Claessens Linen #15 Double Oil Primed Medium Texture Roll, 54" x 3 ydSave Up to69%Off listWhite Claessens Oil Primed Medium Textured Linen Rolls Feature Meticulous Craftsmanship - Their Most Popular All-Purpose Surfaces! Claessens Linen Rolls provide artists with optimal professional quality in painting surfaces and craftsmanship. Each specific primed linen type passed through its own set of manufacturing steps and quality control, resulting in the premium painting surfaces Claessens is renowned for. After receiving the raw linens, quality control carefully inspects the entire surface for weaving faults. Abnormally thick threads are scrupulously removed. Next, two layers of synthetic adhesive are applied. Each layer is dried on the canvas in a warm-air oven. For oil primed canvases, zinc white is used as the first coat, bound with linseed oil; carefully applied to the glued linen with trowel-like knives. Then the canvas is sanded and a layer with a titanium white base is applied in the same fashion, then placed in a drying room for 3 days to air dry naturally. Double primed canvases undergo the same process again, as do additional primings. After the final coating is applied, the canvas is moved back to the drying room for 10 days. The finished canvases are then again carefully inspected one last time before they are place on rolls and stocked in the warehouse. There, the rolls are put into boxes or tubes for shipping. These stringent, painstaking steps create an archival, exceptional linen canvas worthy of your finest masterpiece! New York Central Unprimed Linen, J , 85" x 2.5yd Canvas BlanketSave Up to64%Off listBrown Museum Quality Unprimed Belgian Linen Canvas Blankets The excellent soil quality and moderate climate of the Belgian region is ideal for growing the linen flax plant. Local expertise, combined with centuries of flax spinning and weaving knowledge, guarantee the craftsmanship of New York Central® Unprimed Belgian Linen Blankets. Far more desirable than cotton, linen retains its natural oils, which preserves the material's inherent flexibility and strength. Additionally, this retention of natural oils gives linen the unique ability to resist mold and mildew, unlike cotton. Perfect For: * Professional painters of all types * Custom priming and stretching your own canvas * Creating a textured or smooth canvas * Portrait artists and detail painters * Archival art that will last! #42 Linen – 66.9" wide; 12.7 oz. - Slightly heavier than 12 oz cotton but not as bulky. It has a beautiful, tight weave that is perfect for detailed realistic techniques and more abstract applications. For portrait artists, three coats of priming sanded between layers would yield a very pleasing surface. #38 Linen – 66.9" wide; 14.1 oz. - This linen is about 10% heavier than the #42. It has a medium weave and texture and falls into our all-purpose range. You can use this linen for portraiture, but we generally do not recommend it for this purpose. This linen is ideal for all other realistic, representative, and modern expressions. #133 Linen – 82.67" wide; 15.17 oz. - This hearty linen has a robust weave and uniform surface. Perfect for expressive works and abstract pieces. #31 Linen – 90.55" wide; 17.99 oz. - The heaviest linen with a medium texture and weave. It is intended for large-sized works, but you can use it for any size piece. It weighs in at 17.99 oz. or 510 gms, which is heavier than any commercially produced pre-stretched linen canvas product on the market. #24 Jute – 74.8" wide; 24.51 oz. - Jute is a delightful departure from the smoothness associated with hemp and linens as it is delectably coarse, soft, and shiny with a beautiful golden color. The fiber lengths are incredibly long, so the strength of the jute is unrivaled. It has a large, coarse weave and is wonderful for glue-sizing, leaving the natural color of the canvas, or for traditional priming with oil or acrylic-based primers. #25 Hemp – 86.6" wide; 25.4 oz. - Hemp is for any artist looking for a heavyweight, durable fabric that is strong and soft. A robust, tight weave characterizes this fabric. The archival nature of hemp rivals that of the finest linen, but it is economical enough to use on the largest of paintings. See More
