Michael Harding Medium Non-Absorbent Acrylic Primer White 500mlSave Up to25%Off listWhite Tired of dull flat oil paints? You need a non-absorbent ground! Regular acrylic gesso is notorious for leeching oil from oil paints, and absorbent acrylic gesso makes oil paints look dull, flat, and muted. Unlike those acrylic gesso's Michael Harding's primer is non-absorbent and preserves the luster of oil paint. Michael's acrylic primer does not absorb oil; instead, the paint sits on top of the surface. The primer is made with non-toxic, non-absorbing acrylic resin; that's why it produces such a strong, flexible ground. You can apply Michael Harding's Non-Absorbent Acrylic Primer to linen, cotton canvas, wood, and MDF. Key Features: * Non-absorbent acrylic primer * Formulated to not absorb or dull oil paints * Creates a strong bond with paint * Prevents paint from delaminating * Lightfast and will not fade over time * Thick, creamy consistency * Smooth, even-toothed finish Perfect For: * Oil and acrylic painters * A uniform painting surface * Beginner and professional artists * Preparing canvas, wood, or MDF for paint * Everyday studio use Instructions: The primer is best used in 2 coats; You may dilute the first coat with water (no more than 1 part water to 3 parts primer). Oil Painting Primer can be applied directly to metal or porous surfaces (glue-sized canvas, untreated wood, hardwood, plywood, paper) with virtually no sinking in. A small amount of oil colour can be mixed into the Oil Painting Primer for tinted priming. The treated ground then accepts oil colours easily and without chalkiness or absorbency.Key Features:* Size: 500ml & 1000ml cans* Ready-to-use primer * Non-yellowing oil-modified alkyd resin medium* Can be applied directly to metal or porous surfaces (glue-sized canvas, untreated wood, hardwood, plywood, paper)* Used to prepare a surface before painting* A small amount of oil colour can be mixed into the Oil Painting Primer for tinted priming Oil painting primer imparts a traditional oil base. Gamblin Oil Painting Ground 32oz CanSave Up to25%Off listWhite Makes a strong, bright, non-absorbent foundation for oil paintings Gamblin Oil Painting Ground makes a strong, bright, non-absorbent foundation for oil paintings. Gamblin Ground is formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate – titanium dioxide gives opacity, while calcium carbonate gives tooth for strong adhesion. Gamblin Ground makes a brighter and less-absorbent ground layer compared to acrylic “gesso” – meaning that oil paint layers on top will better retain their color saturation. In addition, the lower absorbency allows for “reductive” underpainting techniques when painters need to wipe back to the white of the Ground. Key Features:* See video - Ground Application* Makes a strong, bright, non-absorbent foundation for oil paintings* Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate* Brighter and less-absorbent ground layer * Oil paint layers on top will better retain their color saturation* Lower absorbency * Thicker than acrylic gesso* Can be applied on top of acrylic gesso Because the percentage of pigments is so much higher than in acrylic “gesso”, painters need only apply TWO coats of Gamblin Ground instead of the recommended four coats of acrylic. Fabric supports should be sized with PVA Size before applying Gamblin Ground. Also, Gamblin Ground can be applied on top of acrylic gesso for a brighter white, less-absorbent ground layer. Gamblin Ground is thicker than acrylic gesso, and requires different application techniques See More
