FX Effects Spatcher BladesSave Up to70%Off list…Smooth laydown of color * Developing new and exciting effects * Spreading gesso or large areas of paint * Faux finishing effects There are endless applications for this tool, but the most common uses are: Applying paints, gesso, and mediums: Spreading paint with a brush has all sorts of drawbacks.… The Original Spatcher by Creative Mark. Apply, Spread, Scrape, Lift, Mix - Create The silicone Spatcher blade provides a smooth laydown of color or medium while still being robust enough to spread and manipulate the thickest paints and mediums. Each Spatcher features a nickel-plated brass ferrule that is glued into the paddle-style varnished wood handle. Two finishing nails secure the ferrule in place for years of carefree use. You can quickly clean the blade with soap and water or wipe clean with solvents. If acrylic paint dries on the blade, you can peel it right off. The tapered edge provides crisp and exact strokes and allows for many creative techniques. Available in 1", 2", and 3" widths. If you don’t have a tool like this in your studio, you need to buy one! Key Features: * High-quality silicone blade * Fine edge, tapered shape * Firm blade * Nickel-plated brass ferrules * Varnished wood paddle handles * Available in 1", 2", and 3" widths * Strong enough to push through thick paints * Easy to clean with soap and water or solvents * The blade will not absorb medium or paint Perfect For: * All viscosities of paint and medium * Applying, removing, scraping, and moving color * Oil, acrylic, modeling paste * Smooth laydown of color * Developing new and exciting effects * Spreading gesso or large areas of paint * Faux finishing effects There are endless applications for this tool, but the most common uses are: Applying paints, gesso, and mediums: Spreading paint with a brush has all sorts of drawbacks. Hair sheds, brushes hold various amounts of paint, so you end up with excess paint in some areas, and brushes are hard to clean. With Spatchers, you can put color on the surface directly and let the tool do the work of spreading it on canvas, board, or panel. If you like, you can soften any marks with a soft brush. Applying layers of colors in multiple ways: Here is where your creativity takes over. You can add colors with a basic spread of paint or use the edge to add linear shapes and layer color. If still wet, you can scrape into the bottom layer to create interesting effects. You can inversely take away by lifting paint off your substrate. For the application of modeling paste: Use the Spatcher as a trowel and then easily build up the impasto regions to your liking with the fine tip. In mixed media, apply 2D or 3D objects with various glues, polymer medium, or gel mediums. See More

It creates a toothy surface similar to papers used with pastel and chalk. For an even rougher texture, Fine or Coarse Pumice Gel can be added. GOLDEN Pastel Ground for Pastel can also be tinted with acrylic colors for colored grounds. (Golden acrylics). GOLDEN Pastel Ground is a 100% acrylic medium designed to prepare surfaces for the application of pastels, charcoal and other art media where a coarse tooth is desired. It contains finely ground sand (silica) in a pure acrylic emulsion. Pastel Ground can be applied to paper, canvas, wood or any primed support. This allows almost limitless applications for media typically confined to standard papers. Key Features:* Sizes: 8oz, 32oz & 1 Gallon* Creates toothy surface similar to papers* Acrylic preparation for pastels* Fine or Coarse Pumice Gel can be added* Can also be tinted with acrylic colors Pastel Ground can be used as a toothy, gritty ground for many different media, including: Dry Media:* Soft Pastels* Graphite Pencils* Colored Chalks* Charcoal* Powdered Charcoal Water-based Media: * Water-Soluble Pastels* Colored Pencils* Pastel Pencils* Wax Crayons* Watercolor Pencils* Acrylic Paints Oil-based Media: * Oil Pastels* Oil Sticks* Paint Sticks* Ink Sticks* Pigment Sticks* Oil Paints GOLDEN Pastel Ground Application Thinning Due to the weight of the solids in Ground for Pastels, it is produced very thick, and does not come ready to brush-apply. Thin 20-40% with water to desired consistency. Application Apply with brush, paint-roller, spray equipment, squeegee or palette knife. Mix up only as much as is needed for one day"s work, as the solids will settle rapidly and be extremely difficult to mix back into suspension. Surface Preparation Non-absorbent surfaces should be abraded for increased adhesion. Prime with GOLDEN Gesso or other suitable primers (depending on substrate). Apply one or more coats of GOLDEN Pastel Ground to achieve the desired tooth. On paper, use heavier weight stock to avoid buckling. Allow ground to fully dry before applying media. Color Additions Pastel Ground can be blended with GOLDEN Acrylic Paints to achieve colored grounds. However, add minimal amounts of color since all additions of paint to Ground will decrease the tooth. GOLDEN High Flow Acrylics and Fluid Acrylics blend easily into the ground without thickening the product. High Load Acrylics have the highest pigment load and therefore provide the most color in the least amount of paint. Unless transparency is desired, select paints that are inherently opaque, such as the Pyrroles or earth colors. This will allow lower additions as well. Airbrushing thin layers of color after the ground has dried will give the strongest saturation of color to the ground without affecting the gritty surface. See More
