The UVLS system provides increased resistance to the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation, making the product suitable for exterior as well as interior application. MSA Varnish can be used over a wide variety of paints, including acrylic, oil, alkyd, egg tempera, watercolor, and casein. As a topcoat for acrylics, it provides a harder, lower tack surface that is much less susceptible to dirt and is more mar resistant. GOLDEN MSA - available in Matte, Satin, and Gloss finishes. A mineral spirit based acrylic resin system that forms a tougher, less permeable film than waterborne acrylic varnishes. Can be applied to acrylic, oil, and alkyd painted surfaces. Reduces dirt penetration and surface marring, offering an extremely level film with less foam and fewer pinholes. Removable with mineral spirits after drying; recommended for interior or exterior use. Not for use by children. Thins with MSA Varnish Solvent. MSA Varnish Solvent - the ideal solvent for thinning GOLDEN MSA Varnishes, which must be thinned before use. MSA Solvent assures clear, clean, even application. Can be used to remove MSA Varnish at a later time for restoration purposes. * Protects against dirt and dust* Provides moisture resistance* MSA UVLS: Ultraviolet Light Stabilizers (UVLS)* MSA Varnish can be used over a wide variety of paints, including acrylic, oil, alkyd, egg tempera, watercolor, and casein* As a topcoat for acrylics For restoration purposes, the varnish may be removed with MSA Solvent, full strength commercial mineral spirits ( i. e. : paint thinner or white spirits ), or distilled or rectified turpentine. MSA Varnish (Gloss) dries to a highly reflective finish. MSA Varnish (Satin) offers moderate reflection, similar to most matte varnishes. MSA Varnish (Matte) finish is exceptionally flat. The different finishes can be intermixed to achieve the desired sheen. Note that the matte and satin MSA varnishes will lighten dark value colors, which is typical of reduced sheen varnishes. Jacquard Dye Additive Synthrapol 8 oz BottleSave Up to10%Off list…textiles, add 1 to 2 drops Synthrapol® per 2 fl oz of fabric paint. Citric Acid: Citric Acid is a mild, odorless, powdered acid that helps fix acid dyes and exhaust dye baths. Add one tablespoon of Citric Acid to the dye bath per 1 lb of fabric. Do not pour directly onto cloth. If further… Essential chemicals for the dyeing process! Jacquard offers several necessary chemicals that complement their Acid and Procion MX dyes. Sodium Alginate SH is used to thicken dyes for painting, stamping, or screen printing. Citric Acid is a mild, odorless, powdered acid that helps fix acid dyes to protein-based fibers. Soda Ash promotes the chemical reaction between Procion MX fiber reactive dyes and cellulose fiber. The humectant Urea attracts moisture from the air and slows the tie-dye process, providing more time for the dye to process and generate deeper shades. You can use Synthrapol® an industrial-strength, pH-neutral liquid detergent as a wetting agent, or wash your decorated fabrics with it. It is essential to practice studio safety when using dyes and chemicals. Please keep dyes, paints, and chemicals away from children and avoid unnecessary skin contact. Key Features: * Powdered chemicals * Complement Acid and Procion MX dyes * Sodium Alginate SH will thicken dyes * Citric Acid is used to fix acid dye * Soda Ash is used to fix Procion MX dye * Urea enhances Procion MX colors * pH-neutral detergent and wetting agent Perfect For: * Fabric dyeing * Painting, stamping, or screen printing * Tie-dye, shibori, and ice dyeing * Low water immersion dyeing * Batik, printing, and direct painting * Direct painting or printing applications * Surface design Sodium Alginate SH: Sodium Alginate SH is a seaweed derivative used to thicken dyes for painting, stamping, or screen printing. When working with thicker fabrics, use a thinner consistency of dye solution to guarantee dye penetration. Instructions: Mix 1 quart water with ¼ cup Urea. Then, add two teaspoons Sodium Alginate SH for hand painting or four teaspoons Sodium Alginate SH for screen printing. Slowly sprinkle Sodium Alginate SH over water/Urea mix. Stir constantly for 10 minutes, or mix in a blender until smooth. Let stand for 1 hour, then stir again. The solution may be stored in a refrigerator for a few months. Soda Ash: Soda Ash dye fixer is a mild alkali that promotes the chemical reaction between Procion MX fiber reactive dyes and cellulose fiber. It is also known as sodium carbonate, washing soda, or salt soda. Soda Ash is necessary to activate and set Procion MX dye. For tie-dye (pre-soak method): Use one cup per gallon of warm water. Soak fabric in the mixture for 20 minutes. Squeeze/wring out the excess solution by hand. Do not rinse out. For immersion dyeing: Use 1/4 to 1/3 cup per three gallons of water. Add to dye bath per instructions. Dyeing cellulose fibers in a washing machine: Use 2-3 cups per load. Dissolve in one-quart hot water. Slowly add to dye bath in washer per instructions. Synthrapol®: Synthrapol® is an industrial-strength, pH-neutral liquid detergent used as a pre and after wash for dyed or painted fabrics. Synthrapol® can also be used as a wetting agent for fabric dyes and paints. The unique liquid detergent keeps loose dye pigment suspended during washing which prevents back staining and helps remove excess color. Pre wash: Prewashing fabric with Synthrapol® to remove oils, waxes, starches, and sizings helps ensure an even dye job and reduces the risk of blotchy color. Directions: Add three tablespoons Synthrapol® per 8 lb washing load. For cotton and other cellulose fibers, add two tablespoons soda ash. Wash for at least 10 minutes using hot water, and then rinse thoroughly. After wash: After dyeing or painting, rinse the fabric in cold water and then wash for at least 10 minutes using three tablespoons Synthrapol® per 8 lb wash load. Use hot water for cotton, cool to warm water for silk and wool, and then rinse thoroughly in cold water. Wetting Agent: Adding Synthrapol® to a dye bath or fabric paint can increase color penetration. When dyeing wool and other hard-to-wet fibers, add 2 to 3 drops of Synthrapol® per 5 lb fabric. To increase fabric paint coverage on hard-to-wet textiles, add 1 to 2 drops Synthrapol® per 2 fl oz of fabric paint. Citric Acid: Citric Acid is a mild, odorless, powdered acid that helps fix acid dyes and exhaust dye baths. Add one tablespoon of Citric Acid to the dye bath per 1 lb of fabric. Do not pour directly onto cloth. If further exhaustion of dye bath is necessary, add a little bit more. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with water for at least 15 minutes. Keep out of reach of children. Urea: Urea is a humectant that attracts moisture from the air and slows the drying process; therefore, it allows more time for the dye to react with the fiber and helps develop deeper shades. Most artists use Urea when applying dye solutions directly to fabric or hand painting. Urea can be used with Sodium Alginate thickener for screen printing, direct painting, or tie-dye. Add one tablespoon Urea per 8 fl oz of dye solution (¼ cup per one quart of dye solution). See More

Gamblin Burnt Plate Oil #000 8oz BottleSave Up to40%Off listBrown True to historic working properties. Safer. More Permanent. Gamblin Oil Painting mediums offer a great deal more than simply extending oil colors. Mediums modify the working properties of oil color from the tube – from a fluid consistency for expressive mark making to a stiff paste for creating thick, crisp marks. Painting mediums also broaden the visual qualities of our colors – from increasing the transparency of paint layers, to creating a range of surface qualities, from high gloss to matte. Gamblin’s family of Galkyd painting mediums and Cold Wax Medium are formulated with Gamsol. We recommend only Gamsol for thinning these materials. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil - Processed from flax seeds. This linseed is the purest and lightest industrially produced variety. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil - Made from the first pressing of flax seeds without heat or chemicals of any kind. Cold Wax Medium - Made from natural white unbleached beeswax. Mix directly into colors. Cold Wax creates an ultra-thick, matte impasto. For greater shine and flexibility mix with Galkyd medium. "G-Gel" - Made from alkyd resin, Galkyd Gel is a colorless oil color additive that accelerates the drying rate of oil colors and enables artists to create thick transparent paintings with a moderate sheen. Galkyd Painting Medium - Alkyd based resin painting medium that thins oil paints and maintains a strong flexible paint film. Galkyd speeds the drying rate and is excellent for glazing providing an enamel like finish. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Painting Medium Lite No.2 - This low viscosity alkyd resin painting medium is a good replacement for traditional damar/ linseed oil/ turpentine combination mediums. Galkyd Lite dries within about 3 hours to a subdued gloss, and will maintain your brush strokes. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Slow Drying Medium - Especially formulated to thin oil colors and give painters extended working time. To use mix equal portions of medium with oil colors to paint wet for at least a day. Since this product should not be diluted you may want to purchase the larger size. Gamsol - Quality solvent and medium and for general oil painting. Gamsol is also an excellent studio and brush cleaner. Odorless Mineral Spirits -Gamsol is the safest solvent that allows oil painters to utilize all traditional painting techniques without compromise. Primary Uses for Gamsol - Thinning oil colors, Modifying painting mediums, Studio clean up.Gamsol is a petroleum distillate but all the aromatic solvents have been refined out of it, less than .005% remains. Gamvar - Conservation quality varnish for oil, acrylic and alkyd paintings. This resin varnish may be removed with a mild solvent and contains a UV stabilizer. Developed in association with the National Gallery of Art. Package makes enough varnish to cover 80 sq ft. Once varnish is applied surface will have a uniform gloss apperance. Neo-Megilp - When mixed into oil colors Neo-Megilp makes them richer and deeper and finished paintings have a luminous glow! Neo-Megilp will not darken or crack over time. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Oil Painting Ground - For strong, bright foundations of oil paintings. Requires only 2 coats. Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide and barium sulfate. Stiffer than traditional gesso. PVA Size - Use as a barrier size between linen or cotton canvas instead of rabbit skin glue. Remains flexible and won't yellow, shrink or swell. Poppy Oil - Poppy Oil's slow drying time may be useful for painters using "wet into wet" techniques. Adding 10% by volume poppy oil slows down the drying time of Gamblin Galkyd Painting Mediums. Rabbit Skin Glue - Gamblin's Rabbit Skin Glue is the traditional size for fabric support on panels. It seals porous fabric and isolates it from ground or oil paints. Stretching the canvas is easy, because the size shrinks as it dries. Safflower Oil- Gamblin's Safflower Oil is a pale, slow-drying oil. Safflower oil increases flow of oil colors and slows dry time. Use sparingly or mix with an equal amount of Gamsol to create a traditional slow-drying, low-viscosity painting medium. Solvent-Free Gel Medium - This unique, non-toxic blend of safflower oil and alkyd resin gives colors more flow and transparency, yet holds brushstrokes well. It has a moderately fast drying rate, increases gloss, and supports the broadest range of painting techniques with the least compromise across color, dry time, texture and mark-making. Contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Solvent-Free Fluid Medium- Gamblin's Solvent-Free Fluid Mediumgives oil colors more flow and transparency, It has a moderately fast drying rate that increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, this medium is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Stand Oil - Vacuum bodied heavy oil which can be used in painting and glazing mediums. Dries to an enamel like finish. Traditional Gesso - Gamblin's Traditional Gesso is a dry mixture of rabbit skin glue, gypsum, marble dust, and titanium dioxide. Paintings on gesso are more matte because of the high absorbency of traditional gesso. Wax Pastilles - Small beads of naturally white unbleached beeswax.* See More
