Painting mediums also broaden the visual qualities of our colors – from increasing the transparency of paint layers to creating a range of surface qualities, from high gloss to matte. Gamblin’s family of Galkyd painting mediums and Cold Wax Medium are formulated with Gamsol. We recommend only Gamsol for thinning these materials. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil - Processed from flax seeds. This linseed is the purest and lightest industrially produced variety. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. 3-in-1 Oil MediumGamblin 3-in-1 Oil Medium is an all-around lean and thin painting medium that you can think of as a thinner version of Galkyd Lite. 3-in-1 Oil Medium can be used to seal panels and is great for oiling out before varnishing. First, it's a terrific all-around lean and thin painting medium. Second, It's ideal for oiling out a painting before deciding if the painting is ready to varnished or if there's more painting to be done.
