In the last 20 years, professional artists have been moving towards working on aluminum composite panels (ACP), which feature lighter weights and stronger construction. AlumaComp is widely used for mounting fine art, photographs, linen and canvas to create an incredibly stable painting panel, or to use on its own as a reliable, archival painting support. The brushed aluminum surface takes primer beautifully, providing texture that grips the primer for a perfect bond. The smooth aluminum surface can be used as is to take advantage of its' beautiful finish, or custom sanded or polished for any texture necessary for your artistic applications. When used as a painting panel, the smooth side can be used as the work’s actual highlights for a modern look— either left bare as is, or sanded/buffed back to the bare metal before varnishing to take advantage of the metallic glow. Simply peel the screened film used to protect both sides, and let your creativity do the rest. Key Features: * Double-sided – one brushed aluminum, one polished smooth * 100% Archival Rigid and strong, yet lightweight * 4mm (3/16") thick * Acid-Free - Archival, will not decay * Prime and Paint in traditional oils & acrylics * Use primed or unprimed * Accepts most fine art media, primed or painted directly * Perfect for use as a mounting surface for photography, linen and canvas, even image transfers * Will not mold, or mildew like stretched canvas or wood panels * Can be Framed - No backing board needed * Sold Individually or in Boxes of 2 Perfect For: * Adding Value to Your Art * Plein Air - Lightweight & free from moisture * Professional Photographers, Fine Artists, Graphic Artists * Oils, Acrylics, Mixed Media, Watercolors * Art Prints, Inkjet, Screen Printing, Photos * Creating artwork with a fresh, modern look * Saving shipping costs to clients and galleries, due to lighter weight * Experimental and modern art * Working in environments where humidity levels fluctuate* See below for the larger sizes sold in boxes of 2: 36" x 36" - 18" x 72" - Also not for larger sizes, may need to support to prevent bending Professional Artist Eric Armusik "My work requires the highest standards and after 15 years of painting on wood i have abandon it forever after painting on AlumaComp, I will be painting all 40 large panels using this substrate as well as many more paintings, commissions and mounting of my prints", "It's an amazingly versatile substrate for those who want the smooth surface of a panel but are afraid to paint on something like wood which is prone to warping" Eric Armusik, (b. 1973) paints classical figurative art that fuses his life experiences with art history. His paintings are a declaration to the dramatic power of representational art. The origin of his inspiration does not lie in academia, but rather his childhood, surrounded by the vivid paintings he saw in Gothic cathedrals as a child. Eric doesn’t aspire to simply paint a figure; he paints a moment, a human experience, and an emotional dialogue that transcends culture, religion and time itself. See More

Key Features: * Texture and effect mediums * Thin or thicken paint viscosity * Increase open (working) time * Dry transparent or translucent * Extend the volume of paint * Intermixable with Jo Sonja paints Perfect For: * Jo Sonja acrylic paints * Creating special effects * Faux finishers * Finishing a painting * Artists of all skill levels * All acrylic-friendly surfaces * Experimenting with different textures and techniques Crackle Medium: A transparent medium that causes Jo Sonja's Colours to separate into crackled patterns of various sizes. You can use the crackle medium to simulate the effects of aging. Flow Medium: an acrylic flattening agent used to level out the textural properties of Jo Sonja acrylic paint. Flow Medium is used to thin paints and other mediums. Water may dilute the paint's acrylic binder, reducing its adhesive qualities. When Flow Medium is added in small amounts, it produces a thinner, smoother paint that leaves no brush marks. Glazing Medium: A transparent acrylic glazing medium you can use alone or with Jo Sonja's Artists or Jo Sonja's Background Colours. Mix with acrylic color to seal as your basecoat or alone on raw wood as a light sealer. A coat of Glazing Medium is recommended before staining for an even application of stain. Polyurethane Varnish: Provides the toughest finish available with excellent corrosion, chemical, scratch, and wear resistance. Use indoors or outdoors to provide maximum, long-term protection. The varnish dries clear and is non-yellowing. Jo Sonja's Acrylic Polyurethane Varnishes are available in Gloss and Matte. Retarder Medium: Extends the drying time of Jo Sonja's Colours. It allows an extended working or "open" time for blending. Opal Dust: Jo Sonja's Opal Dust is a clear gel that contains tiny light-reflecting holographic particles, which create an interplay of colors reminiscent of gems. Opal Dust may be used alone or applied to a dry pre-painted surface. It is suitable for various surfaces, including paper, card, glass, transparency film, plastic, canvas, wood, terra cotta, tin, fabric, silk, or dried flowers. Mix with Jo Sonja's Artists' Colors before applying for a more subtle effect. Drying time depends upon the thickness of the application. Brushstrokes are evident when wet but disappear when fully dry. See More

It's sprayed onto touch-dry paint to soften edges, blend colors, and remove paint. Please note that the Unlocking Formula will not work on cured paints. Pouring Medium: Designed for extreme fluid effects and pouring techniques. Self-leveling and dries to a gloss finish. The best paint to use with this medium is Atelier Free Flow. Fast Medium/Fixer: Is designed to speed up the Interactive Acrylic painting process by quickly fixing a paint layer. You can use it to dilute the paint for glazing and thin painting techniques. Fast Medium/Fixer will speed up the layering process. Excellent for fast glazing and quick layering techniques. Slow Medium: Atelier Slow Medium slows down the drying time when added to Atelier Interactive Acrylic paint. You can thin the viscosity of your Interactive paint while also giving yourself more time to work. Ideal for larger paintings. It tacks up quickly, but it can easily be brought back to a more fluid stage by spraying it with water. Thick Slow Medium: has a gel-like consistency that is useful when artists want to have more blending time but do not want a thinner paint. You can use Thick Slow Medium for spreading and diluting paint without making it thin or runny. The concentrated medium is best used in small amounts. Just add to your palette when you want to maximize viscosity, and keep your Atelier Interactive Acrylic paints open for an extended period. Heavy Gel Gloss: A thick, water-based, glossy acrylic gel medium designed to create texture in acrylic painting. Heavy Gel Gloss creates a more translucent and buttery paint and increases gloss levels. It can also be used as an adhesive to bond other materials to the painting. *Note that the Heavy Gel Gloss uses conventional fast-drying technology, but it can take quite some time to dry when they are applied thickly. Clear Painting Medium: is one of the most popular mediums in acrylic painting. It is used with the paint to dilute the viscosity and blend colors without losing pigment intensity. This mid-viscosity medium allows the paint to spread over a surface for more blendable gradations of color. Retarder: slows down the drying process when added to acrylics and mediums. Retarder is particularly useful when painting wet-over-wet or wet-over-dry techniques. About 10% addition to any of the three mediums above can be useful for painting outdoors or in very dry conditions. See More

It is clear acrylic primed and will take acrylic colors, oil colors, caseins, alkyds and egg tempera. It will also make an excellent alternative to sanded pastel paper and it will enhance the value of finished paintings. * Sold In: Individual or boxes of 6 * 3/4" Deep, Heavyweight natural linen * Multi-media surface great for oil, acrylic and alkyd colors * Medium tooth natural linen weave surface * Special clear acrylic primer allows canvas surface to show through * Expertly stretched onto the back of genuine pine stretcher bars * Warp-resistant genuine pine stretchers * Back-stapled to allow for keying or re-stretching (keys included) * Four paintable edges for frameless presentation * Available in 3/4" and 1-1/2" depths Many artists like to leave a border around their compositions having them float on the linen creating a unique presentation that they or their customers can frame or hang as is. The canvas is stretched onto the back of genuine pine stretcher bars leaving a crisp neat edge. Standard weight ¾" × 1½" stretcher bars. Is linen or cotton canvas better? Linen is strong and durable, and remains the preferred surface for many artists. Linen is more expensive than cotton and retains its natural oils, which helps to preserve the fiber's flexibility and stops the canvas from becoming brittle. It is also regarded as having a more “natural” weaved finish than cotton. See More

You'll find this surface works well with virtually any acrylic-based paint, from heavy body to acrylic-based inks. Yes! Canvas is also uniquely compatible with watercolor and water-soluble gouache. Traditional watercolor paint sits right on top of the surface, so you can lift the color, scratch into the paint, and apply layers for unique effects. Key Features: * 11oz weight, 100% unbleached cotton * Portrait smooth, fine weave * 3/4" Deep profile * Triple-primed with an acid-free all media primer Perfect For: * Painting with any media! * Watercolors, water-based inks, airbrush colors * Acrylics, markers, acrylic inks * Oil paint, shellac, and alkyds Jerry's Exclusive - Best Seller! The all media acrylic primer accepts watercolors, acrylic colors, oil colors, caseins, alkyds and egg tempera. For Portraits - Super realistic artists love Yes! because the surface is plate smooth and affordable. You can easily draw on the canvas because it's made with the finest close-weaved cotton and primed three times to a super smooth surface. But here's the twist you can also paint on it with any media! It will accept any paint, ink, or marker you have in your studio. As a Watercolor Surface - Many watercolorists draw with permanent marker as they create their base design. With this surface, you can draw right into your watercolor without feathering or smudging. A unique twist to this canvas is that you can draw with a permanent marker and use the lines to form a resist for your watercolors. This marker technique is very similar to the resist used for silk painting and is quite dazzling. For traditional watercolor painting, the color sits right on top of the surface, which allows you to lift paint, scratch into color, and apply layers for unique effects. This canvas works best with tube watercolor and provides rich, vibrant expressions. Acrylics and Watercolors - We don't know where art will lead you on this canvas. Still, you may want to start by playing with watercolors and gouache reworking and fine tuning until you finish the top layers with permanent acrylics. Of course, you don't need to use watercolors with your acrylics, but you can if you want. You'll find this surface to be fantastic with virtually any acrylic based paint from heavy body to acrylic based inks. Before applying watercolor, we suggest that you clean the canvas thoroughly with high-strength Isopropyl alcohol to remove any hand-oils from the canvas. Surface oils may have accumulated from manufacturing, packaging, or unwrapping the canvas. Cleaning the canvas should prevent the paint from beading up on the surface. See More

Centurion Deluxe Oil Primed 22"x28" Linen Panel, 3 PackSave Up to84%Off listWhite Master Quality Archival Deluxe Linen Panels! Superb performance and color retention! Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming As an oil colorist it is important to work on oil primed surfaces and not universal primed surfaces. The reason is that universal primed surfaces are semi-absorbent. Gesso is absorbent even if it is plate smooth. The paint does not get absorbed as much and sits on the surface more making it easy to blend and manipulate. Granted it is not highly absorbent but the fact remains that some oil will get into the primer and flatten the image. You can get around this by using an under-painting oil ground on top of the surface of a universal ground canvas but this is very time consuming and expensive. Unlike universal ground, our oil priming chemically bonds with the oil paint and is non-absorbent allowing the paint to sit up on the surface with the correct refraction quality of the oil binder. If you use any high-quality oil color we urge you to use an oil primed surface and now we make it affordable! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! Centurion Deluxe Professional Oil Primed Linen Panels, specifically designed for oil painters. Superb receptive surface accepts even the thinnest oil color lay down without fragmenting on the surface and is a permanent surface as colors adhere better on it than any other oil primed canvas on the market today! Centurion Deluxe Oil Primed 22"x28" Linen Canvas .67" Deep (Box of 6)Save Up to64%Off listWhite Master Quality Archival Deluxe Stretched Canvas! Superb Performance And Color Retention! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! As an oil painter, it is important to work on oil primed surfaces. First, oil on oil will provide the best chemical bond for the paint layers that go on, afterwards. Secondly, gesso are acrylic based, and either repel oil if they have too high of a resin base, or absorb the oil too much if it is too matte, making color sink and look dull and lifeless. Oil priming allows the color to sit cleanly and brightly on the surface, with refraction of the white from below. Centurion’s affordable (OP DLX) oil primed canvas is a great way to start painting with not only an oil primer, but the luxurious texture and archival tradition of linen! Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming!
