Granted, it is not highly absorbent, but the fact remains that some oil will get into the primer and flatten the image. You can get around this by using an under-painting oil ground on top of the surface of a universal ground canvas, but this is very time-consuming and expensive. Ceramic: With treated ceramics, fix your creation for non-food use using a water-based spray varnish, spraying from about 30 cm in small circular movements. With rough ceramics, fire your creation in the oven. Heat the ceramic in the oven slowly to 220°, then turn off the oven and allow it to cool completely before taking it out. Fix the paint on porcelain in the same way, but to a temperature of 160° and for no more than 45 minutes. Ventilation: All essential oils/solvents should be used appropriately and with ventilation and common sense usage. Skin contact: As with all essential oils, you should always avoid skin contact, especially if you have skin issues. Skin contact for some people will not cause any problems, but because of the high concentration please be aware and take precautions when using Spike Oil or any other solvents. Allergies: Spike Lavender, in rare cases can be considered an allergen, as are many essential oils like Tea Tree Oil, etc. So all products containing Spike (the solvent, mediums and varnishes) see warnings regarding safety and clear directions for usage. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil - Processed from flax seeds. This linseed is the purest and lightest industrially produced variety. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil - Made from the first pressing of flax seeds without heat or chemicals of any kind. Cold Wax Medium - Made from natural white unbleached beeswax. Mix directly into colors. Cold Wax creates an ultra-thick, matte impasto. For greater shine and flexibility mix with Galkyd medium.
