Gamblin has developed FastMatte Alkyd Oil Colors specifically with the needs of the artist in mind. The alkyd resin binder lets Gamblin FastMatte colors dry quickly but thoroughly, allowing multiple layers to be built up without disturbing previous ones. It is the matte surface, however, that makes Gamblin FastMatte colors so revolutionary: when used as an underpainting layer, the matte surface of the alkyd colors provides a mild tooth similar to that of ground, ensuring the proper adhesion of further oil layers when following the fat over lean rule. TERRE GREZZE D'ITALIA OILS (RAW LANDS OF ITALY) Italian Natural Earth Colours by Maimeri are 11 natural shades in the Italian Natural Earths line producing harmony and warmth of Italian earth tones. These colours derive from the ancient pigments always used to create the colours characteristic of the various Italian schools of painting. The colours of Roman villas, of Venetian palaces, of the towns of Umbria and Tuscany. The grain size of the pigment is larger than in traditional oil colours. The paste is thicker, the appearance more opaque for a different refraction of the light. These colours can be mixed with any oil paint devoid of organically synthesized colourants. Only a few decades ago, Italy was the main producer of earth pigments for use by industry and artisans. Getting the proper pigment is just the beginning! So much of the quality of oil paint is in the grinding. Each color is ground to enhance the beauty and luminosity specific to that particular pigment. Some colors by nature will feel slightly gritty, others extremely smooth. For instance, Cerulean Blue will have a beautiful velvet, light-absorbing surface with an extremely strong covering power; Siennas, by comparison, are often chunky or gritty to allow light to travel through the vehicle, exposing rich golden or mahogany undertow instead of just heavy, dull browns. Pigments are ground in pure alkali-refined, ph balanced linseed oil, and made in batches no larger than 5 gallons at a time. This gives total control over the paint, much like late 19th-century French color makers. All materials are hand measured, and every ounce of paint is scrutinized. Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors are then packaged in 37ml and 150ml non-reactive aluminum tubes. Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors are used by the world’s finest artists, whose works can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA in New York City, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Beaubourg in Paris. Old Holland Classic Oil Colors & SetsSave Up to44%Off list…Oil Painters * Pigment Afficionados * Making paint go further * Upgrading to Professional Oils * Highest Quality Paints You Can use Old Holland Oil Sets of 10: Want to blow the oil painter in your life away and make their artist friends swoon with envy? Old Holland Classic Oil Colors Sets… Considered one of the Finest Oil Paints In the World! Manufacturing pigments since 1664, Old Holland Classic Oil Colors are still considered today as one of the top oil paints in the world! Boasting artists like Van Gogh, Vermeer, and other Dutch Masters that used their pigments and paints, Old Holland uses only pure, cold-pressed linseed oil as a binder with the highest possible pigment loads, creating brilliantly concentrated paints that provide exceptional covering power, strength of color, and color intensity. All Old Holland Classic Oil Paints are completely lightfast except for the Madder Lakes and Cremnitz White, which are nearly lightfast. All Old Holland oils are manufactured using stone rollers only, as the colors of the paint will not change due to metal oxidations (which will alter Cadmium colors). All colors are completely free of cheap fillers and artificial dryers like other premium paints contain. Although Old Holland Oils initially may seem very expensive, the heavy concentration of pigment is actually an exceptional value, given the covering power of the paint and minimum amount needed for color mixing. One tube of their highest possible concentration of pigment equals the pigment contained in 2 to three tubes of other professional brands! Old Holland Classic Oil Colors come in 40ml and 225ml tubes. Cremnitz White, Flake White, Mixed White, Titanium White, and Zinc White can be purchased in 125ml and 225ml tubes, as well as 475ml cans. Gamblin Ground is formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate – titanium dioxide gives opacity, while calcium carbonate gives tooth for strong adhesion. Gamblin Ground makes a brighter and less-absorbent ground layer compared to acrylic “gesso” – meaning that oil paint layers on top will better retain their color saturation. In addition, the lower absorbency allows for “reductive” underpainting techniques when painters need to wipe back to the white of the Ground. Key Features:* See video - Ground Application* Makes a strong, bright, non-absorbent foundation for oil paintings* Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate* Brighter and less-absorbent ground layer * Oil paint layers on top will better retain their color saturation* Lower absorbency * Thicker than acrylic gesso* Can be applied on top of acrylic gesso Because the percentage of pigments is so much higher than in acrylic “gesso”, painters need only apply TWO coats of Gamblin Ground instead of the recommended four coats of acrylic. Fabric supports should be sized with PVA Size before applying Gamblin Ground. Also, Gamblin Ground can be applied on top of acrylic gesso for a brighter white, less-absorbent ground layer. Gamblin Ground is thicker than acrylic gesso, and requires different application techniques See More

It may cause some yellowing with age. Cold-Pressed Linseed Oil- The simplest form of natural oil, cold-pressed linseed oil, is lighter in color and yellows less than hot pressed or solvent extracted oils. DANIEL SMITH Cold-pressed Linseed Oil also creates a stronger film. Stand Oil– Stand oil, thicker than Linseed oil, prompts oil colors to gradually self-level as they dry, leaving minimal brush strokes. Stand oil is an inappropriate vehicle for making oil paint, but it makes an outstanding painting and glazing medium when diluted with turpentine and damar varnish. Enhances the fluidity of paint and enables brush strokes to be removed. Enhances gloss but lengthens the drying time, dries to a flexible, durable paint film. Used as an ingredient in custom painting mediums. Can be thinned with turpentine or white spirit. Bleached Linseed Oil - Cold pressed linseed oil which has been bleached to lighten the oil color, making it yellow less than traditional linseed oil, but dries slower, as well. Enhances the fluidity of paint and enables brushstrokes to be removed. Enhances gloss of paint film. Can be thinned with turpentine or white spirit. Stand Oil - Boiled polymerized linseed oil, thick to a honey-like consistency. A popular additive in painting mediums, especially for glazing mediums. Yellows less than linseed oil as has already begun the oxidation process. Dries more slowly than regular linseed oil, to a flexible and durable paint film. Refined Poppy Oil - Obtained from the first pressing of poppy seeds. Maintains many of the qualities of linseed oil, but yellows less when mixed with light colors and dries much more slowly. Use conservatively as Poppy Oil paint film dries more brittle than linseed oil. See More
