Even though I gesso the surface its not necessary. Simply be inspired and apply the paint." Sennelier Oil Pastels Wood Box Set Assorted Colors, La Grande (Set of 36)Save Up to45%Off listAssorted Colors The world's finest oil pastels, made with high-quality pigments The world's finest oil pastels were originally created in 1949 by Henri Sennelier for Pablo Picasso. Picasso, a frequent patron of Henri's art supply shop across from the Louvre, was looking for a vibrant colored pastel he could use to paint on anything, giving examples of wood, metals, paper, canvas, etc. Picasso enjoyed the immediacy of children's crayons and soft pastels but wanted to be able to use their freer, gestural qualities on all surfaces and wanted them to be professional quality and lightfast. Sennelier's first oil pastels have since been the hallmark and long-time standard of the medium. Creamy, lightfast, and vibrant, Sennelier Oil Pastels use the same high-quality pigments and high pigment loads as their other lines, combined with a pure, synthetic binding medium and mineral wax. As the binding medium does not oxidize, it will not jeopardize the artwork's film stability or surface. They are acid-free, so there is no need to prime any surface as a preventative barrier for protection against deterioration from acid. The neutral pH mineral wax provides a remarkably creamy texture that will never harden or yellow, thus providing excellent adhesion to any support without ever fearing cracking. They may be thinned with spike lavender oil, turpentine, or mineral spirits to make washes or soften drawing strokes or blended with the Transparent Blending Medium stick for a wide array of effects. They are the ideal medium for artists on the go, as sets can be taken on airplanes without any restrictions since they contain no solvents or liquids like tubed paints. The traditional and La Grande sticks come in over 120 vibrant colors, including iridescent, metallic, and fluorescent colors. Sennelier's sets offer assorted colors dedicated to drawing landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, both in sturdy Cardboard and Wood Boxes, perfect for gift-giving or extensive travel. Sennelier Oil Pastels are available in both Standard (2 9/16" long x 3/8" diameter) and La Grande (5" long x 3/4" diameter) sizes. Sets can easily be replenished with individual pastels as you finish a stick! Key Features: * Cardboard box & Wood box sets * Compatible with all media * Can be applied to most surfaces such as paper, canvas, wood, or metal * Great for mixed media works * Highly pigmented, outstanding opacity and lightfastness * Draw on virtually any surface! * Unlike oil paint, substrates do not require priming * Soft, creamy application of color * Available in open stock of 120 vibrant colors (including iridescent, metallic, and fluorescent colors) Perfect For: * Sketching in color * Mixed Media Artists * Professional Artists * Plein Air - no need to lug brushes, solvents, palette, etc.! * Beautiful wood box sets make perfect gifts! Famously, cyanotype was used by Ana Atkins and other field biologists for indexing plant specimens with what were called photograms at the time. The Cyanotype process is incredibly simple and only employs two inexpensive chemicals and UV sunlight. Prints can be created on any natural fiber: paper, cotton, silk, wool, wood, etc. Jacquard has made Cyanotype printing easy as pie with pre-sensitized fabric that is ready for cyanotype printing. Simply pull the sheet out of the package, place objects or an inverted photographic negative on top, expose to light for three to fifteen minutes, submerge the fabric in water to reveal the blue cyanotype print, and finally hang the fabric to line dry. With Jacquard’s Cyanotype Pretreated Mural Fabric you can actually create a full-body print by laying on top of the mural fabric for the duration of exposure while not moving. The creative possibilities for Photographers, Mixed Media Artists, and Quilters are endless! If you would prefer to use your own papers or fabric Jacquard has made the chemistry of Cyanotype attainable with lightproof black bottles of Potassium Ferricyanide and Ferric Ammonium Citrate. The chemicals used for cyanotype are inexpensive and go a long way. Despite their perhaps alarming names, both are safe to handle and mix. That said, care should be taken to avoid ingestion, inhalation, and contact with skin. The instructions for the use of Potassium Ferricyanide and Ferric Ammonium Citrate are included in the link bellow Great for photographers, mixed media artists, printmakers, quilters, kids and more, the cyanotype process is easy, forgiving, quick, magical and fun. Capture the nuance of every shadow Key Features: * Harness the power of the sun to make detailed prints * Simply place the object on the sensitized surface and expose to sunlight (UV) * Sun exposure time is 3-15 minutes * Pre-sensitized Cyanotype fabric Perfect For: * Quilters and Surface Design Artists * Photographers * Mixed media artists, printmakers, quilters See More
