It's ideal for creating transparent impasto effects and textured glazes. Mix it directly with acrylic paints or use it alone for transparent surface effects. It dries absolutely clear. Acrylic Matte Medium & Varnish - Excellent for mixed media applications, the acrylic gloss medium and varnish has myriad uses. Traditionally this medium is mixed with acrylic paint for smoother brush strokes and a uniform gloss finish, or as a final gloss varnish. This medium thins with water and can also be used for glazing, as an adhesive, in thick applications in molds or armatures for a flexible, plastic-like effect, and in papier mache projects. Watercolour: To create washes and patinas, dilute with between 1/3 and 2/3 water as desired. Varnish: Matt varnish can be applied on top to maintain the vibrancy of the colour without altering the shade. Gloss varnish will make shades a tone deeper and more vivid.
