Sennelier Egg Tempera - Ivory Black, 34ml TubeSave Up to35%Off listBlack A highly pigmented, professional tempera medium Sennelier Egg Tempera paint is a semi-opaque, water-soluble and permanent painting medium used for fine art painting and restoration (and can even be used as an underpainting for oil paints). Unlike oils, egg tempera does not age or yellow, due to being egg emulsion-based instead of oil based. Varnished egg tempera paintings are difficult to distinguish from oils due to their vibrancy and brilliance in how the pigment suspends in the emulsion. It is a popular medium with oil painters who seek a health alternative to the harsh and dangerous solvents involved with oil colors, as it requires nothing more than soap and water cleanup. Like their other paint lines, Sennelier Egg Tempera paints are professional quality pigments with the highest pigment loads possible. Key Features:* Classical painting medium* Water soluble, no need for solvents* Highly archival* Rich satin-matte finish* Highly pigmented paints* Authentic egg tempera made in the traditional manner* Use varnish over egg tempera paintings for an oil painting like appearance Perfect For:* Fine art painting, restoration, and icon painting* Underpainting for oil painters* Restoration Work * Icon Painting* Technical illustrative painting styles Intro Set of 5- Contains five 21 ml tubes including: Titanium White, Lemon Yellow, Rose Madder Lake, Ultramarine Blue, and Ivory Black Light Wooden Box Set Of 15 - Contains: One 34 ml tube of Titanium White, one 60 ml jar of Egg Tempera Binding Medium, a wooden palette, one metal palette cup, two brushes, a Flat #4 and a Round #5, 15, 21 ml tubes of Egg Tempera: Burnt Sienna, Cadmium Yellow Deep Genuine, Carmine, Cobalt Violet Hue, Emerald Green, Ivory Black, Lemon Yellow, Naples Yellow, Permanent Intense Red, Prussian Blue, Raw Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Vermilion, Viridian, and Yellow Ochre. Capable of creating detailed and complex effects, the medium of egg tempera can be traced back as early as ancient Greece. During the early Italian Renaissance, egg tempera reached its’ zenith, and was the predominant medium for religious icon panel paintings done between the 12th and 15th centuries. Even with the rise in popularity of oils beginning in the 15th century, Renaissance masters such as Michelangelo and Botticelli continued to prefer the deep luminosity of the medium. Even with the decline of the medium in favor to oils, artists like Marc Chagall (who exclusively used Sennelier) in the early 1900’s led to the medium’s revival, and it became more popular with the use by American painters such as Andrew Wyeth and Thomas Hart Benton. In 1892, chemist and fine arts purveyor Gustave Sennelier created his own line of Sennelier Egg Tempera paints, after extensive research into classical, authentic Renaissance formulas. Egg Tempera is a semi-opaque, water-soluble and permanent painting medium used for fine art painting and restoration (and can even be used as an underpainting for oil paints). Unlike oils, egg tempera does not age or yellow, due to being egg emulsion-based instead of oil based. The egg emulsion recipe binder produces a satin-matte finish that is water resistant when dry, and is thinned with water or egg tempera medium when painting. Unlike oil paint, egg emulsion binder is stiffer and more brittle, so it does not lend well to impasto painting techniques. Traditionally, due to the brittle nature, egg tempera is best used on wood or canvas panels, or heavy primed paper that has been mounted on a hard surface. Note: Sennelier recommends artists give their finished egg tempera works a coating of charcoal or pastel fixative before applying a final oil paint picture varnish, to seal and protect the work. Mount Vision Soft Pastels Set of 25 - Flesh TonesSave Up to38%Off listPortrait Colors Beautiful, hand-made soft pastels! Mount Vision Handmade Soft Pastels consist of the highest quality pigments with the addition of chalk, talc, or clay and binders. Various combinations, depending on pigment, create different handling properties. The Mount Vision Pastel Company was founded in 2000, by artist Karl Kelly (a former paint maker for a small oil paint company). Handmade in small batches in Mount Vision, New York, the pastels possess a wonderfully soft and buttery feel. The pigment easily releases to the pastel surface with little resistance, allowing layers to build without becoming slick. Mount Vision Handmade Soft Pastels are consistently tested to achieve the best feel and color intensity for each pastel color. Mount Vision utilizes both traditional and synthetic pigments, which make great substitutes for traditional painting pigments that are health hazards to use in pastels (such as cadmiums, cobalts, etc.) Mount Vision's manufacturing process is simple and straightforward, creating a truly handmade product with great love and care by dedicated craftsmen. First, the pigments and chalks(or other binder) are weighed out on a scale, and then placed in an industrial sized mixing bowl. The mixture is fully mixed to the consistency of cookie dough, and then put through a sausage stuffer, where it is extruded onto wood boards. The boards are placed outside to dry the long pastel lines a little, to firm them slightly before handling. Once ready, the pastel lines are cut to size and then carefully rolled by hand to create a more uniform shape. The finished pastels are then placed on a drying rack to cure before hand labeling. Key Features:* Created from the finest traditional and synthetic pigments* Handmade by craftsmen in small batches in the U.S.* Pastels possess a soft, “buttery” feel in use* No hazardous pigments used Perfect For:* Serious Pastel Artists* Artists supporting U.S. Made manufacturers* Pastelists desiring softer pastels* Handmade pastel aficionados The beauty of Mount Vision’s color selection and color values is by other manufacturers that make a handmade product. Drawing on his extensive painting and printmaking background, Karl Kelly carefully designed the color palettes and selections to create every color imaginable a pastelist could imagine, from the palest color values to the most vibrant brights and darkest darks. Sold in both open stock individually and as sets. Health and Safety Statement from Mount Vision Pastel Company: If you have any Health and Safety questions please do not hesitate to Call 888 413-2009. Your health is our biggest concern. At Mount Vision Pastels we use no heavy metal pigments such as Cobalt or Cadmium. Because of the nature of pastels, i.e.. drawing directly with the pigment with very little binder, I question the use of these pigments. With the advances in the manufacture of synthetic pigments I feel that there are alternatives available for use that will serve the artist as well without the possible side effects. That said probably the biggest concern for pastelists is the pigment dust created by them. Whenever possible it is better to clean dust with a wet rag, sponge, or paper towel than to sweep it up (which causes more dust). Care should be taken if using a vacuum as often the pigment is finer than the bag and can blow through causing quite a dust storm. See More

Sennelier Oil Pastels Cardboard Box Set Seascape (Set of 6)Save Up to45%Off listAssorted Colors The world's finest oil pastels, made with high-quality pigments The world's finest oil pastels were originally created in 1949 by Henri Sennelier for Pablo Picasso. Picasso, a frequent patron of Henri's art supply shop across from the Louvre, was looking for a vibrant colored pastel he could use to paint on anything, giving examples of wood, metals, paper, canvas, etc. Picasso enjoyed the immediacy of children's crayons and soft pastels but wanted to be able to use their freer, gestural qualities on all surfaces and wanted them to be professional quality and lightfast. Sennelier's first oil pastels have since been the hallmark and long-time standard of the medium. Creamy, lightfast, and vibrant, Sennelier Oil Pastels use the same high-quality pigments and high pigment loads as their other lines, combined with a pure, synthetic binding medium and mineral wax. As the binding medium does not oxidize, it will not jeopardize the artwork's film stability or surface. They are acid-free, so there is no need to prime any surface as a preventative barrier for protection against deterioration from acid. The neutral pH mineral wax provides a remarkably creamy texture that will never harden or yellow, thus providing excellent adhesion to any support without ever fearing cracking. They may be thinned with spike lavender oil, turpentine, or mineral spirits to make washes or soften drawing strokes or blended with the Transparent Blending Medium stick for a wide array of effects. They are the ideal medium for artists on the go, as sets can be taken on airplanes without any restrictions since they contain no solvents or liquids like tubed paints. The traditional and La Grande sticks come in over 120 vibrant colors, including iridescent, metallic, and fluorescent colors. Sennelier's sets offer assorted colors dedicated to drawing landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, both in sturdy Cardboard and Wood Boxes, perfect for gift-giving or extensive travel. Sennelier Oil Pastels are available in both Standard (2 9/16" long x 3/8" diameter) and La Grande (5" long x 3/4" diameter) sizes. Sets can easily be replenished with individual pastels as you finish a stick! Key Features: * Cardboard box & Wood box sets * Compatible with all media * Can be applied to most surfaces such as paper, canvas, wood, or metal * Great for mixed media works * Highly pigmented, outstanding opacity and lightfastness * Draw on virtually any surface! * Unlike oil paint, substrates do not require priming * Soft, creamy application of color * Available in open stock of 120 vibrant colors (including iridescent, metallic, and fluorescent colors) Perfect For: * Sketching in color * Mixed Media Artists * Professional Artists * Plein Air - no need to lug brushes, solvents, palette, etc.! * Beautiful wood box sets make perfect gifts!
