Artfix Polyester Canvas P72U Roll 85" x 11 Yards
Starting At: 598.49
White A Modern Archival Surface for Painters in Humid Areas! For over 50 years the Narozni family has crafted premium artists' canvases in Provence, France, still hand produced and primed. Today, they have passed this knowledge to Chassis France, the French specialist manufacturing canvas and frames for over 60 years. Still hand produced and primed, the close attention to detail is what makes ArtFix not a commodity, but a premium product for the educated and discerning artist who chooses the very finest canvases for painting. Much time and education is spent on learning why linen is superior to cotton canvas, but less is known as to why polyester is becoming popular as a painting surface. Polyester is a modern surface solution for the professional painter. Polyester stands apart from its linen and cotton counterparts as it isn’t affected by moisture, so it experiences far less temperature related expansion and contraction than cotton or linen endures. Its synthetic nature creates a stable and chemically compatible environment. The ability for polyester to be spun and create a super fine thread allows for ability to create flawless, extra fine surfaces that are popular with portrait and realist painters. Art conservators use polyester for relining old delicate canvases; they can be adhered to the stretched polyester without the fear of buckling, thus providing a moisture-proof barrier between stretchers and the wall that archival lasts forever. ArtFix polyester rolls are primed with anywhere from 2 to 6 coats of a specially formulated universal primer, 2 to 4 coats of oil primer, or pre-sized unprimed raw or raw tinted polyester (tinting gives it more the appearance of a natural linen color). Canvas Style Notes: "C" Styles - Lead-style Oil Primed: ArtFix’s specially formulated oil priming gives the traditional qualities of lead priming, without its toxicity. the unique absorbency allows oil paints to bite into the surface, increasing adhesion and depth of color. Colors glow from within when glazed on the surface. “C" Style rolls are highly recommended for all oils and alkyd paintings. "U" Styles - Universal Primed: ArtFix’s “U" style’s carefully formulated acrylic universal priming emulates many characteristics of oil-based primers, but maintains the durability and elasticity of acrylic priming. Unlike glossy acrylic primers, the surface is more matte and a bit more absorbent to promote exceptional adhesion to a variety of media. Excellent for works in oils, acrylics, and even drawing media (oil stick, pastels, charcoal, graphite), due to the absorbent surface. When mounted to a stiff surface, even brittle media like egg tempera and caseins work beautifully on the universal primed surface and smooth polyester texture. Unprimed: Pre-sized, ArtiFix unprimed rolls are ready to accept whatever form of custom priming you desire, from clear or colored gessos, oil priming, pastel primer, etc. Please see tech notes on each individual line item canvas for information on canvas type, weight, surface texture, media, priming information, and best uses for each canvas style to find what roll best suits your artistic techniques and needs. Key Features: * stable painting surface * not affected by moisture * extra-fine surface * offered Universal & Oil Primed Perfect For: * Oil and Acrylic Painters * Painters living in humid areas * art conservation * Students to Professionals See More -

You may want to start with watercolor and gouache, reworking or removing areas then finishing off with permanent acrylics. With Yes! You can! Yes! Perfect for portrait artists and realistic technique artists. A unique twist to this canvas is that you can draw with a permanent marker and use the lines to form a resist for your watercolors without feathering or smudging. Similar to the resists used for silk painting, you can paint on top of the drawing. For traditional watercolor painting, the color sits on the surface, allowing for easy lifting, scratching, and reworking the painted surface and even layering for unique effects using opaque or transparent colors. This surface is fantastic with virtually any acrylic-based paint, from heavy-body acrylics to acrylic-based inks to airbrush colors. Key Features: * 11oz weight, 100% unbleached cotton * Portrait smooth, fine weave surface * Triple-primed with acid-free special wet media primer * Perfect For: * Accepts all media! * Watercolors, Water-based inks, Airbrush colors * Acrylics, Markers, Acrylic inks * Oil, Shellac, and Alkyds The Portrait Cotton - Portrait artists and super realistic technique artists craved for a surface that was plate smooth but also affordable. Yes, is plate smooth using only the finest close weaved cotton and primed three times to a super smooth surface. So smooth you can easily draw on it. But here's the twist you can also paint on it with any media! The priming is the key. Imagine a canvas so versatile that it will accept any paint, ink or marker you have in your studio. Imagine the possibilities. The Watercolor Surface - Many watercolorists draw with permanent marker as they create their watercolors. With this surface you can draw right into your watercolor without feathering or smudging or you can paint on top of the drawing. A unique twist to this canvas is that you can draw with permanent marker and use the lines to form a resist for your watercolors. This is very similar to resists used for silk painting. It is quite amazing and interesting. For traditional watercolor painting the color sits right up on the surface and allows for easy lifting, scratching into the paint film, reworking the painted surface and even layering for unique effects. Use with opaque or transparent colors. This canvas works best with tube watercolor and provides rich, vibrant expressions. Acrylics and Watercolors - We don't know where art will lead you but you may want to start off playing with watercolors and gouache reworking or even removing areas then fine tuning and finally finishing off the top layers with permanent acrylics. Of course you don't need to use watercolors with your acrylics but you can if you want. You'll find this surface to be fantastic with virtually any acrylic based paint from heavy body to acrylic based inks to airbrush colors. Before applying watercolor, we suggest that you clean the canvas thoroughly with high-strength Isopropyl alcohol to remove any hand-oils from the canvas. Surface oils may have accumulated from manufacturing, packaging, or unwrapping the canvas. Cleaning the canvas should prevent the paint from beading up on the surface. See More

Artfix Belgian L64C Oil Primed Linen Roll, 85" x 5 ydsSave Up to63%Off listWhite Combine the exceptional archival nature of French Linen with the excellence of the ArtFix’s priming! For over 50 years the Narozni family has crafted premium artists' canvases in Provence, France, still hand produced and primed. Today, they have passed this knowledge to Chassis France, the French specialist manufacturing canvas and frames for over 60 years. The close attention to detail is what makes ArtFix a premium surface for the educated and discerning artist who chooses the very finest canvases for painting. In the world of flexible fabric painting substrates, linen has proven itself for generations as being the fiber that has long stood the test of time. Much stronger and more durable than cotton due to a longer natural thread fiber structure and strength without issues of shrinking and sagging, it can be woven in a thinner, tighter weave that weighs much less with much greater strength. Due to the nature of the fiber, the weave cannot be woven into a completely precise, machined-look texture like cotton, which creates a unique painting surface many artists covet. Long revered for their fine linens with their incredible surface priming, ArtFix combines time-honored European manufacturing methods of priming with modern chemistry. All linens (even unprimed) are double sized for protection against acids in oil paints, which allows uniform breathing of the linen under the painting to reduce paint film stress once the work is completed. Primed up to 4 layers (depending on the roll style), each layer is applied by hand and sanded. This effort of labor prevents peeling, flaking, and cracking of the primer, and makes for the most bond with fresh paint. This time-consuming process produces an unbelievable primed surface that painters become devotees to! Select from pre-sized raw, universal, and oil primed conservator’s grade linen rolls, and indulge in the ArtFix experience. Can’t decide? Try cut pieces of different styles to learn which is your favorite! "G" Styles - Absorbent Ground: ArtFix’s “G" style priming is a single layer of an absorbent grey ground primer. Absorbent ground linen can be used to work with oils and acrylics where wash and staining effects are desired, as they will absorb into the ground. This style primer also works well with liquid acrylics, oil pastels, and other media that has absorbent needs to create proper adhesion. Unprimed: Pre-sized, ArtFix unprimed rolls are ready to accept whatever form of custom priming you desire, from clear or colored gessoes, oil priming, pastel primer, etc. Please see tech notes on each individual line item canvas for information on canvas type, weight, surface texture, media, priming information, and best uses for each canvas style to find what roll best suits your artistic techniques and needs. Key Features: * Conservation grade French Linen * hand-primed by skilled artisans * Universal, Oil, Absorbent Ground Primers * Pre-Sized Raw Linen options Perfect For: * Oil and Acrylic Painters * Professional and discerning Artists * Conservation Specialists * Devotees to ArtFix’s Priming Formulas See More

Claessens Linen #70 Single Oil Primed Rough Texture Roll, 82" x 6 ydSave Up to67%Off listWhite Claessens Oil Primed Rough Linen Rolls Feature Meticulous Craftsmanship With Close Attention To Detail! Claessens Linen Rolls provide artists with optimal professional quality in painting surfaces and craftsmanship. Each specific primed linen type passed through its own set of manufacturing steps and quality control, resulting in premium painting surfaces Claessens is renowned for. After receiving the raw linens, quality control carefully inspects the entire surface for weaving faults. Abnormally thick threads are scrupulously removed. Next, two layers of synthetic adhesive are applied. Each layer is dried on the canvas in a warm-air oven. For oil primed canvases, zinc white is used as the first coat, bound with linseed oil; carefully applied to the glued linen with trowel-like knives. Then the canvas is sanded and a layer with a titanium white base is applied in the same fashion, then placed in a drying room for 3 days to air dry naturally. Double primed canvases undergo the same process again, as do additional primings. After the final coating is applied, the canvas is moved back to the drying room for 10 days. The finished canvases are then again carefully inspected one last time before they are place on rolls and stocked in the warehouse. There, the rolls are put into boxes or tubes for shipping. These stringent, painstaking steps create a archival, exceptional linen canvas worthy of your finest masterpiece! The color system allows for middle tone, dark, and highlight tone availability to aid in the creation of the most lifelike works of art. If you LOVE Prismacolor, You will LOVE Cezanne® - The same - if not better - performance for a better value! Over the years, the binders for the lead have been significantly improved. These pencils have the state of the art binders, which allow the color to release easily onto any paper, board, and even canvas! The lead is characterized as being soft with a large 3.3mm diameter lead that can hold a crisp, sharp point for pinpoint control if required. Pre-sharpened premium pencils allow for great blending, layering, and shading with each other. The soft, vibrant colored leads are easier to blend, shade, and layer. One of the most often overlooked qualities of a pencil is the wood used to encase the lead. However, this is as important as the lead itself. Many lower-cost colored pencils use soft or cheap wood. You can notice this when sharpening. Unfortunately, if you have purchased such a set, you know this already. Cezanne® colored pencils use top quality hardwood that is easy to sharpen. The lead is bonded to the casement, so it is unbelievably break-resistant during the sharpening process. Although this technology has been around for years, many of the cheap brands don't use it because it costs more money. Often, the barrel finish is widely overlooked. However, this, too, has been aided by superior matching techniques of resin color and colored lead. The ends of Cezanne® pencils are dipped twice. The first dip provides a good seal, and the second dip offers a very close depiction of the colored lead, making color selection easy. The final test of any colored pencil set is the assortment of colors. Too often, cheap pencils use cheap pigments, and for the most part, many companies don't work with real artists. Cezanne's color range has been created with a great amount of input from artists such as yourself and is high quality and non-toxic. You can use the selection for portraiture, landscapes, seascapes, and varied brilliant designs. Colorless Blender Box of 6 Mix and soften your colored pencil drawings with Cezanne's pigment-free blenders. The colorless wax allows you to blend and soften colors without altering or dulling colors for a more painterly effect. Non-photo Blue Box of 6: Non-photo blue pencils are perfect for initial sketches, especially for digital pieces. The pencils originated over 80 years ago when it was discovered that this particular blue is unphotographable. Modern scanners and cameras can detect non-photo blue, but with some simple photo editing, those marks are easily erased. See More
