Pouring Medium: Designed for extreme fluid effects and pouring techniques. Self-leveling and dries to a gloss finish. The best paint to use with this medium is Atelier Free Flow. Fast Medium/Fixer: Is designed to speed up the Interactive Acrylic painting process by quickly fixing a paint layer. You can use it to dilute the paint for glazing and thin painting techniques. Fast Medium/Fixer will speed up the layering process. Excellent for fast glazing and quick layering techniques. Slow Medium: Atelier Slow Medium slows down the drying time when added to Atelier Interactive Acrylic paint. You can thin the viscosity of your Interactive paint while also giving yourself more time to work. Ideal for larger paintings. It tacks up quickly, but it can easily be brought back to a more fluid stage by spraying it with water. Thick Slow Medium: has a gel-like consistency that is useful when artists want to have more blending time but do not want a thinner paint. You can use Thick Slow Medium for spreading and diluting paint without making it thin or runny. The concentrated medium is best used in small amounts. Just add to your palette when you want to maximize viscosity, and keep your Atelier Interactive Acrylic paints open for an extended period. Heavy Gel Gloss: A thick, water-based, glossy acrylic gel medium designed to create texture in acrylic painting. Heavy Gel Gloss creates a more translucent and buttery paint and increases gloss levels. It can also be used as an adhesive to bond other materials to the painting. *Note that the Heavy Gel Gloss uses conventional fast-drying technology, but it can take quite some time to dry when they are applied thickly. Clear Painting Medium: is one of the most popular mediums in acrylic painting. It is used with the paint to dilute the viscosity and blend colors without losing pigment intensity. This mid-viscosity medium allows the paint to spread over a surface for more blendable gradations of color. Retarder: slows down the drying process when added to acrylics and mediums. Retarder is particularly useful when painting wet-over-wet or wet-over-dry techniques. About 10% addition to any of the three mediums above can be useful for painting outdoors or in very dry conditions. See More

It allows an extended working or "open" time for blending. Opal Dust: Jo Sonja's Opal Dust is a clear gel that contains tiny light-reflecting holographic particles, which create an interplay of colors reminiscent of gems. Opal Dust may be used alone or applied to a dry pre-painted surface. It is suitable for various surfaces, including paper, card, glass, transparency film, plastic, canvas, wood, terra cotta, tin, fabric, silk, or dried flowers. You can use one of the colored Grounds to create surface texture or use the Transparent Watercolor Ground which allows the surface of your substrate, for example, wood grain or decorative paper, to show through when you paint over with watercolors. DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Ground creates a soft, absorbent watercolor surface with a slightly cottony texture that’s similar to cold press paper. With this breakthrough archival-quality ground, artists can create new work on any surface, rescue flawed paintings, lift and scrub without damaging the painting surface, and frame without glass. There’s really no end to what can be done! Key Features:* Absorbent watercolor ground* Works on multiple surfaces* Archival and acid-free.* Holds up to vigorous scrubbing Perfect For:* Watercolor Artists* Mixed media applications* Framing without Glass The beauty of watercolor is transparency and transparency is what gives watercolor paintings their distinctive clarity, luminosity, and realism. Now, with DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Ground, artists can get this unique visual quality on any surface they choose: * Wood & Plaster* Canvas & Masonite* All types of paper* Fabric* Glass & Plexiglass* Metal* Plastic* Stone & Masonry Preparation Absorbent or semi-absorbent surfaces require no special prep before brushing on DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Ground. These include paper, canvas and other fabrics, wood, plaster, shells, and hardboard. Non-absorbent surfaces such as metal, plastic or glass should be lightly abraded with sandpaper or steel wool before brushing on the Watercolor Ground. Application We recommend using Watercolor Ground straight from the container. It has a thick, brushable consistency. Use a soft-haired synthetic brush, foam brush or foam roller for a smoother finish, or a hog bristle brush for a more textured finish. The ground is highly pigmented so one coat will cover most surfaces; very absorbent surfaces such as unfinished softwood may require two coats, allowing the first coat to cure before adding the second. Wash brushes immediately after use. TIP – when using the Watercolor Ground to Rescue a Painting, thin some Watercolor Ground in a small dish with up to 10% of water and use a soft brush like a hake brush to blend the edges. Curing Let Watercolor Ground dry and cure for at least 24 hours. This allows it to attain the right degree of absorption. Painting DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Ground works beautifully with watercolors and thinned acrylics. Because it creates a surface more absorbent than paper, you will want to use less water with your paint. Experiment and see what works best for you. It also works beautifully with DANIEL SMITH Masking Fluid. Finishing As with all watercolors, your work on DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Ground will need to be fixed if it will not be framed behind glass. We suggest spraying with a high quality, Archival Aerosol MSA Varnish with UVLS to protect your painting. DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Grounds give artists more freedom to paint with their watercolors; on any surface, rescue a watercolor painting and add more creative opportunities for painting with watercolors!
