Centurion Deluxe Oil Primed 48"x72" Linen Canvas .87" Deep (Box of 3)Save Up to73%Off listWhite Master Quality Archival Deluxe Stretched Canvas! Superb Performance And Color Retention! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! As an oil painter, it is important to work on oil primed surfaces. First, oil on oil will provide the best chemical bond for the paint layers that go on, afterwards. Secondly, gesso are acrylic based, and either repel oil if they have too high of a resin base, or absorb the oil too much if it is too matte, making color sink and look dull and lifeless. Oil priming allows the color to sit cleanly and brightly on the surface, with refraction of the white from below. Centurion’s affordable (OP DLX) oil primed canvas is a great way to start painting with not only an oil primer, but the luxurious texture and archival tradition of linen! Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming! Centurion Deluxe Oil Primed 3"x5" Linen Panel, 12 PackSave Up to84%Off listWhite Master Quality Archival Deluxe Linen Panels! Superb performance and color retention! Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming As an oil colorist, it is important to work on oil-primed surfaces and not universally primed surfaces. The reason is that universal primed surfaces are semi-absorbent. Gesso is absorbent even if it is plate smooth. The paint does not get absorbed as much and sits on the surface more making it easy to blend and manipulate. Granted, it is not highly absorbent, but the fact remains that some oil will get into the primer and flatten the image. You can get around this by using an under-painting oil ground on top of the surface of a universal ground canvas, but this is very time-consuming and expensive. Our primer does not contain zinc or lead. The main ingredients used in the coating of these panels are acrylic emulsion, titanium pigment, calcium carbonate, and alkyd resin. Unlike universal ground, our oil priming chemically bonds with the oil paint and is non-absorbent allowing the paint to sit up on the surface with the correct refraction quality of the oil binder. If you use any high-quality oil color, we urge you to use an oil-primed surface, and now we make it affordable! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming!
