The drawing pencils make shading and blending effortless. A sharp point allows for precise, delicate detail, while a partially worn lead produces a more opaque finish, depending on the pressure applied.

The iconic Pierre Noire is a must-have in every drawing and sketching kit. Its black colour is extremely intense, matte, and velvet-like. Pierre Noire is a pencil made exclusively by Conté à Paris. Renowned by art academies for centuries and used by the greatest artists, such as Picasso, Pierre Noire is made from natural pigments and is perfectly suited to realistic drawings, quick sketches and light and shadow studies. There are 5 graduations available. It is the degree of firing that allows the grade to vary. H (Hard) for hardness, B (Bold) for softness. The higher the number, the harder or softer the pencil. Pierre Noire is ideal for nudes, landscapes and quick sketches.
The colour of Sepia Pencil evokes burnt umber. It is recommended for quick sketches, nudes, portraits and landscapes. It can be used to underline and enhance values. It can be used minimally on its own, but its miscibility means it can be used with sanguine, white, charcoal and Pierre Noire Pencils for a more elaborate rendering.
The white pencil is a must-have in your pencil case, because it's multi-purpose. It can be used to draw, create a base, contrast, lighten or blend colours.
Sanguine is commonly used for sketching the body. For more elaborate work, it is advisable to add Pierre Noire to accentuate contrasts and White Pencil to highlight areas of light on the body. Its colour is a deep red, varying on rust. There are two other colour variations in Sanguine: the Médicis Sanguine pencil has a darker hue, reminiscent of Renaissance sanguines, and the Sanguine XVIII pencil is particularly intense and luminous, with a hint of orange. The core formula gives a dry line that blends easily.
