Since 1664, Old Holland has been manufacturing the most professional quality pigments, painting oils, and varnishes for artists like Vermeer and the Dutch Masters. With oils pressed by a windmill, they still manufacture drying oils, stand oils, and varnishes to the highest standard of quality in the most traditional methods feasible. Key Features:* Bleached Linseed Oil, Refined Poppy Oil* Stand Oil, Cold Pressed Linseed Oil* Master quality drying oils* Oils to create custom mediums Perfect For:* Glazing and thinning oils* Creating custom painting mediums* Increasing fluidity, makes it possible to remove the brushstroke* Increases the gloss, lengthens the drying time Cold Pressed Linseed Oil - Cold pressed linseed oil from ground Flax Seeds, which are pressed by Old Holland in their tradition of using a windmill. Enhances the fluidity of paint and enables brush strokes to be removed. Enhances gloss but lengthens the drying time, dries to a flexible, durable paint film. Used as an ingredient in custom painting mediums. Can be thinned with turpentine or white spirit. Bleached Linseed Oil - Cold pressed linseed oil which has been bleached to lighten the oil color, making it yellow less than traditional linseed oil, but dries slower, as well. Enhances the fluidity of paint and enables brushstrokes to be removed. Enhances gloss of paint film. Can be thinned with turpentine or white spirit. Stand Oil - Boiled polymerized linseed oil, thick to a honey-like consistency. A popular additive in painting mediums, especially for glazing mediums. Yellows less than linseed oil as has already begun the oxidation process. Dries more slowly than regular linseed oil, to a flexible and durable paint film. Refined Poppy Oil - Obtained from the first pressing of poppy seeds. Maintains many of the qualities of linseed oil, but yellows less when mixed with light colors and dries much more slowly. Use conservatively as Poppy Oil paint film dries more brittle than linseed oil. See More

Made from a mixture of linseed oil, turpentine oil, and white spirit, it contains no resin or dryers. It reduces gloss and ensures that brush strokes remain visible, but does not affect the drying time. Retouching Varnish - Useful for reviving sunken (dull) areas on the painting while in process, bringing everything up to an even sheen. Can be used over drier paint to help bond new fresh painting layers. Dries within hours and is made with a ketone resin base. Used most popularly as a temporary varnish while the painting continues to oxidize, offering protection from dust and dirt until a final varnish can be applied. Mastic Picture Varnish - Hard Varnish that often turns slightly milky. Gives a high gloss, but will yellow slightly later. Made from pure mastic resin dissolved in white spirit. Must not be applied before painting is thoroughly dry- a minimum of 12 months (longer depending on paint film thickness). Dammar Picture Varnish - Use as a final varnish for a lovely gloss finish. Produces an even, high gloss, yellows slightly later. Made from pure dammar resin dissolved in white spirit. Must not be applied before painting is thoroughly dry- a minimum of 12 months (longer depending on paint film thickness). See More
