There is a small black O-Ring between the spray cap and the can. Removing this O-Ring allows you to start painting. The O-Ring is a safety precaution to make sure the can won't spray with it on. To remove the O-Ring and start painting simply remove the spray cap and turn the can upside down. If the O-Ring does not fall off on its own you can use something small to pop it off. Make sure you check to see if the O-Ring is on the can before assuming that the spray can is defective and unable to spray.

Montana Tech Spray, Gloss Varnish - 400ml Can is an acrylic-based, acid-free, and quick-drying clear varnish. No yellowing or de-saturation. For interior and exterior use. Can be used for art, hobby, crafts, and DIY. Available in gloss, semi-gloss, and matte finish. The gloss level is shown on donut (see top of can). Protects and fixes paint on surfaces like canvas, paper, charcoal drawing, bast fiber, wood, photos, etc. Protects against oxidation.
