Centurion Deluxe Oil Primed Archival Linen Panel - 12" x 12" (Pack of 3)Save Up to84%Off listWhite Master Quality Archival Deluxe Linen Panels! Superb performance and color retention! Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming As an oil colorist, it is important to work on oil-primed surfaces and not universally primed surfaces. The reason is that universal primed surfaces are semi-absorbent. Gesso is absorbent even if it is plate smooth. The paint does not get absorbed as much and sits on the surface more making it easy to blend and manipulate. Granted, it is not highly absorbent, but the fact remains that some oil will get into the primer and flatten the image. You can get around this by using an under-painting oil ground on top of the surface of a universal ground canvas, but this is very time-consuming and expensive. Our primer does not contain zinc or lead. The main ingredients used in the coating of these panels are acrylic emulsion, titanium pigment, calcium carbonate, and alkyd resin. Unlike universal ground, our oil priming chemically bonds with the oil paint and is non-absorbent allowing the paint to sit up on the surface with the correct refraction quality of the oil binder. If you use any high-quality oil color, we urge you to use an oil-primed surface, and now we make it affordable! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! Centurion Deluxe Professional Oil Primed Linen Panels, specifically designed for oil painters. Superb receptive surface accepts even the thinnest oil color lay down without fragmenting on the surface and is a permanent surface as colors adhere better on it than any other oil primed canvas on the market today! Acid-free and archival, the primed medium-textured linen is cleanly wrapped and adhered to a solid 3mm MDF wood board. Key Features: * Acid-free, Archival Linen Panels * 11oz. The canvas texture seems just right, and the panels resist warping. I have only used them in fairly small sizes, maybe up to 9 x 12 at most, so can't attest to the stability of larger sizes, but have been very happy with what I've used." See More

This linen canvas has a fine weave and texture and is created with one coat of natural glue sealer and four coats of oil priming. The Italian priming method was developed over five centuries. The difference is the reliability of the material and the consistency of the finished product. Although processed entirely by hand, the modern assembly line and super clean workplace allow the finished product to be amazingly consistent and beautiful. See More

Yes, is plate smooth using only the finest close weaved cotton and primed three times to a super smooth surface. So smooth you can quickly draw on it. But here's the twist you can also paint on it with any media! The priming is the key. Imagine a canvas so versatile that it will accept any paint, ink, or marker you have in your studio. Imagine the possibilities. The Watercolor Surface - Many watercolorists draw with permanent marker as they create their watercolors. With this surface, you can draw right into your watercolor without feathering or smudging, or you can paint on top of the drawing. A unique twist to this canvas is that you can draw with a permanent marker and use the lines to form a resist for your watercolors. For traditional watercolor painting, the color sits right up on the surface and allows for easy lifting, scratching into the paint film, reworking the painted surface, and even layering for unique effects. Use with opaque or transparent colors. This canvas works best with tube watercolor and provides rich, vibrant expressions. Acrylics and Watercolors - You may want to start off playing with watercolors and gouache reworking or even removing areas then fine-tuning and finally finishing off the top layers with permanent acrylics. Of course, you don't need to use watercolors with your acrylics but you can if you want. You'll find this surface to be fantastic with virtually any acrylic based paint from heavy body to acrylic based inks to airbrush colors. Before applying watercolor, we suggest that you clean the canvas thoroughly with high-strength Isopropyl alcohol to remove any hand-oils from the canvas. Surface oils may have accumulated from manufacturing, packaging, or unwrapping the canvas. Cleaning the canvas should prevent the paint from beading up on the surface. See More
