Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect portrait paper I have worked as an artist on Jackson Square in New Orleans for 25 years. This recycled paper is great for the environment, cheap and beautiful portrait paper. I use grey for black people and beige for white people. You automatically have a color portrait just using black pencil. This is a win-win --both for the environment and the artist. Great product Strathmore and thank you Jerrysartarama.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Kraft Paper Substitute I work on toned paper. This habit started in undergrad school with Kraft paper that had a great tan color, was cheap and allowed me do work in both tonal dorections - shadows and light. Since then I've used every toned paper,e.g., BFK Rives tan, e.g., mi-tientes, sand... etc..., and nothing gave me the tooth and tone of Kraft paper. Later on I found Canson Recycled (hardbound) sketch books...but the hard binding made them impractical for any use but sketching. So, these "Toned tan" wirebound books lie flat for easy use. They are micro perferated so their removal from the book is relatively clean and hassle free. Still, it's not the color of Kraft paper and it's not exactly cheap.... but so few things in life are perfect, and this comes pretty close.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderful texture I do graphite portraits....I was anxious to try the new toned paper pads for a little variety. I bought both grey and tan and am so pleased. Not too much texture, I like detail workdand need a rather smooth surface. Will really enjoy these!
