Each canvas is woven with specially processed heavyweight linen to create a medium-tooth canvas with good paint-gripping texture. You can paint with acrylics, oils, and alkyds on the clear, acrylic primed surface. Senso Linen is also a great alternative to sanded pastel paper. Key Features: * 1-1/2" deep stretched canvas * Medium tooth natural linen weave surface * Special clear acrylic primer allows linen to show through * Back-stapled to allow for keying or re-stretching (keys included) * Warp-resistant genuine pine stretchers * Four paintable edges Perfect For: * Oil, acrylic, and alkyd colors * Alternative surface to sanded pastel paper * Frameless presentation * Painting portraits and landscapes * Archival works designed to last * Achieving a luminous, refractive effect in oils * Excellent adhesion of oils in thick or thin layers Many artists like to leave a border around their compositions to create a floating illusion on the linen. You can frame the 1-1/2" deep canvas or hung it as is. The canvas is stretched onto genuine pine stretcher bars and folded to create a crisp, neat corners. Is linen or cotton canvas better? Linen is strong and durable, and remains the preferred surface for many artists. Linen is more expensive than cotton and retains its natural oils, which helps to preserve the fiber's flexibility and stops the canvas from becoming brittle. It is also regarded as having a more "natural" weaved finish than cotton. See More
