Known for their use of high-quality pigments Horadam watercolor pans include 189 glorious colors and 152 of those have the highest possible lightfastness rating. Ninety-five of the colors are formed with a single pigment for perfect mixing effects. Each color has its own optimized recipe made of the finest pigments, ONETZ (ox gall), and traditional binders. Horadam watercolor pans allows artists to have a broad palette to choose from, whether they prefer traditional or modern colors. Schmincke uses only Kordofan Gum Arabic from the southern Sahara a natural resin binder. Horadam colors can be raised from a dried palette without developing globules. Colors that have dried on the palette can be awakened with a wet brush and reused an infinite number of times. Schmincke limits use of ONETZ (ox gall) as a dispersant. Colors flow smoothly and are inter-mixable. Cadmiums = A grade that has a high concentration of cadmium and is considered the highest quality. The C.P. designation has been associated with both “Chemically Pure” and "Concentrated Pigment". Which translation you come across will often depend on the source and context. In terms of “(CC)”, it refers to “Concentrated Cadmium” and was adopted by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) as a way to differentiate higher quality cadmiums from lesser quality cadmium-barium pigments. All Heavy Body colors are thixotropic in nature This means that when brushing or stirring, the paints actually lose viscosity and feel much thinner. The faster the paints are moving, the thinner they feel. Returned to a state of rest, the paints gradually increase in thickness until they are again restored to their formulated viscosity.
