Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Color - Zinc (Mixing) White, 37ml TubeSave Up to40%Off listWhite Who Says Oil and Water Don't Mix! Designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint Just because oil and water don't mix in your kitchen doesn't mean there aren't other methods to make them happy in each other's company. A most effective route is through the addition of a chemical emulsifier that has an attraction on one side of the molecule for water and, on the other, for oil. The result? A happy match made, if not in heaven, at least in the laboratory. Mix with Water - Artisan provides all the characteristics expected from conventional oil color: High pigment strength, a high proportion of single pigments, and variable opacity. The key difference is their ability to be mixed with water even though they are made with traditional oil binders. Chemical analysis has indicated that any added water fully leaves the paint film within a short time; no water remains "trapped" to weaken or loosen the color on the canvas. Drying Time- The water evaporates out of the paint film fairly rapidly leaving behind a conventional oil color that dries by oxidation, as normal. Adhesion and drying time have been shown to be comparable to conventional oil color. Research has also shown that the dried Artisan film is similar to a conventional oil film in solvent resistance, yet remains slightly softer than conventional colors, offering increased flexibility, which is a very good thing. Your canvas can flex with changes in temperature and humidity; a paint film that will go along with it will better resist cracking or lifting. Key Features: * 40 vibrant tones * Designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint * Thick, buttery consistency * All colors are touch dry in 2-12 days * Clean up is easy with just soap and water! * High pigment strength and variable opacity * Mix with water and avoid hazardous solvents * Made from modified linseed and safflower oils * Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colors - These magnificent paints are designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint, but they're a bit special. You can use them without hazardous solvents - they're happy being thinned down and cleaned up with water. They're especially good for artists who share a workspace or don't want solvents in school or at home. Oil Painting Primer can be applied directly to metal or porous surfaces (glue-sized canvas, untreated wood, hardwood, plywood, paper) with virtually no sinking in. A small amount of oil colour can be mixed into the Oil Painting Primer for tinted priming. The treated ground then accepts oil colours easily and without chalkiness or absorbency.Key Features:* Size: 500ml & 1000ml cans* Ready-to-use primer * Non-yellowing oil-modified alkyd resin medium* Can be applied directly to metal or porous surfaces (glue-sized canvas, untreated wood, hardwood, plywood, paper)* Used to prepare a surface before painting* A small amount of oil colour can be mixed into the Oil Painting Primer for tinted priming Oil painting primer imparts a traditional oil base. Some artists prefer this and may find a slight increase in gloss and smoothness. Oil primed canvases may slacken off less than acrylic primed canvases. A coat of warm glue size is required first. As a result of their formulation, Winsor & Newton acrylic primers are also suitable for oil painting. They are popular because they dry quickly and do not require any sizing underneath. See More
