Before each use, you can shake the ball inside the barrel to prime the marker. Thanks to its fast-drying time, you can layer dark colors over light colors or even bright colors over dark colors. The ball inside the barrel of the POSCA markers ensures that when shaken, the paint is evenly mixed. The valve mechanism provides a tight paint seal that prevents the paint from drying out. After use, you can rinse the pen tips under water. Permanent on porous surfaces and erasable on most smooth non-porous materials, your creations can be protected with a fixative varnish. Use POSCA Paint Markers on a variety of surfaces, including wood, fabrics, glass, ceramic, plastic, metals, stones, papers, cardboard, and canvas. Key Features: * Water-soluble Paint Markers * Non-toxic, alcohol-free, lightfast acrylic * Valve mechanism provides tight paint seal * Ball in barrel primes marker * The medium tip is reversible * Quick-drying matte opaque colors * Stable pigments * Permanent on porous surfaces * Erasable on most non-porous materials * Perfect For: * Multiple art projects * Blending and layering colors * Creating infinite gradations of color * Use on a variety of different surfaces * Indoor and outdoor use * Bright compositions * Drawing smooth, consistent lines * Wood, fabrics, glass, ceramic, plastic * Metals, stones, papers, cardboard, and canvas Glass, Plastic, and Metal: Clean the surface with a cloth and ensure it is dry before starting work. Make artwork permanent by applying two coats of water-based spray varnish. Hold the can about 30 cm from the surface and spray in slow circular movements. The varnish can be matte or gloss depending on the look you want. (Not suitable for food use) Fabric: Machine-wash the fabric you plan to draw on to remove any industrial coatings or dirt. To prepare natural or artificial leather, wipe with a damp sponge and leave to dry. Once your creation is finished and dry, you can iron it from the reverse side without using steam. Set the temperature of the iron to the material setting for the fabric you are ironing. You can place a sheet of tracing paper between the iron and the fabric for extra protection. If the fabric used is not suitable for ironing, you can fix your creation with a hairdryer. Hold it 30 cm from the surface and make small circular movements. Ceramic: With treated ceramics, fix your creation, for non-food use, using a water-based spray varnish, spraying from about 30 cm in small circular movements. With rough ceramics, fire your creation in the oven. Heat the ceramic in the oven slowly to 220°, then turn off the oven and allow it to cool completely before taking it out. Fix the paint on porcelain in the same way, but to a temperature of 160° and for no more than 45 minutes. To give your creation the longest possible life (for non-food use), you can apply a water-based varnish or adhesive varnish. Afterward, you can only hand wash the ceramic in cold water. See More

I've used all of those latter paints quite a bit, but casein has qualities all its own. It can be used transparently, but it has great opacity when you need it, something often lacking in acrylic. It's one of the oldest paint mediums, dating all the way back to the Egyptians – JAMES GURNEY" What is Casein? Casein (kay'seen) is a quick-drying, aqueous medium using a milk-based binding agent, and is one of the most durable mediums known to man. Nine thousand year old casein cave paintings have been discovered in Asia. Later, the medium was used by Byzantine, Roman and Renaissance artists, including the Old Masters. Known for their versatility and array of capabilities, casein paints can be used to create a variety of effects from the rich opaques of oil to thin watercolor washes. Because casein has an exceptional integrity of color and always dries to a perfect matte finish, it is unexcelled for art reproduction. The velvety matte finish can also be buffed to a satin sheen or varnished to produce a resemblance to oils. Over time, casein pigments become resistant to moisture and as history has proven, the medium has a durability and permanence which has easily stood the test of time. Because it dries quickly, it is possible to lay down a glaze and move onto the next stage within a few hours instead of waiting for days, or even months, as with oils. Can I mix casein with other mediums? Yes you can! Use casein over watercolor or gouache or as an underpainting for acrylic, pastel or oils. If using casein under oils, apply a barrier layer of Damar varnish over the casein before the oil paint. Casein can also be used under oils as an excellent underpainting medium. See More
