Old Holland canvases are made exclusively from Claessens Linen, crafted from woven natural flax from Belgium. They grow, sort, and process the materials needed with the greatest care. These are truly natural products, with small differences in their color, composition, and non-mechanical surface feel, leading to a beautifully unique end product. Old Holland Claessens Oil Primed Belgian Linen Canvas features 100% Belgian linen prepared with two coats of oil primer and then stretched around robust 13/16" stretcher bars and back-stapled to the frame for optimum strength.

First the canvas is double sized and then carefully primed by knife with Zinc White bound in linseed oil. The canvas is then naturally air-dried for three days. It is then sanded with the utmost care and a final coating based on Titanium White is applied with knife and roller to achieve the typical surface expected from Claessens oil-primed canvas.
