You can use the crackle medium to simulate the effects of aging. Flow Medium: an acrylic flattening agent used to level out the textural properties of Jo Sonja acrylic paint. Flow Medium is used to thin paints and other mediums. Water may dilute the paint's acrylic binder, reducing its adhesive qualities. When Flow Medium is added in small amounts, it produces a thinner, smoother paint that leaves no brush marks. Glazing Medium: A transparent acrylic glazing medium you can use alone or with Jo Sonja's Artists or Jo Sonja's Background Colours. Mix with acrylic color to seal as your basecoat or alone on raw wood as a light sealer. A coat of Glazing Medium is recommended before staining for an even application of stain. Polyurethane Varnish: Provides the toughest finish available with excellent corrosion, chemical, scratch, and wear resistance. Use indoors or outdoors to provide maximum, long-term protection. The varnish dries clear and is non-yellowing. Jo Sonja's Acrylic Polyurethane Varnishes are available in Gloss and Matte. Retarder Medium: Extends the drying time of Jo Sonja's Colours. It allows an extended working or "open" time for blending. Opal Dust: Jo Sonja's Opal Dust is a clear gel that contains tiny light-reflecting holographic particles, which create an interplay of colors reminiscent of gems. Opal Dust may be used alone or applied to a dry pre-painted surface. It is suitable for various surfaces, including paper, card, glass, transparency film, plastic, canvas, wood, terra cotta, tin, fabric, silk, or dried flowers. Mix with Jo Sonja's Artists' Colors before applying for a more subtle effect. Drying time depends upon the thickness of the application. Brushstrokes are evident when wet but disappear when fully dry. See More

It's sprayed onto touch-dry paint to soften edges, blend colors, and remove paint. Please note that the Unlocking Formula will not work on cured paints. Pouring Medium: Designed for extreme fluid effects and pouring techniques. Self-leveling and dries to a gloss finish. The best paint to use with this medium is Atelier Free Flow. Fast Medium/Fixer: Is designed to speed up the Interactive Acrylic painting process by quickly fixing a paint layer. You can use it to dilute the paint for glazing and thin painting techniques. Fast Medium/Fixer will speed up the layering process. Excellent for fast glazing and quick layering techniques. Slow Medium: Atelier Slow Medium slows down the drying time when added to Atelier Interactive Acrylic paint. You can thin the viscosity of your Interactive paint while also giving yourself more time to work. Ideal for larger paintings. It tacks up quickly, but it can easily be brought back to a more fluid stage by spraying it with water. Thick Slow Medium: has a gel-like consistency that is useful when artists want to have more blending time but do not want a thinner paint. You can use Thick Slow Medium for spreading and diluting paint without making it thin or runny. The concentrated medium is best used in small amounts. Just add to your palette when you want to maximize viscosity, and keep your Atelier Interactive Acrylic paints open for an extended period. Heavy Gel Gloss: A thick, water-based, glossy acrylic gel medium designed to create texture in acrylic painting. Heavy Gel Gloss creates a more translucent and buttery paint and increases gloss levels. It can also be used as an adhesive to bond other materials to the painting. *Note that the Heavy Gel Gloss uses conventional fast-drying technology, but it can take quite some time to dry when they are applied thickly. Clear Painting Medium: is one of the most popular mediums in acrylic painting. It is used with the paint to dilute the viscosity and blend colors without losing pigment intensity. This mid-viscosity medium allows the paint to spread over a surface for more blendable gradations of color. Retarder: slows down the drying process when added to acrylics and mediums. Retarder is particularly useful when painting wet-over-wet or wet-over-dry techniques. About 10% addition to any of the three mediums above can be useful for painting outdoors or in very dry conditions. See More

Yes, is plate smooth using only the finest close weaved cotton and primed three times to a super smooth surface. So smooth you can easily draw on it. But here's the twist you can also paint on it with any media! The priming is the key. Imagine a canvas so versatile that it will accept any paint, ink or marker you have in your studio. Imagine the possibilities. The Watercolor Surface - Many watercolorists draw with permanent marker as they create their watercolors. With this surface you can draw right into your watercolor without feathering or smudging or you can paint on top of the drawing. A unique twist to this canvas is that you can draw with permanent marker and use the lines to form a resist for your watercolors. This is very similar to resists used for silk painting. It is quite amazing and interesting. For traditional watercolor painting the color sits right up on the surface and allows for easy lifting, scratching into the paint film, reworking the painted surface and even layering for unique effects. Use with opaque or transparent colors. This canvas works best with tube watercolor and provides rich, vibrant expressions. Acrylics and Watercolors - We don't know where art will lead you but you may want to start off playing with watercolors and gouache reworking or even removing areas then fine tuning and finally finishing off the top layers with permanent acrylics. Of course you don't need to use watercolors with your acrylics but you can if you want. You'll find this surface to be fantastic with virtually any acrylic based paint from heavy body to acrylic based inks to airbrush colors. Before applying watercolor, we suggest that you clean the canvas thoroughly with high-strength Isopropyl alcohol to remove any hand-oils from the canvas. Surface oils may have accumulated from manufacturing, packaging, or unwrapping the canvas. Cleaning the canvas should prevent the paint from beading up on the surface. See More
