White Fast Drying Oil Colors Made with pigments and oil modified alkyd resin Griffin Alkyd is an oil color formulated from the same family of fast-drying resins that has been used by Winsor & Newton in producing Liquin and other mediums since the 1960’s. Each color reaches a touch-dry state in less than 24 hours, making them ideal for fast working while still offering the working and optical properties of oils. Their unique luminosity makes them perfectly suited for glazing, particularly when used in combination with Liquin. Compatible with conventional oils, Griffin Alkyd Oils have excellent flow properties and dry to a durable, semi-gloss hard film that will not yellow over time. Made with an alkyd resin binder that has been modified with a non-yellowing drying oil for optimum color retention, excellent durability, and rapid drying time. 48 oil colors is available in 37ml tubes. Alkyd is not intermixible with acrylics. Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Drying Oil Color Alkyds are made from a naturally derived vegetable oil that is polymerized. The result is a resin-like product that, when mixed with a solvent, is very similar to traditional linseed oil. The colours remain workable for 4 to 8 hours and are touch dry in 18 to 24. Consistent drying times across the range removes the usual restrictions that come with conventional oils, making it easier to overpaint, regardless of the colour upon the surface. White Who Says Oil and Water Don't Mix! Designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint Just because oil and water don't mix in your kitchen doesn't mean there aren't other methods to make them happy in each other's company. A most effective route is through the addition of a chemical emulsifier that has an attraction on one side of the molecule for water and, on the other, for oil. The result? A happy match made, if not in heaven, at least in the laboratory. Mix with Water - Artisan provides all the characteristics expected from conventional oil color: High pigment strength, a high proportion of single pigments, and variable opacity. The key difference is their ability to be mixed with water even though they are made with traditional oil binders. Chemical analysis has indicated that any added water fully leaves the paint film within a short time; no water remains "trapped" to weaken or loosen the color on the canvas. Drying Time- The water evaporates out of the paint film fairly rapidly leaving behind a conventional oil color that dries by oxidation, as normal. Adhesion and drying time have been shown to be comparable to conventional oil color. Research has also shown that the dried Artisan film is similar to a conventional oil film in solvent resistance, yet remains slightly softer than conventional colors, offering increased flexibility, which is a very good thing. Your canvas can flex with changes in temperature and humidity; a paint film that will go along with it will better resist cracking or lifting.
