The half-pans are housed in removable trays, each tray holding four colors. There are three trays. They can easily be snapped in and out of the case for cleaning or replacement of the colors. There are two (2) expanding mixing plates on this case, each measures 2" x 4 3/4", having either two or four 'holes' for mixing colors. Opposite the half-pans is a third area for mixing, measuring 2 1/4" x 5"; it has five wells.

Fully expanded, this case measures 11 1/2" x 5 1/2". Compacted, it measures only 4 1/2" (w) x 5 1/2" (l) x 1 1/2" (h), small enough for purses, back-packs or carry-on luggage.
