Why Pigma Ink? WHAT MAKES PIGMA INK SO SPECIAL?
In the early 1980s, scientists at Sakura developed Pigma® ink, a pigment-based ink with particles 100 times larger than the dye molecules used in regular pens. This unique formulation makes Pigma® ink less susceptible to damage from UV rays, chemical degradation, and water. One of the challenges faced by the researchers at Sakura was finding a practical way to use these larger pigment particles. They discovered a process to reduce the particles to submicron size, 1/25,000 of an inch, which allowed the ink to flow smoothly through even the narrowest pen nibs. This breakthrough led to the creation of Pigma® ink technology!
