For over 50 years the Narozni family has crafted premium artists' canvases in Provence, France, still hand produced and primed. Today, they have passed this knowledge to Chassis France, the French specialist manufacturing canvas and frames for over 60 years. Still hand produced and primed, the close attention to detail is what makes ArtFix not a commodity, but a premium product for the educated and discerning artist who chooses the very finest canvases for painting. Much time and education is spent on learning why linen is superior to cotton canvas, but less is known as to why polyester is becoming popular as a painting surface. Polyester is a modern surface solution for the professional painter. Polyester stands apart from its linen and cotton counterparts as it isn’t affected by moisture, so it experiences far less temperature related expansion and contraction than cotton or linen endures. Its synthetic nature creates a stable and chemically compatible environment. The ability for polyester to be spun and create a super fine thread allows for ability to create flawless, extra fine surfaces that are popular with portrait and realist painters. Art conservators use polyester for relining old delicate canvases; they can be adhered to the stretched polyester without the fear of buckling, thus providing a moisture-proof barrier between stretchers and the wall that archival lasts forever. ArtFix polyester rolls are primed with anywhere from 2 to 6 coats of a specially formulated universal primer, 2 to 4 coats of oil primer, or pre-sized unprimed raw or raw tinted polyester (tinting gives it more the appearance of a natural linen color). Canvas Style Notes: "C" Styles - Lead-style Oil Primed: ArtFix’s specially formulated oil priming gives the traditional qualities of lead priming, without its toxicity. the unique absorbency allows oil paints to bite into the surface, increasing adhesion and depth of color. Colors glow from within when glazed on the surface. “C" Style rolls are highly recommended for all oils and alkyd paintings. "U" Styles - Universal Primed: ArtFix’s “U" style’s carefully formulated acrylic universal priming emulates many characteristics of oil-based primers, but maintains the durability and elasticity of acrylic priming. Unlike glossy acrylic primers, the surface is more matte and a bit more absorbent to promote exceptional adhesion to a variety of media. Excellent for works in oils, acrylics, and even drawing media (oil stick, pastels, charcoal, graphite), due to the absorbent surface. When mounted to a stiff surface, even brittle media like egg tempera and caseins work beautifully on the universal primed surface and smooth polyester texture. Unprimed: Pre-sized, ArtiFix unprimed rolls are ready to accept whatever form of custom priming you desire, from clear or colored gessos, oil priming, pastel primer, etc. Please see tech notes on each individual line item canvas for information on canvas type, weight, surface texture, media, priming information, and best uses for each canvas style to find what roll best suits your artistic techniques and needs. Key Features: * stable painting surface * not affected by moisture * extra-fine surface * offered Universal & Oil Primed Perfect For: * Oil and Acrylic Painters * Painters living in humid areas * art conservation * Students to Professionals See More -

Our Artfinity® Chrome Markers & Ink are designed to add that wow factor. When wet, the ink looks like liquid silver and dries to a highly polished chrome finish on non-porous surfaces. Available in a 3mm bullet or 8.5mm chisel tip, you’re sure to find the line width best suited for your work! With the chisel tip, you can achieve a range of line widths from 1.5mm to 8.5mm. Also available in a 30ml bottle for more detailed and precise brushwork or when additional coverage is needed. The solvent-based permanent ink adheres well to non-absorbent surfaces like glass, plastic, and ceramics. For best results, prime porous surfaces like paper, canvas, and wood with PVA primer. The pump activated nibs promote even ink flow. Artfinity® chrome ink can also be airbrushed. No thinning necessary. Dries to a smooth finish. Once the ink is dry you can apply a layer of varnish to protect against scratches. Key Features: * Solvent-based highly pigmented chrome ink * Dries to a permanent high gloss mirror-like finish* * Marker pump action promotes smooth ink flow * Markers available in 3mm bullet or 8.5mm chisel nib * Also available in a 30ml bottle * Seal with varnish for scratch resistance * UV resistant ink Perfect For: * Drawing on nearly any surface * Plastic, glass, metal, clay, foam, paper, and more * Mixed media painting and illustration * Graffiti artists * Calligraphy projects * Designing stunning signs and labels * Adding a chrome mirror-effect * Airbrush application Helpful Advice: *To achieve a high gloss finish, use a non-porous surface or prime with PVA primer. Because this is a solvent-based ink, we recommend a single use brush. We have found that inexpensive foam brushes work well. Allow the ink to cure for 24 hours before touching. Please Note: The ink bottles are larger than the amount of chrome ink they contain (30ml) to allow for thermal expansion. This extra bottle space prevents leaks during transportation. See More -

Artfinity® Synthesis is a smooth, non-porous, 74 lb. synthetic paper that is exceptionally strong and warp-resistant. Traditional watercolor paper absorbs paint like a sponge, making your watercolors look muted on the surface compared to your palette. With Synthesis multi-media paper, your juicy paint colors sit on top of the surface. Colors are not absorbed or dulled. Every speck of paint that you add to Synthesis paper dries vibrantly on the surface. Best of all, you save money by wasting less paint! The ultra-smooth surface allows you to build layer upon layer, which is impossible with regular watercolor paper. Traditional watercolor paper is unforgiving if you make a mistake, but if you make a mistake on Synthesis paper, you can wipe it off and re-work the area. Synthesis paper can even be rinsed under tap water to start all over! So no paper is wasted. Tree-free Synthesis paper is perfect for watercolors, alcohol ink, acrylic paint, oil pastel, graphite, charcoal, and silkscreen. Key Features: * White 74 lb., 200gsm synthetic paper * 90% Polypropylene/ 5% Polyethylene/ 5% Polystyrene * The strong multi-media surface resists tearing and buckling * You can recycle the paper into plastic particles * Colors look more vibrant on "Synthesis" compared to standard papers * Acid-free, waterproof, and stain-resistant paper * Remove any mistakes with an eraser or wet sponge * Durable, non-tearing construction * No more wasted paint – the paper is nonabsorbent * Flawlessly smooth, pH-neutral * Pads are tape bound on the short side * Sheets remain perfectly flat while you paint Perfect For: * Creating vibrant art and wasting less paint! * Building paint layers * Acrylics, alcohol inks, and watercolor * Debossing, monotype, and oil pastel * Graphite pencil * Silkscreen and Sumi-e ink * Watercolors and acrylics * Eliminating the need for soaking, stretching, or taping Advantages of Artfinity® "Synthesis" Paper Colors look more vibrant on "Synthesis" compared to standard papers. Every speck of paint that you add to Synthesis paper dries vibrantly on the surface. If you make a mistake on Synthesis paper, you can wipe it off and re-work the area. Synthesis paper can even be rinsed under tap water to start all over! So no paper is wasted! **Please note: the rinse technique works best on wet watercolor and wet acrylic paints. You can use a damp sponge to remove dried sections of water-based media. Once you have completed a piece, it is important to use a finishing spray to stabilize the work. We recommend that you use several light coats of a non-yellowing acrylic fixative rather than one heavy coat, which could pool or drip. See More -

For over 50 years the Narozni family has crafted premium artists' canvases in Provence, France, still hand produced and primed. Today, they have passed this knowledge to Chassis France, the French specialist manufacturing canvas and frames for over 60 years. The close attention to detail is what makes ArtFix a premium surface for the educated and discerning artist who chooses the very finest canvases for painting. In the world of flexible fabric painting substrates, linen has proven itself for generations as being the fiber that has long stood the test of time. Much stronger and more durable than cotton due to a longer natural thread fiber structure and strength without issues of shrinking and sagging, it can be woven in a thinner, tighter weave that weighs much less with much greater strength. Due to the nature of the fiber, the weave cannot be woven into a completely precise, machined-look texture like cotton, which creates a unique painting surface many artists covet. Long revered for their fine linens with their incredible surface priming, ArtFix combines time-honored European manufacturing methods of priming with modern chemistry. All linens (even unprimed) are double sized for protection against acids in oil paints, which allows uniform breathing of the linen under the painting to reduce paint film stress once the work is completed. Primed up to 4 layers (depending on the roll style), each layer is applied by hand and sanded. This effort of labor prevents peeling, flaking, and cracking of the primer, and makes for the most bond with fresh paint. This time-consuming process produces an unbelievable primed surface that painters become devotees to! Select from pre-sized raw, universal, and oil primed conservator’s grade linen rolls, and indulge in the ArtFix experience. Can’t decide? Try cut pieces of different styles to learn which is your favorite! When mounted to a stiff surface, even brittle media like egg tempera and caseins work beautifully on the universal primed surface and smooth polyester texture. "G" Styles - Absorbent Ground: ArtFix’s “G" style priming is a single layer of an absorbent grey ground primer. Absorbent ground linen can be used to work with oils and acrylics where wash and staining effects are desired, as they will absorb into the ground. This style primer also works well with liquid acrylics, oil pastels, and other media that has absorbent needs to create proper adhesion. Unprimed: Pre-sized, ArtFix unprimed rolls are ready to accept whatever form of custom priming you desire, from clear or colored gessoes, oil priming, pastel primer, etc. Please see tech notes on each individual line item canvas for information on canvas type, weight, surface texture, media, priming information, and best uses for each canvas style to find what roll best suits your artistic techniques and needs.
