Image Transfer How-To Nearly any gel, medium, or acrylic paint will work to lift an image, depending on the texture, clarity, and color you want to trap the image within. 1. Apply the gel or paint, and while it is wet, place the image side of a printed laser paper copy directly into the wet gel. Let dry overnight. 2. Dampen the paper with a wet sponge. Wait a few minutes to allow water to soak paper. Begin rubbing carefully. Use a soft cloth or scrubbie to remove the paper. You will probably have to remove the paper a few times, for a clean transfer. When the water evaporates, you will be able to see the areas that you missed. See More

GOLDEN Gloss Medium is a general-purpose liquid medium useful for creating glazes, extending colors, enhancing translucency, and increasing film integrity. The medium has a unique oil-like feel and resinous nature that promotes flow and leveling. GOLDEN Gloss Medium is also the best product for blocking Support Induced Discoloration, also known a SID, which is when contaminants are drawn into paints and mediums as they dry. You can protect your canvas or board from this phenomenon by applying GOLDEN Gloss Medium before starting an acrylic painting. SID contamination often goes undetected. In most cases, paints contain a strong enough color to conceal the yellowing. However, in a transparent glaze and especially in thick gel layers, SID becomes obvious. Gloss Medium medium works best when two or more coats are applied directly onto the support. Once dry, the canvas can then be primed and finally painted with less potential for discoloration. You can treat pre-primed canvases with Gloss Medium as well. Apply two coats to the surface, and follow with at least one layer of gesso to regain tooth. Key Features: * General-purpose liquid polymer * Oil-like and resinous viscosity * Promotes flow and leveling * Perfect For: * Creating thin, fast-drying glazes * Extending colors, enhancing gloss, and increasing film integrity * Blocking Support Induced Discoloration (SID) See More

Key Features: * Protects against dirt and dust * Provides moisture resistance * Gloss, Satin, and Matte finishes * Ultraviolet Light Stabilizers (UVLS) Perfect For: * Protects against UV light * Final varnishing and protective layer * Providing dust resistance * Archival Fine-Art Protection GOLDEN Waterborne Varnish - is a water-based acrylic polymer that protects interior acrylic paintings from dust and ultraviolet light. The varnish contains Ultra Violet Light Stabilizers [UVLS] that protect your art from light exposure. Waterborne Varnish can be thinned and cleaned up with water, eliminating the need for harsh solvents, and you can remove it from a painting with household ammonia. GOLDEN Isolation Coat - is a ready-to-use sealing coat for acrylic paintings. Previously acrylic artists’ only recourse was to dilute Soft Gel Gloss with water (our former and still acceptable recommendation) before applying it to completed acrylic artwork. Isolation Coat eliminates the need to measure and mix while increasing flow and leveling. Isolation coat is a permanent acrylic medium that seals surface absorbency and allows for improved varnish application and easier varnish removal. Apply one or more layers before varnishing. What does golden isolation coat do? Isolation coat serves two purposes: Seals any absorbent areas in order to create an even surface on which to apply the varnish. Protects the painting if/or when the varnish is removed by separating the pigmented area of the painting from the solvents used in removal. GOLDEN Polymer Varnish with UVLS (Ultraviolet Light Stabilizers) - available in Matte, Satin, and Gloss finishes. A waterborne acrylic varnish that dries to a protective flexible and dust resistant surface over acrylic paint. Removable with ammonia. Health Labeled (HL) product, please read and follow instructions and guidelines. Not for use by children. Recommended for interior use only. See More

Clear Leveling gel dries to a flexible, high gloss film while imparting a leveling quality when mixed with acrylic paint. It blends well with GOLDEN Acrylic colors to produce glazes. Clear Tar Resin Gel: GOLDEN Clear Tar Gel is a 100% acrylic polymer colorless gel with an extremely resinous, syrupy, stringy, and tar-like consistency. Clear Tar Gel can be used to generate fine, detailed lines by "dripping" it over painting surfaces. It can be blended with all GOLDEN Acrylic paints, offering a full range of colors with which to work, although Fluid Colors work best. Golden Color Pouring Medium Matte opens the door to new creative possibilities, allowing artists to create pours with a velvety matte surface. Color Pouring Medium Gloss also known as GAC 800 is an excellent medium for creating glossy pours of acrylic colors. In addition to extending colors for pouring, this versatile medium is useful for improving adhesion to chalky surfaces like plaster or weathered paint. Tips for use: * Gently mix 10 parts Golden Color Pouring Medium Gloss or Matte with 1 part acrylic color, allow mixture to sit covered (ideally overnight) to eliminate air bubbles. * Pour close to the surface to reduce air bubbles. * Paintings may need to dry for a few days before moving. Do not pour thicker than 1/8” (3mm) or attempt to accelerate drying. Key Features: * Does not craze or crack * Designed to be poured in layers or puddles * 100% acrylic medium * High acrylic solids and reduced water content * Matte or glossy uniform surface * Use to adjust transparency or opacity Perfect For: * Acrylic paint * Dirty pour * Flip cup pour * Multiple color pour * Adhesion to chalky surfaces Color Pouring Medium may craze, but this is usually the result of too much paint being added and in turn, countering the acrylic solids level or the pour has been applied in too thick of a layer. This medium retains a slight cloudy quality making it a poor choice as a clear top coat or even transparent color layer. See More

The difference is that additives don't contain acrylic binders (like mediums do), so you must follow the label and use them in correct proportions. Most mediums can be added to the paint in any amount until you've achieved the desired effect, but additives can weaken the color and adhesion of the paint when overused. GOLDEN offers these two additives, which are a useful addition to any painters studio. Wetting Agent: Formerly known as Acrylic Flow Release - an additive used to reduce the surface tension of the water in the acrylic emulsion, thereby increasing the slickness and flow of the paint. It is useful for achieving rich stains on a porous surface. Not for use by children. Retarder: an additive used to increase the open (drying) time of acrylic paints. Useful for wet on wet techniques and reducing skinning on the palette. Key Features: * Increase open time * Reduce the surface tension of acrylic emulsion * Improve the slickness and flow of paint * No acrylic binders * Use them in correct proportions * Click the yellow circle icon for product information Perfect For: * Acrylic painting * Minimizing paint waste * Classroom, home, and studio * Teachers and students * All acrylic-friendly surfaces The retarder does not contain binding agents. It creates a toothy surface similar to papers used with pastel and chalk. For an even rougher texture, Fine or Coarse Pumice Gel can be added. GOLDEN Pastel Ground for Pastel can also be tinted with acrylic colors for colored grounds. (Golden acrylics). GOLDEN Pastel Ground is a 100% acrylic medium designed to prepare surfaces for the application of pastels, charcoal and other art media where a coarse tooth is desired. It contains finely ground sand (silica) in a pure acrylic emulsion. Pastel Ground can be applied to paper, canvas, wood or any primed support. This allows almost limitless applications for media typically confined to standard papers. Key Features:* Sizes: 8oz, 32oz & 1 Gallon* Creates toothy surface similar to papers* Acrylic preparation for pastels* Fine or Coarse Pumice Gel can be added* Can also be tinted with acrylic colors Pastel Ground can be used as a toothy, gritty ground for many different media, including: Dry Media:* Soft Pastels* Graphite Pencils* Colored Chalks* Charcoal* Powdered Charcoal Water-based Media: * Water-Soluble Pastels* Colored Pencils* Pastel Pencils* Wax Crayons* Watercolor Pencils* Acrylic Paints Oil-based Media: * Oil Pastels* Oil Sticks* Paint Sticks* Ink Sticks* Pigment Sticks* Oil Paints GOLDEN Pastel Ground Application Thinning Due to the weight of the solids in Ground for Pastels, it is produced very thick, and does not come ready to brush-apply. Thin 20-40% with water to desired consistency. Application Apply with brush, paint-roller, spray equipment, squeegee or palette knife. Mix up only as much as is needed for one day"s work, as the solids will settle rapidly and be extremely difficult to mix back into suspension. Surface Preparation Non-absorbent surfaces should be abraded for increased adhesion. Prime with GOLDEN Gesso or other suitable primers (depending on substrate). Apply one or more coats of GOLDEN Pastel Ground to achieve the desired tooth. On paper, use heavier weight stock to avoid buckling. Allow ground to fully dry before applying media. Color Additions Pastel Ground can be blended with GOLDEN Acrylic Paints to achieve colored grounds. However, add minimal amounts of color since all additions of paint to Ground will decrease the tooth. GOLDEN High Flow Acrylics and Fluid Acrylics blend easily into the ground without thickening the product. High Load Acrylics have the highest pigment load and therefore provide the most color in the least amount of paint. Unless transparency is desired, select paints that are inherently opaque, such as the Pyrroles or earth colors. This will allow lower additions as well. Airbrushing thin layers of color after the ground has dried will give the strongest saturation of color to the ground without affecting the gritty surface. See More

LUKAS Pouring… The Unique, next level of pouring medium! More of what you love and less of what you don't like about pouring! When added to acrylic paint, traditional pouring mediums generate random cells of color; as a result, most pourers add silicone to the mix to create more interesting shapes. LUKAS Pouring Medium is unique because you can create more dramatic effects without adding silicone and still produce spectacular cell formations. Other pouring mediums on the market such as Liquitex are very tacky until thoroughly dry causing dust particles to interfere with results. Surface defects from craters to cracks are a pitfall of traditional and household pouring mediums. LUKAS Pouring Medium is a real breakthrough because it dries to a beautiful satin sheen with almost no noticeable cavities and absolutely no cracking. The rule of thumb is the lower viscosity of the paint, such as ink, the smaller the ratio of the pouring medium, while thicker heavy body paint would receive a more significant portion of the medium. You can use virtually any acrylic based color, but we suggest richly pigmented colors! You can pour this flexible acrylic medium over almost any substrate, but it is better to pour on a hard flat surface such as a wooden panel. By changing mix ratios, variety of colors, viscosity, and types of substrates, it is almost impossible to run out of distinct variations. If you did five pours every day for the rest of your life, you’d only scratch the surface on the final creations you could create! LUKAS Pouring Medium is the next level of pouring medium designed to create the most beautiful and interesting pours. If for any reason you don’t feel that LUKAS Pouring Medium yields the best results in pouring, you can return it for a full refund. Key Features: * No need to add silicone for more cell formation* Pour over any hard flat surface* Dries to a permanent hard, water-resistant surface* Even sheen, non-tacky, satin sheen* Higher definition, greater cell formation* Smooth level surfaces, less defects* No cracks and no craters* Will not yellow or discolor over time* Less tacky* Dries to a permanent water resistant, crack free surface* Formulated with self leveling and anti crater additives* Impossible to run out of inspiration* Available In: 250ml, 500ml & 5 Liter(169oz / 1.32 gallons) Perfect For: * Dirty pours and cup pouring * Liquid pouring * Superb control and excellent definition * Creating interesting pours * Organic shape creation * Beautiful satin sheen * Everyday studio use * Pouring Medium Brochure Pouring Medium: V30392 or V30393 LUKAS pouring medium improves the flow characteristics of acrylic paints and is perfect for pouring techniques. Formulated to meet the unique needs of metal point artists, GOLDEN Silverpoint / Drawing Ground offers a metal receptive ground, applicable to a range of drawing supports. Developed for easy application, the ground has a very fluid consistency that will level as it dries. A Single coat of Silverpoint / Drawing Ground provides a smooth, durable surface, ideal for mark making with a silverpoint stylus or other metal, such as brass, gold, copper, or even a steel paperclip. It is a low viscosity fluid that contains high levels of titanium dioxide and prepares surfaces to readily accept marks from a metal stylus.Key Features:* Size: 8oz Bottle* Formulated with 100% acrylic polymer emulsion* Designed for the achievement of fine, detailed lines * Permanent, lightfast* More flexible over time than traditional preparations* Silverpoint / Drawing Ground offers a metal receptive ground* Developed for easy application* Very fluid consistency that will level as it dries* Provides a smooth, durable surface* Allows greater fineness of line with diverse drawing media such as graphite, colored pencil, ink, and some markers The artist working in silverpoint today has an intimate connection to the work of such revered artists as da Vinci and Rembrandt, as well as more recently, Picasso and Joseph Stella. As tiny particles of metal are left behind on a slightly abrasive ground, metal point drawing offers the ability to achieve lasting, exquisitely detailed lines that won't smudge. If different types of metal are used within a piece, over time oxidation of the different metals will impart subtle shifts in the tonality of the lines. As the time honored art form of metal point drawing experiences a resurgence, Golden Artist Colors responds to the requests of practicing artists by introducing Silverpoint/Drawing Ground. Designed for the achievement of fine, detailed lines, Silverpoint/Drawing Ground is permanent, lightfast and more flexible over time than traditional preparations. While many artists enjoy the fineness of line and delicate qualities achieved with a metal stylus on Silverpoint/Drawing Ground, the scope of this product should not be limited to a singular use. When used as a general drawing ground, other media may be intermixed with metal point drawing or used alone to create new effects. It is possible to adjust the absorbent qualities of substrates with Silverpoint/Drawing Ground. By putting a very thin layer of the ground over the entire surface, the substrate's absorbency is decreased. This allows greater fineness of line with Perse drawing media such as graphite, colored pencil, ink, and some markers. In addition, small amounts of other GOLDEN Fluid Acrylic colors can be added to this ground for tinting purposes without a significant drop in performance. GOLDEN SILVERPOINT/DRAWING GROUND APPLICATIONS GOLDEN Silverpoint / Drawing Ground is designed for thin applications only. When applied too thickly the film may crack upon curing. A single thin coat is typically sufficient. Silverpoint / Drawing Ground can generally be tinted with a maximum of 15% GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics without negatively affecting its performance It can be brush or spray applied to paper, primed canvas, wood or any surface that will accept a water-based coating. The most common substrate for metal point drawing is heavy weight hot pressed watercolor paper. Note: Because lower weight papers are susceptible to buckling from the moisture in the Silverpoint / Drawing Ground, some artists may find taping the edges down will help prevent extensive warping. Artist Testimonial and Review Great Medium--Just Apply It Quickly! "This medium sets up very quickly, and can be colored with acrylic paint if desired. Ensure that a less absorbent paper or surface is used, as you will have more time to apply it before it dries (you will also use less of it). Great product-I will definitely purchase this again." GAC (short for Golden Artist Colors) Specialty Acrylic Polymers are based on 100% acrylic polymer emulsions. GAC mediums can be used to extend acrylic colors, to regulate transparency, create glazes, increase gloss, reduce viscosity or improve adhesion and film integrity. The GAC polymers can also be used for binding pigment solids for various effects and surfaces. Unlike the other GOLDEN Mediums and Gels, GOLDEN GAC Acrylic Polymers have only a minimum amount of thickeners, levelers, defoamers and surfactants to ensure good film formation. The consistency of the GAC polymer medium is very fluid, and thinner than other GOLDEN Mediums. Since they do not have thickeners added, these polymers will reduce the thickness of most GOLDEN Acrylic Paints. Fluid Acrylics are slightly thicker than the GACs, but will be the color line least changed in viscosity with any addition of a GAC polymer. Each GAC medium represents a unique polymer that offers certain specific attributes. Therefore, each GAC medium will have its own unique benefits and applications. * GAC 100 Primer Extender Acrylic Polymer Medium: Universal acrylic polymer. Is a thin, translucent, gloss medium. Useful for thinning or extending colors as well as increasing flexibility. Wets out solids more readily than other polymers and is useful for creating homemade paints. GAC 100 provides basic protection from Support Induced Discoloration (SID) * GAC 200 Hard Acrylic Extender Polymer Medium: Promotes adhesion and film hardness. Hard acrylic extender for non-porous surfaces is the hardest and least flexible polymer we offer. It is Ideal for mixing with acrylic colors to increase film hardness, reduce dry film tack and to increase adhesion to many non-porous surfaces. Dries to a clear, high gloss, finish. GAC 200 is not recommended for flexible supports. * GAC 400 Low Crazing Acrylic Extender Polymer Medium: Stiffens textile fibers. Stiffens natural fibers and fabrics and is useful for stiffening unprimed canvas or sculpting and shaping fabric. Fibers saturated with GAC 400 will dry to a hard, stiff film. * GAC 500 Self-Leveling Acrylic Polymer Medium: Extends fluid acrylics. Gloss extender for Fluid Acrylic Colors is a unique balance of film hardness and flexibility offering increased leveling, increased mar resistance and decreased dry film tack. GAC 500 is particularly useful for extending Fluid Acrylic Colors with minimal property change. It can be mixed with Airbrush Transparent Extender for a fast-drying, sprayable isolation coat. * GAC 800 Low Crazing Acrylic Extender Polymer Medium (Pouring Medium): Reduces crazing. GAC 800 is a medium specifically produced to modify paints for pouring, such as when pouring a puddle onto a paint surface Is a low-crazing extender for pouring acrylic colors. "Crazing" is the formation crevices in surfaces that develop as acrylic paints and mediums dry. The addition of GAC 800 promotes drying with a smooth, even film, good gloss and flexibility, but with moderate clarity. GAC 800 is also useful for adhesion to chalky surfaces. * GAC 900 Fabric Medium: Fabric painting medium. Heat set fabric painting medium, offers a very soft hand and laundering stability. Mix with High Flow Acrylics to produce "tie-dye" effects, or blend with GOLDEN Heavy Body, Matte or Fluid Acrylics for brush or screen application.* See More
