The lead is characterized as being soft with a large 3.3mm diameter lead that can hold a crisp sharp point for pinpoint control if required. Pre-sharpened premium pencils allow for great blending, layering and shading with each other. The soft, vibrant colors are easily painted with a brush to create seamless watercolor effects. One of the most often overlooked qualities of a pencil is the wood used to encase the lead. However, this is as important as the lead itself. Many lower cost colored pencils use soft or cheap woods.
