Winsor & Newton solvents are made specifically for artists’ use and are fully volatile, meaning they leave no residual matter once evaporated. Key Features: * Artists' Picture Cleaner * English Distilled Turpentine * Sansodor * White Spirit Perfect For: * Cleaning palettes and brushes * Removing dried paint * Removing varnish Picture Cleaner - A natural resin/oil emulsion containing ammonia, designed for cleaning varnished paintings. Dissolves linseed oil oxidation and removes surface dirt. English Distilled Turpentine - Can be used to create your own painting mediums. Distilled Turpentine is derived from pine trees and is the most traditional solvent. You can use it to clean brushes. Sansodor - For creating your own painting mediums. Sansodor™ performs like turpentine, but its low odor makes it the least hazardous solvent. Leading art schools recommend it, and it is often the only solvent permitted in their studios. Also good for diluting paint and cleaning brushes. It evaporates slowly and increases blending time. White Spirit - Can be used to create your own painting mediums. Artists’ White Spirit is a petroleum distillate. It makes a leaner mixture with the colour and evaporates quickly. It can be used to clean brushes. Michael Harding, V1 Dammar Varnish Medium, 250ml JarSave Up to25%Off list…* Oil, resin, balsam, and wax blends * Varnish, glazing & painting mediums * Mediums for Professional Oil Painters Perfect For: * Professional Oil Painters * discerning amateurs & instructors * Artists favoring Old Masters materials * use with Michael Harding Artists’ Oils Handmade Oil Colour Mediums, Carefully Crafted From The Highest-Grade Natural Materials! Rather than using toxic and unpredictable lead drying agents, Michael Harding has prepared a selection of oil, resin, balsam, and wax painting medium creations that will safely yet traditionally alter your paint film to suit your painting needs! In place of traditional sun-thickened linseed oil, Harding’s oil mediums formula utilizes the best grade viscous linseed stand oil, given its ability to self level, imparts elasticity into the paint film, and does not yellow or darken appreciably over time. Otherwise, the raw materials used are consistent with those of the past. Mediums and varnishes are available in 100ml and 250ml jars. See description tab for information on each individual medium. Dammar Glaze Medium - A traditional glaze medium (with cobalt siccative) that helps add depth and gloss to transparent colors. Known for its speedy drying time of oil colors; use with slower drying colors. Oil Painting Medium - A basic oil medium designed to ease flow and increase gloss, transparency, depth, and bedaub of the pigment color. This medium is a linseed stand oil and turpentine formulation that prevents yellowing of paint film. Resin-Oil-Wax Medium - A soft painting paste, derived from pure bleached beeswax, mixed with dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This popular medium creates a lovely satin sheen and gentle impasto in paint layers. Settling of the medium may occur - allow jar to stand in hot water and stir contents until dissolved. Oleo-Resin Medium - A historic glazing medium based on light colored Canadian balsam fused with dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This versatile medium provides high gloss levels while imparting depth to paint films. Beeswax Paste - A high oil content paste based on linseed stand oil and pure bleached beeswax. The paste increases the body of oil colors with a satin-matte finish; especially useful with opaque colors. Balsam Resin Glaze - Another historical glazing medium, it is based on Austrian Larch Turpentine (Venice Turpentine) with Dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This wonderful smelling medium is added to oil colors to enhance depth, gloss, and luster. Matte Varnish - Creates a long lasting, protective coating with a beautiful matte finish. Made from real beeswax dissolved in the finest Portuguese Turpentine. Heat the container before using (until the contents turn clear) and then apply one thin coat - dries within minutes. Apply this varnish as a final picture varnish to thoroughly dried oil paint (6 months minimum- up to 18 months if paint is very thick). Dammar Varnish - Versatile varnish that creates a subtle gloss finish. Made from the best quality dammar resin from Thailand, dissolved in double rectified Portuguese maritime Turpentine, then carefully filtered. Apply as a final picture varnish to thoroughly dried oil paint (6 months minimum- up to 18 months if paint is very thick). Centurion Deluxe Oil Primed 20"x24" Linen Canvas .67" Deep (Box of 6)Save Up to64%Off listWhite Master Quality Archival Deluxe Stretched Canvas! Superb Performance And Color Retention! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! As an oil painter, it is important to work on oil primed surfaces. First, oil on oil will provide the best chemical bond for the paint layers that go on, afterwards. Secondly, gesso are acrylic based, and either repel oil if they have too high of a resin base, or absorb the oil too much if it is too matte, making color sink and look dull and lifeless. Oil priming allows the color to sit cleanly and brightly on the surface, with refraction of the white from below. Centurion’s affordable (OP DLX) oil primed canvas is a great way to start painting with not only an oil primer, but the luxurious texture and archival tradition of linen! Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming! Centurion Deluxe Oil Primed 20"x24" Linen Panel, 3 PackSave Up to84%Off listWhite Master Quality Archival Deluxe Linen Panels! Superb performance and color retention! Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming As an oil colorist it is important to work on oil primed surfaces and not universal primed surfaces. The reason is that universal primed surfaces are semi-absorbent. Gesso is absorbent even if it is plate smooth. The paint does not get absorbed as much and sits on the surface more making it easy to blend and manipulate. Granted it is not highly absorbent but the fact remains that some oil will get into the primer and flatten the image. You can get around this by using an under-painting oil ground on top of the surface of a universal ground canvas but this is very time consuming and expensive. Unlike universal ground, our oil priming chemically bonds with the oil paint and is non-absorbent allowing the paint to sit up on the surface with the correct refraction quality of the oil binder. If you use any high-quality oil color we urge you to use an oil primed surface and now we make it affordable! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! Centurion Deluxe Professional Oil Primed Linen Panels, specifically designed for oil painters. Superb receptive surface accepts even the thinnest oil color lay down without fragmenting on the surface and is a permanent surface as colors adhere better on it than any other oil primed canvas on the market today!
