Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! As an oil painter, it is important to work on oil primed surfaces. First, oil on oil will provide the best chemical bond for the paint layers that go on, afterwards. Da Vinci Pro Resist-Grip Panel 18"x24", 3/4" DeepSave Up to76%Off listWhite Superbly Crafted For Permanent Works Of Art- Resist-Grip Panels If you paint with acrylics or encaustics, Da Vinci Pro Resist-Grip Textured Gesso Panels are the very best primed surface ever created for your medium. The coarse texture grips heavy bodied acrylics extremely well and allows for an endless array of layering without any problems, whether with thin glazes or heavy impasto layers. For encaustics, the toothy primer grabs hold firmly to lower layers, providing a strong firm support for subsequent layers to adhere to. It is also the very first panel surface that offers a real tooth for grabbing hold of pastels and colored pencils, allowing layering and blending with ease. Just carefully seal with several light coats of archival spray for pastels, and you won't have to place your pastel or colored pencil art under glass. For other works, seal with the appropriate fixative for your medium (or varnish for paintings), for a frameless, dramatic presentation of your artwork. Centurion Deluxe Oil Primed 18"x24" Linen Panel, 3 PackSave Up to84%Off listWhite Master Quality Archival Deluxe Linen Panels! Superb performance and color retention! Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming As an oil colorist it is important to work on oil primed surfaces and not universal primed surfaces. The reason is that universal primed surfaces are semi-absorbent. Gesso is absorbent even if it is plate smooth. The paint does not get absorbed as much and sits on the surface more making it easy to blend and manipulate. Granted it is not highly absorbent but the fact remains that some oil will get into the primer and flatten the image. You can get around this by using an under-painting oil ground on top of the surface of a universal ground canvas but this is very time consuming and expensive. Unlike universal ground, our oil priming chemically bonds with the oil paint and is non-absorbent allowing the paint to sit up on the surface with the correct refraction quality of the oil binder. If you use any high-quality oil color we urge you to use an oil primed surface and now we make it affordable! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! Centurion Deluxe Professional Oil Primed Linen Panels, specifically designed for oil painters. Superb receptive surface accepts even the thinnest oil color lay down without fragmenting on the surface and is a permanent surface as colors adhere better on it than any other oil primed canvas on the market today! Acid-free and archival, the primed medium-textured linen is cleanly wrapped and adhered to a solid 3mm MDF wood board. Key Features:* Acid-free, Archival Linen Panels* 11oz. Oil Primed* Made of medium weight linen* Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming* Mounted on 3mm (1/8") MDF wood board* Medium weight and texture* Non warping Perfect For:* Artists of all skill levels* Oil and Alkyd Painting* Archival Longevity* Linen Lovers expecting the best!* Professional Artists, Commissioned work* Traveling, takes up 1/4 the space of a 3/4" canvas For a good value on a smooth linen panel, this is it! Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel Oil Medium 150ml TubeSave Up to25%Off list…is a colorless oil color additive that accelerates the drying rate of oil colors and enables artists to create thick transparent paintings with a moderate sheen. Galkyd Painting Medium - Alkyd based resin painting medium that thins oil paints and maintains a strong flexible paint film. Galkyd speeds… True to historic working properties. Safer. More Permanent. Gamblin Oil Painting mediums offer a great deal more than simply extending oil colors. Mediums modify the working properties of oil color from the tube – from a fluid consistency for expressive mark making to a stiff paste for creating thick, crisp marks. Painting mediums also broaden the visual qualities of our colors – from increasing the transparency of paint layers, to creating a range of surface qualities, from high gloss to matte. Gamblin’s family of Galkyd painting mediums and Cold Wax Medium are formulated with Gamsol. We recommend only Gamsol for thinning these materials. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil - Processed from flax seeds. This linseed is the purest and lightest industrially produced variety. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil - Made from the first pressing of flax seeds without heat or chemicals of any kind. Cold Wax Medium - Made from natural white unbleached beeswax. Mix directly into colors. Cold Wax creates an ultra-thick, matte impasto. For greater shine and flexibility mix with Galkyd medium. "G-Gel" - Made from alkyd resin, Galkyd Gel is a colorless oil color additive that accelerates the drying rate of oil colors and enables artists to create thick transparent paintings with a moderate sheen. Galkyd Painting Medium - Alkyd based resin painting medium that thins oil paints and maintains a strong flexible paint film. Galkyd speeds the drying rate and is excellent for glazing providing an enamel like finish. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Painting Medium Lite No.2 - This low viscosity alkyd resin painting medium is a good replacement for traditional damar/ linseed oil/ turpentine combination mediums. Galkyd Lite dries within about 3 hours to a subdued gloss, and will maintain your brush strokes. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Slow Drying Medium - Especially formulated to thin oil colors and give painters extended working time. To use mix equal portions of medium with oil colors to paint wet for at least a day. Since this product should not be diluted you may want to purchase the larger size. Gamsol - Quality solvent and medium and for general oil painting. Gamsol is also an excellent studio and brush cleaner. Odorless Mineral Spirits -Gamsol is the safest solvent that allows oil painters to utilize all traditional painting techniques without compromise. Primary Uses for Gamsol - Thinning oil colors, Modifying painting mediums, Studio clean up.Gamsol is a petroleum distillate but all the aromatic solvents have been refined out of it, less than .005% remains. Gamvar - Conservation quality varnish for oil, acrylic and alkyd paintings. This resin varnish may be removed with a mild solvent and contains a UV stabilizer. Developed in association with the National Gallery of Art. Package makes enough varnish to cover 80 sq ft. Once varnish is applied surface will have a uniform gloss apperance. Neo-Megilp - When mixed into oil colors Neo-Megilp makes them richer and deeper and finished paintings have a luminous glow! Neo-Megilp will not darken or crack over time. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Oil Painting Ground - For strong, bright foundations of oil paintings. Requires only 2 coats. Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide and barium sulfate. Stiffer than traditional gesso. PVA Size - Use as a barrier size between linen or cotton canvas instead of rabbit skin glue. Remains flexible and won't yellow, shrink or swell. Poppy Oil - Poppy Oil's slow drying time may be useful for painters using "wet into wet" techniques. Adding 10% by volume poppy oil slows down the drying time of Gamblin Galkyd Painting Mediums. Rabbit Skin Glue - Gamblin's Rabbit Skin Glue is the traditional size for fabric support on panels. It seals porous fabric and isolates it from ground or oil paints. Stretching the canvas is easy, because the size shrinks as it dries. Safflower Oil- Gamblin's Safflower Oil is a pale, slow-drying oil. Safflower oil increases flow of oil colors and slows dry time. Use sparingly or mix with an equal amount of Gamsol to create a traditional slow-drying, low-viscosity painting medium. Solvent-Free Gel Medium - This unique, non-toxic blend of safflower oil and alkyd resin gives colors more flow and transparency, yet holds brushstrokes well. It has a moderately fast drying rate, increases gloss, and supports the broadest range of painting techniques with the least compromise across color, dry time, texture and mark-making. Contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Solvent-Free Fluid Medium- Gamblin's Solvent-Free Fluid Mediumgives oil colors more flow and transparency, It has a moderately fast drying rate that increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, this medium is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Stand Oil - Vacuum bodied heavy oil which can be used in painting and glazing mediums. Dries to an enamel like finish. Traditional Gesso - Gamblin's Traditional Gesso is a dry mixture of rabbit skin glue, gypsum, marble dust, and titanium dioxide. Paintings on gesso are more matte because of the high absorbency of traditional gesso. Wax Pastilles - Small beads of naturally white unbleached beeswax.* See More

Williamsburg Handmade Oil Paint - Italian Yellow Ochre, 150ml TubeSave Up to30%Off listYellow Handmade Master Quality Oil Paints - Manufactured In The U.S.A! Getting the proper pigment is just the beginning! So much of the quality of oil paint is in the grinding. Each color is ground to enhance the beauty and luminosity specific to that particular pigment. Some colors by nature will feel slightly gritty, others extremely smooth. For instance, Cerulean Blue will have a beautiful velvet, light-absorbing surface with an extremely strong covering power; Siennas, by comparison, are often chunky or gritty to allow light to travel through the vehicle, exposing rich golden or mahogany undertow instead of just heavy, dull browns. Pigments are ground in pure alkali-refined, ph balanced linseed oil, and made in batches no larger than 5 gallons at a time. This gives total control over the paint, much like late 19th-century French color makers. All materials are hand measured, and every ounce of paint is scrutinized. Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors are then packaged in 37ml and 150ml non-reactive aluminum tubes. Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors are used by the world’s finest artists, whose works can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA in New York City, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Beaubourg in Paris. Based on over 175 years of experience, Charvin fine artists' oils use some of the oldest recipes still in use. These recipes are the same used to make oil colors for artists since 1830. Charvin Fine Oil Colors use a combination of the finest in traditional and modern pigments, bound with a blend of linseed and non-yellowing poppy oils, for a smooth, creamy consistency and vibrant color. The toxic and caustic pigments are also removed and replaced with modern, safe pigments of the highest quality and permanence. Elite Quality Paint! One of the most honored and time-tested recipes for oil color production Only the very finest pigments are selected for making Charvin colors. The color makers at Charvin expertly and slowly produce the oil color much in the same way that wine makers ensure that the product will have a true character and lovely finish. Charvin Professional Oil Paint Extra-Fine, Blue Shadow - 150mlSave Up to52%Off listBlue LUXURY THAT INSPIRES! Luxury Artist Oils from the French Riviera, perfect for Plein air painting! Based on over 175 years of experience, Charvin has created high-quality oil paint at an extremely reasonable price point. Charvin Extra Fine Professional Oil Paints use a combination of the finest in traditional and modern pigments, bound with a blend of linseed and non-yellowing poppy oils, for a smooth, creamy consistency and vibrant color. Charvin Maison de Haute Couleur ("House of High Color") has been meticulously creating fine artists' oil colors, serving artists like Cezanne, Bonnard, and Ambrogiani. Using only the highest-grade pigments that are triple-milled to the finest particle size, Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colors span a naturally progressing color range from the subtlest shades to brilliant hues. The main binding ingredient in Charvin Extra Fine oils is poppy oil, which dries slower than linseed oil (but without its tendency to yellow over time), and provides a rich creaminess to the paint. Permanent and light-fast, Charvin Extra Fine Oils are designed to accurately reflect the hues of nature, making them ideal for Plein air painting. The smooth and creamy texture lends itself perfectly to Alla prima painting, yet the high pigment concentration also allows the paint to be thinned down to the most subtle and luminous glazes (as with any Poppy Oil-based paint, remember to follow the fat over-lean method of painting). Largest color range in the world! The Charvin Extra Fine palette is available in 20ml, 60ml, or 150ml tubes. From the palettes of the masters to your own paint box: bring the experience of centuries and the brilliance of the Riviera to your own paintings with Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colors! Each pure Richeson pigment is ground to its own correct degree of fineness and formulated under exacting laboratory controls. . During the manufacturing process, great care is taken to avoid overworking the pigment. The amount of time required for the milling process varies for each color – anywhere from six hours to three days. The amount of oil required for each pigment varies because each pigment absorbs at a different rate. Richeson uses only pure, artist-grade, dry pigments. The finest grade of alkali-refined linseed oil is used to make non-yellowing colors. This type of oil is well-known for its excellent color stability. “Straw" in color, the oil has a minimal effect on pigment colorization and will not darken with age. Certain colors, such as whites, flesh colors, ice blue, and brilliant yellow light, use safflower oil. With these sensitive pigments that yellow easily, safflower oil produces a much better non-yellowing color. Where appropriate, we use a blend of linseed and safflower oil, producing the best possible finished product. Click on the item number to view the contents of each set. See More

Grumbacher Pre-Tested MG Underpainting White, 150 ml TubeSave Up to42%Off listWhite Designed to achieve various techniques! Grumbacher painting mediums guarantee that paint attributes are not compromised but enhanced. These mediums thicken or thin without harming the color's adhesive, binding, or film-forming qualities. Myriad effects such as increased flow and open time or rapid drying of color are all possible. Grumbacher has selected oils, resins, and solvents to guard against yellowing and cracking, and the ingredients have proven themselves over many generations of use. Key Features: * Accelerate or slow drying time * Increases gloss & translucency * Outstanding working properties * Made in the USA * Perfect For: * Traditional or alkyd oil paints * Enhancing paint characteristics * Dry transparent or translucent * Maintaining consistency * Preserving gloss Alkyd Painting Medium: Speeds drying time and gives a nice painterly consistency to alkyd and oil colors. Alkyd Medium enhances transparency and clarity of the paint. The color appears rich and intense. Cobalt Drier: The recommended drier for fine arts oil paintings. Add to oil painting medium in drops as opposed to adding directly to oil paint. Cobalt Drier is a powerful additive for oil paints and should be used sparingly. Test medium before applying it to an oil painting. Overuse may cause cracking of paint film when drying. Copal Painting Medium: has a resinous consistency perfect for glazing and wet-on-wet techniques. Copal painting medium is an oil paint additive that speeds drying time. This medium increases paint flow and imparts a high gloss and hardness when dried. Copal painting medium may cause yellowing or darkening of colors over long periods. Only dilute with turpentine or Grumtine as petroleum-based solvents, and odorless thinners are not compatible with this product. Damar Varnish: A final varnish for oil painting that imparts a high gloss finish. Processed with pure gum damar, Damar Varnish protects oil paintings from dirt and scuffing. Japan Drier: A solid alkyd resin-based liquid drier for artists' oil colors. Japan Drier is used primarily for oil gilding. It is an alkali based drier that may cause yellowing or darkening of colors over time. Odorless Thinner: is a clear, organic solvent for thinning oil colors, cleaning brushes, and painting accessories. Oil Painting Medium No. 1: Use when a matte finish is desired, especially on absorbent gesso grounds. Made from poppy seed oil, copaiba, balsam, and solvent. Oil Painting Medium No. 2: For use with oils to retard drying time. It contains poppy seed oil, mastic resin, alkyd resin, and grumtine. Oil Painting Medium No. 3: Accelerates drying time. It contains copaiba, balsam, stand oil, mastic resin, alkyd resin, cobalt, and manganese driers. Pale Drying Oil: Accelerates drying time of oil colors. Consists of linseed oil and manganese drier. Poppy Seed Oil: An excellent quality, slow drying, purified oil that retards drying time. It provides superior color retention and resistance to yellowing. PreTested Linseed Oil: Linseed oil has several uses in oil painting. It can be used as a paint binder ingredient when mixing colors from powdered pigments, in oil painting medium recipes, and added directly to oil paints to make colors glossy and fluid. This oil is made from the finest quality purified alkali-refined linseed oil. Retouch Varnish: For brightening uneven areas of oil paintings. An excellent varnish for protecting pictures until the final varnishing. Stand Oil: A flexible, very heavy-bodied purified oil for use in preparing mediums—excellent resistance to yellowing. Sun-Thickened Linseed Oil: Sun-thickened linseed oil is heavier in body and can be appplied directly to paint or used in glaze mediums, clear varnishes and emulsions. It is an extremely flexible medium derived from purified oil and can be pre-diluted with turpentine, Grumtine or Pre-tested odorless thinner. The linseed oil lends an enamel-like quality to oil color. See More

This oil primer is specially formulated to produce beautiful results with oil paints: as it is non-absorbent, the oils in the paint are allowed to sit up on the surface, making for luminous, refractive effects only possible with oil paints used on the proper ground. Once primed and dried, the canvas is stretched onto an innovative designed solid pine stretcher bars — instead of the standard tongue-and-groove join of regular stretcher bars, these bars feature slot-lap joins that are far less likely to go out of square. In addition, the 1" deep by 2-1/4" wide stretchers offer more support to the canvas, as the bulk of the size is in the width. Larger size canvases also feature 3/4" deep by 2-1/4" wide cross braces for added support. * Premium, classic European-style stretched linen canvas * Texture of the surface is in the medium range * Linen is hand-washed and pumiced for a fine surface * Luxurious non-absorbent, non-yellowing, off white oil primer * Bars feature slot-lap joins that are far less likely to go out of square * 1" deep by 2-1/4" wide stretchers offer more support to the canvas * Larger size canvases also feature 3/4" deep by 2-1/4" wide cross braces for added support * Hand-sanded between coats for excellent adhesion * Innovative stretcher and cross bar system stays square * Meticulously inspected at each stage of manufacture * The finest painting support for oil colors, crafted without compromise! The canvas is wrapped onto the stretchers and tacked along the sides with traditional copper tacks, a method that distributes the stress of the canvas more securely and ensures the strength of the stretching over time. The overlapping canvas corners are not cut, but folded carefully, and excess canvas is stapled onto the back of the stretcher frame, making for easy re-stretching if ever necessary. Once finished, each canvas is individually inspected and only once inspection is passed is it stamped with the Paris logo on the back of the product. Finally, cardboard corner protectors are added to prevent damage in shipping or storage, so the canvas that arrives to you is perfect in every way.
