Museum Series Hardbord is an ultra-smooth, non-absorbent uncoated panels. Prepare your own unique painting grounds and textures on Ampersand Museum Series Hardbord™, the ultra-stable, professional artist-grade hardboard support. The high-density fiber core is engineered for stability, eliminating the warping and bowing issues that can be noticed with other substrates. Moisture resistant and formaldehyde-free, Hardbord is the substrate used to manufacture all Ampersand Museum Series pre-coated panels. Panels also contain no harmful VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) that other hardboard panels and MDF boards at the hardware store contain. All wood panels should be sealed with some sort of sealant and primed before painting. Perfectly suited to all acrylic gesso and oil primers, most any media can be used, depending on the primer used.
