Any additive used to alter the working properties of oil paint needs to be of equal quality for the continuity of paint film strength and durability. Winsor & Newton is proud to offer a unique selection of oils and mediums to enhance your oil painting experience. Drying oils control color, prevent over-thinning when mixed with solvents, and help maintain the flexibility of paint film. Key Features: * Accelerates the drying time * Increases gloss & translucency of colors * For information click on yellow technote icon Perfect For: * Making custom painting mediums * Accelerating the drying of oil colors * Professional oil painters * Maintaining consistency * Preserving gloss Cold Pressed Linseed Oil - An oil extracted without the use of heat. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil makes oil colour "fatter". It reduces viscosity for better flow while adding transparency and gloss. Drying Poppy Oil - Extracted from the seeds of the poppy plant. Drying Poppy Oil makes oil colour "fatter" and has a pale character. The fast drying oil stabilizes a colour’s film. Dries more slowly than linseed oil and preserves good, clear colours even in the spectrum of light colours. Drying Linseed Oil - Fastest drying linseed oil, increases gloss, transparency, and reduces consistency. It decreases the consistency and transparency of the oil paint. Add to other oils to accelerate drying times. Linseed Stand Oil - For glazing and as an alternative for Refined Linseed Oil, due to its pale colour and excellent levelling. Linseed Stand Oil makes oil colour "fatter". It's a pale viscous oil that slows drying while imparting a smooth, tough enamel finish with no brush marks. Refined Linseed Oil - A low viscosity alkali refined oil of pale colour that dries slowly. Refined Linseed Oil makes oil colour "fatter". It reduces the consistency of the paint. Slower drying variant of the linseed oils. Add to fast drying oils to balance drying times. Bleached Linseed Oil - A refined pale oil which will improve the flow of colour and dries slightly faster than Refined Linseed Oil. Use with pale colours and white. Thickened Linseed Oil - Amber coloured, partially oxidised oil. Makes oil colour "fatter". A faster drying viscose oil. Can be used in combination with Sansodor to accelerate drying rates further. Safflower Oil - Extracted from the seeds of the safflower plant. Makes oil colour "fatter" and has a pale character. It's a slow drying oil that stabilizes paint film. Use with whites, pale and bright colours. The pale colour preserves the brightness of pigments. Each color reaches a touch-dry state in less than 24 hours, making them ideal for fast working while still offering the working and optical properties of oils. Their unique luminosity makes them perfectly suited for glazing, particularly when used in combination with Liquin. Compatible with conventional oils, Griffin Alkyd Oils have excellent flow properties and dry to a durable, semi-gloss hard film that will not yellow over time. Made with an alkyd resin binder that has been modified with a non-yellowing drying oil for optimum color retention, excellent durability, and rapid drying time. 48 oil colors is available in 37ml tubes. Titanium White is also available in 200ml tubes. Key Features:* 48 oil colors, available in 37ml tubes* Faster drying time than traditional oils* Dry to the touch in 18 to 24 hours* Genuine oil color* Can be thinned with traditional oil color solvents* Can usually be varnished in 30 days* No compromise on lightfastness, color strength, and selection* Speed of drying allows techniques such as impasto and glazing to be done in considerably less time* Classed as artists' quality because the grinding of pigments* Dries to a durable, semi-gloss hard film* Will not yellow over time Perfect For:* Fast working while still offering the working and optical properties of oils* Colors remain workable for 4-8 hours* Oil painting outdoors* Clean with mineral spirits* Non-yellowing drying oil for optimum color retention* Glazing, particularly when used in combination with Liquin * Because alkyd film is slightly less flexible and is faster drying than traditional oil color, application over oil or oilbar layers is not recommended. Alkyd is not intermixible with acrylics. Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Drying Oil Color Alkyds are made from a naturally derived vegetable oil that is polymerized. The result is a resin-like product that, when mixed with a solvent, is very similar to traditional linseed oil. The colours remain workable for 4 to 8 hours and are touch dry in 18 to 24. Consistent drying times across the range removes the usual restrictions that come with conventional oils, making it easier to overpaint, regardless of the colour upon the surface. Artist Review Great Product! "I work on commissions all the time that sometimes require a short deadline. I feel much more confident in getting them done and out in time while using these oils. You can also mix them in with regular oil paint and usually that will speed up the drying times as well. Usually they are completely dry in 24 hours!" See More

The gentle, non-hazardous soap-based cleaner works within minutes for oil colors and hours for dried acrylics. Winsor & Newton Brush Cleaner leaves natural and synthetic brushes soft and clean while removing all paint residue. Key Features: * Gentle, effective brush cleaner * Soap-based formula * Non-hazardous and low-vapor * Foams a little when scrubbed Perfect For: * Natural and synthetic brushes * Oil, alkyd, and acrylic paint * Removing wet and dried paint * Cleaning palette knives and more The new soap-based Brush Cleaner is better than the old formulation. Winsor & Newton changed the product name from 'Brush Cleaner and Restorer' to 'Brush Cleaner' to clarify the differences. The new cleaner has a soap base that foams a little when scrubbed. Tip: Avoid contact with varnished or lacquered surfaces, such as brush handles, as the cleaner will soften any paint or stain on the handle. It's also best to use this cleaner at the end of your painting session and use a different rinse aid while painting. Instructions: Dip the brush into the liquid and scrub a little if necessary. The resulting foam will help rinse the pigments and binders out of the brush. Then, wipe the brush with a cloth and rinse with water. If the brush is very clogged, it may be necessary to soak it for longer, possibly overnight. You can use a rubber band or clamp to suspend the brush in the liquid. See More
