The leaves are arranged in paper booklets, loosely inset in compartments, one for each leaf. To cut the leaf out, one may take it from the booklet with a gelding knife and place it on a sheet of paper. Then, pick up the leaf with the gilder’s tip brush and place it onto the prepared surface. Each gold leaf can be burnished with a Guild Gold Agate Burnishing tool.
Keum-Boo (attached gold) is an ancient Korean jewelry technique. This method uses heat to fuse gold leaf to sterling silver or other metals. Agate burnishers are used to buff and brighten the resulting jewelry pieces.
