Rated 2 out of 5 by Art3mis from Lovely Colors but SO Powdery I bought these for school, excited about the price ~ They are fairly soft but they have EXCESSIVE amounts of powder that falls down. I had some trouble with it muddying up the page or other parts of my work, but if you're careful it's something that can be worked around.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Monet I'm Not from Good Stuff I've never used soft pastels before so this was a new experience for me. I enjoyed them but they seem to produce a lot of chalk dust. I don't know if that's normal for soft pastels BUT I have used Senneliar samples at the Jerry's store and they don't seem to produce as much dust as these do. They blend very well but the color isn't as bright when I finger blend them (perhaps its the fact I'm using my fingers?). In the interests of openness, I am in no way an artist, just a guy trying to get in touch with his creative side, so all of this is very new to me. Bottom line: they are a good value, they are fun to work with. I won't buy them again because of the dust issue and pastels don't seem to be for me.
