Gamblin Burnt Plate Oil #000 8oz BottleSave Up to40%Off listBrown True to historic working properties. Safer. More Permanent. Gamblin Oil Painting mediums offer a great deal more than simply extending oil colors. Mediums modify the working properties of oil color from the tube – from a fluid consistency for expressive mark making to a stiff paste for creating thick, crisp marks. Painting mediums also broaden the visual qualities of our colors – from increasing the transparency of paint layers, to creating a range of surface qualities, from high gloss to matte. Gamblin’s family of Galkyd painting mediums and Cold Wax Medium are formulated with Gamsol. We recommend only Gamsol for thinning these materials. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil - Processed from flax seeds. This linseed is the purest and lightest industrially produced variety. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil - Made from the first pressing of flax seeds without heat or chemicals of any kind. Cold Wax Medium - Made from natural white unbleached beeswax. Mix directly into colors. Cold Wax creates an ultra-thick, matte impasto. For greater shine and flexibility mix with Galkyd medium. "G-Gel" - Made from alkyd resin, Galkyd Gel is a colorless oil color additive that accelerates the drying rate of oil colors and enables artists to create thick transparent paintings with a moderate sheen. Galkyd Painting Medium - Alkyd based resin painting medium that thins oil paints and maintains a strong flexible paint film. Galkyd speeds the drying rate and is excellent for glazing providing an enamel like finish. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Painting Medium Lite No.2 - This low viscosity alkyd resin painting medium is a good replacement for traditional damar/ linseed oil/ turpentine combination mediums. Galkyd Lite dries within about 3 hours to a subdued gloss, and will maintain your brush strokes. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Slow Drying Medium - Especially formulated to thin oil colors and give painters extended working time. To use mix equal portions of medium with oil colors to paint wet for at least a day. Since this product should not be diluted you may want to purchase the larger size. Gamsol - Quality solvent and medium and for general oil painting. Gamsol is also an excellent studio and brush cleaner. Odorless Mineral Spirits -Gamsol is the safest solvent that allows oil painters to utilize all traditional painting techniques without compromise. Primary Uses for Gamsol - Thinning oil colors, Modifying painting mediums, Studio clean up.Gamsol is a petroleum distillate but all the aromatic solvents have been refined out of it, less than .005% remains. Gamvar - Conservation quality varnish for oil, acrylic and alkyd paintings. This resin varnish may be removed with a mild solvent and contains a UV stabilizer. Developed in association with the National Gallery of Art. Package makes enough varnish to cover 80 sq ft. Once varnish is applied surface will have a uniform gloss apperance. Neo-Megilp - When mixed into oil colors Neo-Megilp makes them richer and deeper and finished paintings have a luminous glow! Neo-Megilp will not darken or crack over time. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Oil Painting Ground - For strong, bright foundations of oil paintings. Requires only 2 coats. Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide and barium sulfate. Stiffer than traditional gesso. PVA Size - Use as a barrier size between linen or cotton canvas instead of rabbit skin glue. Remains flexible and won't yellow, shrink or swell. Poppy Oil - Poppy Oil's slow drying time may be useful for painters using "wet into wet" techniques. Adding 10% by volume poppy oil slows down the drying time of Gamblin Galkyd Painting Mediums. Rabbit Skin Glue - Gamblin's Rabbit Skin Glue is the traditional size for fabric support on panels. It seals porous fabric and isolates it from ground or oil paints. Stretching the canvas is easy, because the size shrinks as it dries. Safflower Oil- Gamblin's Safflower Oil is a pale, slow-drying oil. Safflower oil increases flow of oil colors and slows dry time. Use sparingly or mix with an equal amount of Gamsol to create a traditional slow-drying, low-viscosity painting medium. Solvent-Free Gel Medium - This unique, non-toxic blend of safflower oil and alkyd resin gives colors more flow and transparency, yet holds brushstrokes well. It has a moderately fast drying rate, increases gloss, and supports the broadest range of painting techniques with the least compromise across color, dry time, texture and mark-making. Contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Solvent-Free Fluid Medium- Gamblin's Solvent-Free Fluid Mediumgives oil colors more flow and transparency, It has a moderately fast drying rate that increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, this medium is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Stand Oil - Vacuum bodied heavy oil which can be used in painting and glazing mediums. Dries to an enamel like finish. Traditional Gesso - Gamblin's Traditional Gesso is a dry mixture of rabbit skin glue, gypsum, marble dust, and titanium dioxide. Paintings on gesso are more matte because of the high absorbency of traditional gesso. Wax Pastilles - Small beads of naturally white unbleached beeswax.* See More

Golden Heavy Body Acrylic - Benzimidazolone Burnt Orange, 8 oz TubeSave Up to30%Off listOrange Golden Heavy Body Acrylic Paints- Professionally Loved Acrylics! The original line of paints! GOLDEN Heavy Body acrylic paints are known to be exceptionally smooth with a thick, buttery consistency and contain the largest assortment of unique pure pigments in a 100% acrylic emulsion vehicle available to the professional artist. These colors offer excellent permanency and lightfastness. There are no fillers, extenders, opacifiers, toners, or dyes added. Each Heavy Body acrylic color is formulated differently depending on the nature of the pigment. Colors that tolerate higher pigment "loads" dry to a more opaque, matte finish. Colors that are more reactive and do not accept high pigment loading, dry to a glossy finish and tend to be more transparent. Heavy Body colors contain no additives, such as matting agents, therefore the gloss of each color will be different. Key Features:* Exceptionally smooth, rich, buttery consistency* Dries quickly, permanent and archival in quality* Ability to "stand up" and retain brush strokes* All HB colors are thixotropic in nature* Retain excellent flexibility when dry, diminishing the possibility of cracking* Heavy Body viscosity can also be reduced successfully with water* No flattening agents* No opacifiers added to colors* Clearest and cleanest quality* 101 different colors, shades and tints* 30 colors are mixture colors, the rest of produced from single, unique pigments* Concentrated/Chemically Pure Cadmiums Perfect For:* Approved for professional artist* 100% acrylic binder* Freeze-thaw stability* "stand up" and retain brush strokes or palette knife marks on the canvas* Largest assortment of unique pure pigments* There are no fillers, extenders, opacifiers, toners, or dyes added* Can be mixed with all of our GOLDEN Mediums, Gels and other paint lines C.P. Cadmiums = A grade that has a high concentration of cadmium and is considered the highest quality. The C.P. designation has been associated with both “Chemically Pure” and "Concentrated Pigment". Which translation you come across will often depend on the source and context. In terms of “(CC)”, it refers to “Concentrated Cadmium” and was adopted by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) as a way to differentiate higher quality cadmiums from lesser quality cadmium-barium pigments. All Heavy Body colors are thixotropic in nature This means that when brushing or stirring, the paints actually lose viscosity and feel much thinner. The faster the paints are moving, the thinner they feel. Returned to a state of rest, the paints gradually increase in thickness until they are again restored to their formulated viscosity. The Heavy Body line of acrylics contains no additional flattening agents, opacifiers or other solids that might interfere with the clarity of our pigments Please note: The items on this page are available at the Best Lowest Price Possible and no further discounts can be applied. GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics Iridescent Gold Deep (Fine) 8 ozSave Up to30%Off listIridescent GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics provide a highly intense, permanent acrylic with a consistency similar to india ink. Equal the intensity of GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics but with an even, flowing characteristic useful for dry brush application, fine details, pouring, spraying (particularly when mixed with GOLDEN Airbrush Medium), staining techniques and many others. Fluids are created by loading an acrylic polymer binder with concentrated levels of quality pigments for a wide selection of permanent and lightfast colors. No fillers or extenders are added to achieve the desired consistency, nor is the fluid quality achieved with additional water. GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics have the same pigment load as the Heavy Body Acrylics, but in a viscosity similar to heavy cream. Fluids allow for smooth flowing applications while retaining color intensity, tinting strength, film integrity, and adhesion. Fluids blend easily with all acrylic colors, and readily tint gels, mediums, gessoes and grounds. The result offers fine dispersion, high tinting strength, durability, flexibility, and good adhesion. * Golden Fluid Acrylics Interference Colors which reflect their own colors in intense direct light and transmit a complement in indirect light. This "flip" varies according to the surface and the surface color. Adding a small amount of black will produce brighter colors. * Golden Fluid Acrylics Iridescent Colors reflect their own light. They appear differently dependent on the light source being either direct or indirect. Mix these colors into other GOLDEN colors to produce the greatest array of pearlescent colors imaginable. GOLDEN Open Acrylic Paints Pyrrole Red 8 ozSave Up to30%Off listRed Slow-drying acrylic paint that enables painters to explore techniques GOLDEN OPEN paint is a slow-drying acrylic paint that enables painters to explore techniques traditionally reserved for oil paints. The slow-drying quality gives artists longer working time for easier blending and even subtractive techniques. There is a unique thinner and mediums for use with OPEN, but the paints are compatible with regular fast-drying acrylics and clean up with soap and water like regular acrylics. OPEN Acrylics are formulated with an optimum balance of pigment load and 100% acrylic polymer dispersion to produce a paint with a uniquely relaxed set of working characteristics and a versatility that allows artists to explore a wider range of techniques such as portraiture and landscape painting that rely on softening, shading, glazing, and creating fine detail. Increased working time of these colors expands their range to include more traditional techniques once only possible with oils Key Features:* Resists skinning, remain wet on the palette for extended periods* Feels like no other paint* Stays wet longer* Expands the boundaries of acrylics* Formulated with an optimum balance* Tubes: 2oz. & 5oz. / Jars: 4oz. & 8oz.* Titanium White: 32oz. Jar* 100% acrylic polymer dispersion* Perfect For:* A uniquely relaxed set of working characteristics and versatility* Allowing artists to explore a wider range of techniques* Portraiture and landscape painting* Softening, shading, glazing, and creating fine detail* Plein air painting, mono-printing, and screenprinting* Drying time can also be accelerated by mixing OPEN with faster-drying acrylics like our Fluid and Heavy Body colors* Reducing the amount of paint wasted and preserving color mixtures for future use How long does it take for Golden Open acrylics to dry? GOLDEN OPEN typically dries in 3-5 hrs. To control viscosity while maintaining the maximum working time Use OPEN Mediums and Thinner. To accelerate drying time, OPEN Acrylics may be blended with faster-drying GOLDEN Acrylics, Gels, and Mediums. OPEN Acrylics resist skinning, remain wet on the palette for extended periods, and exhibit a remarkable versatility that allows them to be used directly from the tube for plein air painting, mono-printing, and screenprinting. OPEN Acrylics may be blended with other GOLDEN Acrylic Colors, Mediums, and Gels, with the open time of the resulting mixtures being proportionately reduced. Because OPEN Acrylics dry slowly, painters who cover their palettes or use sealed containers have been able to use the same colors for weeks, reducing the amount of paint wasted and preserving color mixtures for future use. Gamblin Oil Painting Ground 8oz CanSave Up to40%Off listWhite Makes a strong, bright, non-absorbent foundation for oil paintings Gamblin Oil Painting Ground makes a strong, bright, non-absorbent foundation for oil paintings. Gamblin Ground is formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate – titanium dioxide gives opacity, while calcium carbonate gives tooth for strong adhesion. Gamblin Ground makes a brighter and less-absorbent ground layer compared to acrylic “gesso” – meaning that oil paint layers on top will better retain their color saturation. In addition, the lower absorbency allows for “reductive” underpainting techniques when painters need to wipe back to the white of the Ground. Key Features:* See video - Ground Application* Makes a strong, bright, non-absorbent foundation for oil paintings* Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate* Brighter and less-absorbent ground layer * Oil paint layers on top will better retain their color saturation* Lower absorbency * Thicker than acrylic gesso* Can be applied on top of acrylic gesso Because the percentage of pigments is so much higher than in acrylic “gesso”, painters need only apply TWO coats of Gamblin Ground instead of the recommended four coats of acrylic. Fabric supports should be sized with PVA Size before applying Gamblin Ground. Also, Gamblin Ground can be applied on top of acrylic gesso for a brighter white, less-absorbent ground layer. Gamblin Ground is thicker than acrylic gesso, and requires different application techniques See More

You can thin the viscosity of your Interactive paint while also giving yourself more time to work. Ideal for larger paintings. It tacks up quickly, but it can easily be brought back to a more fluid stage by spraying it with water. Thick Slow Medium: has a gel-like consistency that is useful when artists want to have more blending time but do not want a thinner paint. You can use Thick Slow Medium for spreading and diluting paint without making it thin or runny. The concentrated medium is best used in small amounts. Just add to your palette when you want to maximize viscosity, and keep your Atelier Interactive Acrylic paints open for an extended period. Heavy Gel Gloss: A thick, water-based, glossy acrylic gel medium designed to create texture in acrylic painting. Heavy Gel Gloss creates a more translucent and buttery paint and increases gloss levels. It can also be used as an adhesive to bond other materials to the painting. *Note that the Heavy Gel Gloss uses conventional fast-drying technology, but it can take quite some time to dry when they are applied thickly. Clear Painting Medium: is one of the most popular mediums in acrylic painting. It is used with the paint to dilute the viscosity and blend colors without losing pigment intensity. This mid-viscosity medium allows the paint to spread over a surface for more blendable gradations of color. Retarder: slows down the drying process when added to acrylics and mediums. Retarder is particularly useful when painting wet-over-wet or wet-over-dry techniques. About 10% addition to any of the three mediums above can be useful for painting outdoors or in very dry conditions. See More
