and the brush 'twisted' through the stroke you can create curved lines. The sizes range from 00 through 4 and are best used between a 20 and 45-degree angle to the painting surface.
