Based on over 175 years of experience, Charvin has created high-quality oil paint at an extremely reasonable price point. Charvin Extra Fine Professional Oil Paints use a combination of the finest in traditional and modern pigments, bound with a blend of linseed and non-yellowing poppy oils, for a smooth, creamy consistency and vibrant color. Charvin Maison de Haute Couleur ("House of High Color") has been meticulously creating fine artists' oil colors, serving artists like Cezanne, Bonnard, and Ambrogiani. Using only the highest-grade pigments that are triple-milled to the finest particle size, Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colors span a naturally progressing color range from the subtlest shades to brilliant hues. The main binding ingredient in Charvin Extra Fine oils is poppy oil, which dries slower than linseed oil (but without its tendency to yellow over time), and provides a rich creaminess to the paint. Permanent and light-fast, Charvin Extra Fine Oils are designed to accurately reflect the hues of nature, making them ideal for Plein air painting. The smooth and creamy texture lends itself perfectly to Alla prima painting, yet the high pigment concentration also allows the paint to be thinned down to the most subtle and luminous glazes (as with any Poppy Oil-based paint, remember to follow the fat over-lean method of painting). Largest color range in the world! The Charvin Extra Fine palette is available in 20ml, 60ml, or 150ml tubes. From the palettes of the masters to your own paint box: bring the experience of centuries and the brilliance of the Riviera to your own paintings with Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colors! Key Features:* Highest grade pigments* Triple-milled for smoothness* Poppy and Linseed oil binder to prevent yellowing* Rich creamy texture* Wide range of colors: 20ml, 60ml or 150ml tubes* Luxury Professional Oils* Permanent and light-fast* Small Batch, Handmade Paints* Largest color range in the world* Perfect For:* Professional Oil Paints* Plein Air Artists* Alla Prima Painting* Vibrant Portraits* Pochade box tubes (20ml)* Vast color range* Accurately reflecting the hues of nature Artist Testimonial "As a professional, full-time artist for 19 years, I can say I have experimented with just about every type of oil paint that is out there. And believe me, they are not created equal! After using only Charvin oil paints for my most recent painting, I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The richness of the colors combined with the density yet fluidity of these oils was superb. I most certainly will continue to paint with Charvin!" Claessens Linen Rolls provide artists with optimal professional quality in painting surfaces and craftsmanship. Each specific primed linen type passed through its own set of manufacturing steps and quality control, resulting in the premium painting surfaces Claessens is renowned for. After receiving the raw linens, quality control carefully inspects the entire surface for weaving faults. Abnormally thick threads are scrupulously removed. Next, two layers of synthetic adhesive are applied. Each layer is dried on the canvas in a warm-air oven. For oil primed canvases, zinc white is used as the first coat, bound with linseed oil; carefully applied to the glued linen with trowel-like knives. Then the canvas is sanded and a layer with a titanium white base is applied in the same fashion, then placed in a drying room for 3 days to air dry naturally. Double primed canvases undergo the same process again, as do additional primings. After the final coating is applied, the canvas is moved back to the drying room for 10 days. The finished canvases are then again carefully inspected one last time before they are place on rolls and stocked in the warehouse. There, the rolls are put into boxes or tubes for shipping.
