Its synthetic nature creates a stable and chemically compatible environment. The ability for polyester to be spun and create a super fine thread allows for ability to create flawless, extra fine surfaces that are popular with portrait and realist painters. Art conservators use polyester for relining old delicate canvases; they can be adhered to the stretched polyester without the fear of buckling, thus providing a moisture-proof barrier between stretchers and the wall that archival lasts forever.
