Key Features: * Accelerates drying time * Increases gloss & translucency of colors * For information click on yellow technote icon Perfect For: * Water mixable oil paint * Maintaining consistency * Preserving gloss     Fast Drying Medium - This is a very popular medium as it speeds the drying of oil color by about 50%, allowing further layers to be applied more quickly. Gloss Varnish - This water-based varnish contains no hazardous solvents. Protects finished paintings and provides a uniform glossiness. If dirty, the varnish can be removed with Artisan Varnish Remover. Impasto Medium - This water-mixable impasto and texturing medium helps maintain the consistency of the color and speeds drying by 50%. For thick impasto, build the texture in several layers, allowing each layer to dry first, mixing the Impasto thoroughly into the color before use. Linseed Oil - This water-mixable oil is the main binder in Artisan colors. When mixed with color, it reduces their consistency for better flow. Combine with water or Thinner to maintain the structure of the paint film. Matt Varnish - This water-based varnish contains no hazardous solvents. Provides protection for finished paintings and provides a uniform matte finish. If dirty, the varnish can be removed with Artisan Varnish Remover. Oil Painting Medium - This stand oil-based medium is ready to use from the bottle. The medium thins the consistency of Artisan colors and aids fine detail work. Safflower Oil - This oil should be used with pale pigments to help maintain their brightness. It also increases gloss and transparency. Satin Varnish - This water-based varnish contains no hazardous solvents. Provides protection for finished paintings and provides a uniform satin finish. If dirty, the varnish can be removed with Artisan Varnish Remover. Stand Oil - This highly durable linseed oil is partly polymerized by being heated in the absence of oxygen. This stand oil joins the molecules together, leaving less space for oxygen and hence a longer drying time. Thinner - Although water is suitable as a diluent for the color, its speedy evaporation can make the color thicken upon the palette much quicker than conventional oil color would when used with turpentine. Designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint Just because oil and water don't mix in your kitchen doesn't mean there aren't other methods to make them happy in each other's company. A most effective route is through the addition of a chemical emulsifier that has an attraction on one side of the molecule for water and, on the other, for oil. The result? A happy match made, if not in heaven, at least in the laboratory. Mix with Water - Artisan provides all the characteristics expected from conventional oil color: High pigment strength, a high proportion of single pigments, and variable opacity. The key difference is their ability to be mixed with water even though they are made with traditional oil binders. Chemical analysis has indicated that any added water fully leaves the paint film within a short time; no water remains "trapped" to weaken or loosen the color on the canvas. Drying Time- The water evaporates out of the paint film fairly rapidly leaving behind a conventional oil color that dries by oxidation, as normal. Adhesion and drying time have been shown to be comparable to conventional oil color. Research has also shown that the dried Artisan film is similar to a conventional oil film in solvent resistance, yet remains slightly softer than conventional colors, offering increased flexibility, which is a very good thing. Your canvas can flex with changes in temperature and humidity; a paint film that will go along with it will better resist cracking or lifting.
