Rabbit skin glue has been used for centuries as a traditional organic sizing material to prepare the canvas for oil priming. However, conservation scientists caution painters that rabbit skin glue swells on damp days while shrinking on dry days, which may cause cracking. Despite this caution, rabbit skin glue is still widely used by traditional oil painters. Enkaustikos Rabbit Skin Glue is a dry granular powder that needs to be dissolved in warm water.
