The stretcher bars feature a reinforced structure comprised of wear-resistant, lightweight aluminum and sturdy Norwegian Spruce to provide a smooth, clean stretching bead, allowing ample room to back staple or nail your selected canvas or linen (with no edge ghosting). The system not only allows for tightening if needed with the Spanner hardware, but easily breaks down so that artwork can be rolled & tubed, with stretchers placed in a separate tube for ease of shipping. Lighter in weight than heavy duty wood stretcher bars, the Museo ALU Frame Stretchers provide a crisp, true-to-square system that is truly revolutionary in construction & what options it affords artists, especially those who ship larger work to galleries, collectors, & clients. Cross bars can be added at any time without disassembling, and the system is so strong that no cross braces are needed on sizes up to 48" x 96"! The revolutionary extender allows for making virtually any stretcher bar size, which combined with cross bracing, becomes completely dimensionally stable. Easily modify work that is already stretched with this system, to ensure compliance with different museum and gallery per-requisites regarding bracing distances. These stretcher bars are made to order. Please allow 1-3 weeks for delivery. Exclusive OP enhanced oil priming As an oil colorist it is important to work on oil primed surfaces and not universal primed surfaces. The reason is that universal primed surfaces are semi-absorbent. Gesso is absorbent even if it is plate smooth. The paint does not get absorbed as much and sits on the surface more making it easy to blend and manipulate. Granted it is not highly absorbent but the fact remains that some oil will get into the primer and flatten the image. You can get around this by using an under-painting oil ground on top of the surface of a universal ground canvas but this is very time consuming and expensive. Unlike universal ground, our oil priming chemically bonds with the oil paint and is non-absorbent allowing the paint to sit up on the surface with the correct refraction quality of the oil binder. If you use any high-quality oil color we urge you to use an oil primed surface and now we make it affordable! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming! Centurion Deluxe Professional Oil Primed Linen Panels, specifically designed for oil painters. Superb receptive surface accepts even the thinnest oil color lay down without fragmenting on the surface and is a permanent surface as colors adhere better on it than any other oil primed canvas on the market today!
