Schmincke Horadam Watercolor Onetz, 15mlSave Up to40%Off listWhite Horadam Watercolors Outperform All The Rest! Schmincke has been producing its Horadam line of watercolors since 1881. Today the Horadam line includes 189 glorious colors, 152 of those colors have the highest lightfastness ratings of 4 or 5 stars. 95 of the colors are formed with a single pigment for perfect mixing effects. Each color has its own independently optimized recipe made of the finest pigments, Ox gall, and traditional binders. Schmincke uses only Kordofan Gum Arabic from the southern Sahara a natural resin binder. Horadam colors can be raised from a dried palette without developing globules. Colors that have dried on the palette can be awakened with a wet brush and reused an infinite number of times. Schmincke limits use of ONETZ (ox gall) as a dispersant. This helps the artist maintain full control of color, even on softer papers. Key Features: * Made in Germany * Highest possible lightfastness: 152 tones * 50 Granulating colors * Paint is reusable once dried on palette * Gum Arabic binding medium * Limited use of ox gall as a dispersant * High control of paint flow Perfect For: * Watercolorists * Professional artists with high standards * Illustrators * Color mixing * Plein Air painting * Soft sized papers Most of the Horadam watercolors are non-granulating and have an even paint flow, but 22 colors are granulating. You can spot granulating colors by the G stamped on the tube. Granulation is caused by: * Heavy pigment particles, like cobalt, settling in paper indentations. * Light pigment particles clustering together due to attraction. You can mix super granulating colors to create unusual color shifts. The granulating color shift will vary with the mixing ratio used. What is the right paper for granulation? The rule is: The rougher the paper, the greater the granulating effect. More absorbent papers need a little more water. Hot-pressed paper is unsuitable for granulating effects. Old Holland New Masters Classic Acrylic Colors Titanium White Extra Opaque 60 mlSave Up to25%Off listWhite Highest pigment load acrylics with a 100% pure acrylic medium Designed to have little color shift from wet to dry, Old Holland New Masters Acrylics hold the maximum possible pigment content as well as look and feel of classic oils straight from the tube. In 1998, Old Holland’s chemists began research in the area of acrylic paint colors, with the goal to create an exceptional professional acrylic paint line that was worthy of carrying the Old Holland name. The project was dubbed "New Masters" as a long-held dream of the late owner Professor Theo de Beer, since Old Holland Oils were used by the old Dutch masters. He foresaw that the modern medium of acrylics would be used by the new masters of art. Key Features:* Full range of 168 colors* Highest pigment load* High impasto capabilities* Dries to a satin gloss* Oldest paint maker in the world!* Professional Acrylic Sets* All-Inclusive Deluxe Wood Box Set Perfect For:* Professional Acrylic Painters* Transitioning to acrylics from oils* Impasto painting to glazing* Feel of oil paints in an acrylic After testing more than 250 pigments and different mediums for the paints, they were incorporated into a series, irrespective of cost. Instead of the resins most of the major acrylics manufacturers incorporated into their products, Old Holland chose a 100% pure acrylic medium from a European manufacturer as the paint vehicle. More expensive than traditional popular resins, it gives New Masters Acrylics the same characteristics and texture of Old Holland’s Classic Oils. Utilizing traditional pigments like Genuine Manganese Blue, etc. to more modern lightfast anthraquinonoids and more, Old Holland produced acrylics that they tested with professional artists in various countries. By the end of 2005, the range of 168 colors was introduced, and consisted of opaque and transparent lightfast colors that were free of additives and fillers. Drying to a satin gloss, they can be used for a wide range of techniques from thick impasto to ultra-thin glazing. With an extensive selection of metallics, pearlescent, iridescent, and interference colors that are extremely lightfast, the high doses of pigment in the patented binding system ensure each color displays the unique characteristics of the individual pigment. Based on over 175 years of experience, Charvin has created high-quality oil paint at an extremely reasonable price point. Charvin Extra Fine Professional Oil Paints use a combination of the finest in traditional and modern pigments, bound with a blend of linseed and non-yellowing poppy oils, for a smooth, creamy consistency and vibrant color. Charvin Maison de Haute Couleur ("House of High Color") has been meticulously creating fine artists' oil colors, serving artists like Cezanne, Bonnard, and Ambrogiani. Using only the highest-grade pigments that are triple-milled to the finest particle size, Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colors span a naturally progressing color range from the subtlest shades to brilliant hues. Only pure pigment is used for maximum lightfastness, buttery consistency and easy mixing on the canvas itself. All colors have a minimum lightfast rating 7 out of 8 on the blue wool scale. So they all can be considered perfectly lightfast. Iron oxides, earths and blacks are ground with linseed oil. All other pigments are ground with poppyseed oil which is well-known for its lack of yellowing and the non-forming of wrinkles at the time of the drying. As an oil colorist you deserve the very best colors to paint with. Blockx has been made in the same way in Belgium by family members for over 140 years. Today, Blockx is the oldest artist paint manufacturer continuously run and operated by a family. The story began when Jacques Blockx, a noted chemist, was asked by his artist friends to make reliable oil colors that would be permanent and extremely expressive. His formulas for permanent and lightfast colors are legendary and carefully guarded by the Blockx family today, who still test each batch of color to personally insure absolute quality and satisfaction. Indeed Blockx is a bit expensive, but these paints are worth every penny. An investment in Blockx is an investment in your art and truly one that will pay dividends in the future. Mixing: Pigments, oil, generally poppyseed oil, and specific ingredients are pre-mixed according to their particular nature to achieve the best paste for milling. Grounding: The paste is ground on a three roll mill made of stone rolls, to preserve the purity of paints, rotating at low speed to avoid heating. This operation is conducted 3 or 4 times-each time reducing the size of particles-allowing us to fill the tube immediately to preserve all the qualities of the paint. Test: Besides the long experience of the craftsman, numerous checks are made of particle size, consistency, drying time, density, and so more. A sample of each batch is carefully kept for years.
